Manufacturing of the defence platforms in the domestic market and promoting India as a defence equipment manufacturer has been facilitated by the “Strategic partnership model” which is a collaboration between Indian strategic partners and foreign original equipment manufacturer (OEP). The facility will support the long term Indian vision of self-sufficiency and setting a production hub for defence equipments.

Apart from this, various military exercises such as Maitree, Indra, Malabar, RIMPAC, Harimau Shakti to name few are also important for testing its compatibility in competitive environment. My Story From Delhi University to National Defence Academy

0
DELHI UNIVERSITY TO NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY

Hello Friends, I am Aasim Iqbal Siddiqui from U.P, Faizabad. I got recommended for NDA-141 from 19 SSB Allahabad in my second attempt. I am a very simple guy with the most wide range of interests. First things first. No one in my family is in defence forces, I was never a topper, I m not a Sainikian/APSian/RIMC/RIMS etc and Pakistan/China is a matter of few hours for Indian Defence Forces (plz don’t take it seriously anyone).  Well my interest in defence sprung first when my elder brother started preparing for NDA but unfortunately, he could not get through SSB interview. After not a very satisfying percentage in class 12, I started preparing for NDA-139 written but I was not able to get through written exam. Being a national level 100m sprinter, I got admission into Ramjas College with stats honours as my course. I again gave NDA-140 but again failed in written exam.

Statistics is a very demanding subject so this was also affecting my college studies. My family was of the opinion that I have got such a wonderful chance(Ramjas being a North Campus college of DU) to make a wonderful career out of my course and that I should not waