APJ Abdul Kalam sir has quoted in his book “Dreams are not those which come while we are sleeping, but dreams are those which do not let us sleep.” Hi friends.  My name is RAVINDER KATANIA. I have given 8 attempts out of which I have 2 screened out, 2 conference out and 4 recommendations. My father is a JCO in INDIAN NAVY and I have done my schooling from NAVY CHILDREN SCHOOL. I was the Sports Captain of my school. The lifestyle of defense has always attracted me. And therefore my dream is to have stars on my shoulders.
SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

My journey to fulfill this dream started in 2014 when I gave my first NDA SSB. I was too nervous and therefore got screened out. 29 people were recommended in that batch. Many of them were my classmates. I felt bad for a few days but then returned to my normal self and I did not work upon my personality. After this, I gave 2 more NDA SSBs in which I got conference out and screened out. The mistake I made was NOT PREPARING for the SSBs. I  missed the chance to join NDA and then I joined an engineering college.

During college, there were times when I thought I do not have it in me. I used to daydream about being an Army officer. During college, my younger brother got into NDA. I visited NDA and realized what I had missed. That day I made a promise to myself that I will not miss IMA chance. Though a 9 pointer, I did not opt for college placements and focused on SSB only.

I started journal writing. I recorded my day and my feelings and thoughts on paper. This helped me to organise my thoughts. First half hour of the day, I used to spend on planning for the day and used the last half hour for journal writing. This was my long-term preparation for SSB.

I got my first call letter for TGC 127 SSB during the final year of engineering. One month before the SSB, I downloaded TAT WAT SRT series from SSBCrack. I divided the month into 4 phases. First 10 days, I practiced TAT by writing. I wrote the observations from the TAT picture and put a questions mark on each observation. Then I thought of my own answers to those questions and connected them to form a simple story. I kept my story as simple as possible. I practiced 1 TAT set each day taking my own time for each picture.

After this, I started preparation for the personal interview. I wrote all my answers for the rapid-fire questions and also prepared my answers for the cross questions. This took me 5 days. I wrote all my answers for what all I did in my life and why I did it. Then I practiced WAT SRT for the next 5 days. For WAT I thought of another word which can replace the word given and then connected these 2 words in a sentence of my own. I kept my SRT answers as small and simple as possible. I wrote the actions which I would do in real life situations. Last 10 days were for my revision and final touch up of the preparation. I gave my 100 percent for the preparation.

The first SSB I gave was TGC 127 ( 24 SSB Bangalore). 400+ people reported for the screening. I was very nervous. I motivated myself by repeating the lines, “If not me then who ?”

I was nervous before every task during the 5 days. But during the task, I kept my cool. I did not think about the tasks which were over. I focused on quality and not on quantity. During the conference result when my chest number was called out, my brain went completely blank. It was the best feeling ever. I could see my dream getting fulfilled. But I got medical unfit for this entry. Again, I was recommended for CDS 2 2017 ( IMA ) ( 17 SSB Bangalore). But I had another heartbreak in the form of medical unfit. Family and friends encouraged me and I started preparing for my next SSBs. I was again recommended for CDS 1 2018 ( IMA ) (17 SSB Bangalore) and TGC 128 ( 34 SSB Allahabad ). I am medically fit for both and waiting for merit list. It is the hard work and preparation that matters. After 4 recommendations I believe simplicity is the key to success in SSB.

How I Got Recommended For NDA In 5th Attempt

How I Got Recommended For NDA In 5th attempt

Hello everyone.  Friends my name is Avinash and I am from Lucknow, a defense aspirant from childhood.  My journey started from last year after I passed class 12. Clearing NDA written exam became a challenge for me but I was appearing for  TES and NAVY  tech. My first SSB was on 10 August 2017 at Allahabad for TES 38. I got screened in easily. At that time I was a little casual person and I did some mistakes in GTOs. My interview went for 15 minutes only. I was unable to make it at that time. I got conference out. A huge failure for me. I was unable to forget it for about a month.

After that, I appeared for NAVY  tech SSB at Coimbatore where I got screened out because the GD of my group was not healthy. Again a disappointment.

Then a smile on my face as I saw TES 39 notification. My SSB was on 25 Jan 2018 at Banglore. Preparations were going on but, again I got screened out. This time I was very upset I decided to not appear for direct entries but, my friends helped me out.  I went to appear for my NAVY tech SSB which was at Coimbatore again on 6 Feb. I had a clear aim to get screened in first and I did it. After getting screened in from  216 candidates I was having a different smile on my face.  My psychology went well as well as the interview but GTOs again ruined my graph. Only one got recommended out of 36 and again a failure in my life.

I gave my 5th NDA with full confidence and yes this time finally I cleared it. Extreme happiness in my inner world. For SSB I changed my approach. I gave up writing stories daily but started analyzing my day to day activities. Started reading self-help books, editorials and day by day I was able to notice a change in my personality.  My NDA SSB was on 18 August. I did well in PPDT and got screened in. For the psychological test, I just tried to relate myself with the picture and wrote my actions in that situation. In WAT I wrote maximum observational responses and in this way, my psychology test went well.SSB interview candidates

In GTOs, I just cooperated with my group. I even asked my subordinate for help in command task as I was not having any idea. My interview was just after my GTO, Firstly he asked me about my GTO performance and my stay and then a series of question from PIQ after answering them he asked me about my daily routine and I told him everything which included newspaper reading. He asked me to tell three national and international news and to elaborate on anyone. I told all news and said to him that I want to elaborate Kerala floods but he told me elaborate Venezuela crisis, I explained about it briefly. He then asked me that who is the president of Venezuela and I said I do not remember exactly but his title is Maduro.  Then he said how you got all these information and I replied that sir I follow you tube. He asked me the no. of individual obstacles I did as my hobby is Calisthenic. I said 15 and he said ok .

My  interview was over now. My conference was also very short and then came the results the first chest no. he named was 22. I was shocked . I thought I am dreaming but yes this was the moment for which I had struggled a lot . I was in the same conference hall where my journey had started. A huge satisfaction in myself and my confidence again built up. Friends keep working on yourself because “Sometime it delays but Hardwork always pays”.

After that, I went to Banglore for TES 40 on 7 sep and got recommended there also. I just hope that my experience will help you all. Keep going.

Joining Indian Army OTA Chennai – AIR 53 CDS

1
CDS exam recommended

Hello everyone, I am Akash Chaudhary, AIR-53 for CDS OTA. This was my fifth attempt and the first conference as I was screened out in my previous attempts. Everything went on well during the entire duration of 5 days except in the command task where my subordinates got nervous and the bridge that I had made to get them out collapsed and GTO very smartly got me out of finishing line. Now I was watching my subordinates struggling to make it and sensing the opportunity GTO began building pressure which further tensed my subordinates. Out of my instincts, I made a cantilever bridge from finishing line and got my subordinates out with 3 seconds to spare.
SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

I had my interview on 3 days, IO asked me about why I did not take any break for prepration after 12th and studied in private college. I told him that I was an average student in academics, taking a year off would not have been a wise decision as I thought that it will be a waste of time and money of my parents. He gave a smile and it continued nicely.

Now came the conference, everyone was called in sequence. Everyone got in and came out very quickly but I had to wait and after 20 minutes or so, the electricity went off. All the officers got out of the conference hall and I was sitting in the lobby, tense and nervous. My palms were sweating, my heart beats beating usain bolt in pace. Another 15 minutes later, electricity was back and they all got in. And the waiting game started again.

I knew it was perhaps my last chance, I knew I had waited years to get to this moment and today was the day, it’s now or never. I knew they will bombard me with questions, I decided to go and play like Sehwag.

Then after endless waiting my chest number flashed. I got up, repeated the sequence of ‘how to open the door to wishing the president’. Today I didn’t wanted any silly mistakes.
I took a deep breath and went in with the smile.

After the introduction.
The president asked, “Akash, when you were waiting outside electricity went off, what were you doing during that time?” Sir, i was enjoying myself. My life is about to change in a few minutes from now, so I was just relaxing and living the moment.
Everyone laughed, Oohh thats nice Akash but you must have felt the heat as the Fan went off, how did you manage in these formals, isn’t it too hot?
Sir, when the electricity was gone, AC’s here went off too, I managed just like you did.

You are doing well sehwag, just don’t get out in overexcitement, my mind told me.

Tell me 5 things in ssb that narrrates your experience precisely?

Tell me three things that you will tell your friend to get recommended?

What will you do if you get recommmended today?

Then he asked me what will you repeat amond all three techniques if given a chance?

I said i will repeat the command task,

he said why?

Sir, its because I had forgotten one of my helping material inside, I would like to take it out this time.

Whose fault it was?, yours or your subordinate’s?

Sir mine, because my mates were doing whaterever I was commanding them to do. I was the leader it was my job to finish everything. But I will improve it.

I told him that the food was better than my hostel mess so i will not be complaining about it.

Some 50 minutes and around 25 30 questions later, I was asked to leave.

I knew I have played well, I had spoken in firm confident English without any fumble. I was satisfied.

Later when the results were announced only one had made it,

Guess who?

11 Points You Must Know About Supreme Court Aadhaar Verdict

0

The Supreme Court on Wednesday 26th  Sep 2018 made a landmark judgment on Aadhaar Card. The Supreme Court upheld the legality of Aadhaar restricting it to disbursement of social benefits and removing its requirement for cell phones and bank accounts, reported news agency IANS. Below are few main observations of the supreme court #AadhaarVerdict which will help you in current affairs and GK section of various competitive exams.
SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

  1. Individuals and corporates cannot collect Aadhaar data.
  2. Government not to give Aadhaar to illegal immigrants.
  3. Aadhaar need not be made compulsory for school admissions.
  4. Linking Aadhaar to telecom services unconstitutional.
  5. No person can be denied govt benefits only due to the absence of Aadhaar.
  6. No need to link bank accounts, mobile numbers to Aadhaar.
  7. Aadhaar card is mandatory for PAN linking, Income Tax return.
  8. Aadhaar can be passed as Money Bill.
  9. Nothing in Aadhaar Act that violates the right to privacy of an individual.
  10. No child can be denied benefits of any schemes on not being able to bring their Aadhaar number.
  11. CBSE, NEET, UGC cannot make Aadhaar mandatory, also not compulsory for school admissions.

Supreme Court’s observations on Aadhaar: news agency IANS

  • It is better to be unique than the best. Because, being the best makes you the number one, but being unique makes you the only one. ‘Unique makes you the only one’ is the central message of Aadhaar.
  • Education took us from thumb impression to signature, technology has taken us from signature to thumb impression, again.
  • The architecture of the Aadhaar Act reveals that the UIDAI is established as a statutory body which is given the task of developing the policy, procedure and system for issuing Aadhaar numbers to individuals and also to perform authentication thereof as per the provisions of the Act.
  • Throughout their lives, individuals are supposed to provide information: be it admission in a school or college or at the time of taking job or engaging in any profession or business activity, etc.
  • When all this information is available in one place, in the form of Aadhaar card, it not only becomes unique, it would also qualify as a document of empowerment. Added with this feature, when an individual knows that no other person can clone it, it assumes greater significance.
  • The scheme (Aadhaar) by itself can be treated as laudable, more so, when it is voluntary in nature. Howsoever benevolent the scheme may be, it has to pass the muster of constitutionality.aadhaar card verdict
  • In a scenario where the State is coming out with welfare schemes, there cannot be undue intrusion into personal autonomy on the pretext of conferment of economic benefits.
  • The architecture of Aadhaar as well as provisions of the Aadhaar Act do not tend to create a surveillance state. This is ensured by the manner in which the Aadhaar project operates.
  • The use of Aadhaar number has been increased manifold and, therefore, it is also necessary to take measures relating to ensuring security of the information provided by the individuals while enrolling for Aadhaar card.
  • The entire aim behind launching this programme is the ‘inclusion’ of the deserving persons who need to get such benefits. When it is serving much larger purpose by reaching hundreds of millions of deserving persons, it cannot be crucified on the unproven plea of exclusion of some.
  • What we are emphasising is that remedy is to plug the loopholes rather than axe a project, aimed for the welfare of large section of the society. Obviously, in order to address the failures of authentication, the remedy is to adopt alternative methods for identifying such persons, after finding the causes of failure in their cases.
  • We again emphasise that no person rightfully entitled to the benefits shall be denied the same on such grounds. It would be appropriate if a suitable provision be made in the concerned regulations for establishing an identity by alternative means, in situations like change in formation of fingerprints for various reasons, or failure of iris test due to certain reasons including blindness of a person.
Current Affairs eBooks

Following are the 10 questions which the apex court considered during the verdict.

1. Whether Aadhaar creates or has tendency to create surveillance state and is, thus, unconstitutional

No. Court rules the argument that Aadhaar would create an architecture for surveillance wasn’t well founded, and that it struck down any provisions of the Act that could give rise to such fears.

2. Whether the Aadhaar Act violates right to privacy and is unconstitutional

No. Court rules nothing in the Aadhaar Act violates right to privacy of individual — as defined by the previous SC judgment that held Right to Privacy to be a fundamental right — and that most of the data collected could be considered “in public domain”.

3. Whether children, benefits to them & school admissions can be brought within Aadhaar Act

No. Article 21A of the Constitution guarantees right to education as a fundamental right and insisting on an Aadhaar card would infringe on this right as well as on a child’s right to privacy. Consent of the parent or guardian is essential to enroll a child. On attaining majority, the child can choose to exit from Aadhaar.

4. Whether certain provisions of the Aadhaar Act relating to enrolment, updates, residency, involving private agencies in enrolment, etc are unconstitutional

The court did not find a basis for some of the apprehensions as it felt encryption and security of data is satisfactory and reasonable safeguards are in place, but made some suggestions regarding amendments and changes.

5. Whether the Aadhaar Act defies the concept of limited government, good governance and constitutional trust

The court observes, “…it is difficult to agree with the sweeping proposition advanced by the petitioners that the Aadhaar project is destructive of limited government and constitutional trust,” adding, it has struck down, read down or tweaked “some provisions which we found offending”.

6. Whether the Act could be passed as a ‘Money Bill’ within the meaning of Article 110 of the Constitution

Yes. Four of the judges saw no problem in the Act going through as a Money Bill but Justice Chandrachud called it “a fraud on the Constitution” and a “subterfuge”.

7. Whether Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961 relating to linking of Aadhaar and PAN violates the right to privacy and is unconstitutional

No

8. Whether Rule 9(a)(17) and notification of Prevention of Money Laundering Rules, 2005, which mandate linking of Aadhaar with bank accounts, are unconstitutional

Yes. The court rules it does not meet the test of proportionality and is also violative of the right to privacy of a person that extends to banking details. It also observes no explanations have been given on how mandatory linking of every bank account will eradicate or reduce problems of money laundering and black money.

9. Whether telecom dept’s circular dated March 23, 2017 mandating linking of mobile no. with Aadhaar is illegal and unconstitutional

Yes. Court rules it was a disproportionate and unreasonable state compulsion, and that for the misuse of SIM cards by a handful of persons, the entire population cannot be subjected to intrusion into their private lives.

10. Whether certain actions of the respondents are in contravention of the interim orders passed by the court

Court observes that the state was unable to respond to the petitioners’ contention about their being lesser rights-invasive measures for the same purpose. Emphasises that financial exclusion caused due to errors in Aadhaar-based authentication violate an individual’s right to dignity.

I entered in the hall with a good posture and wished the president and he told me to sit. My IO asked me about my performance in the SSB and told me to rate and I replied my reason for this. Next question was why this attempt is different from last attempts. I answered that the implementation of my planning and preparation is as it is, as I planned.
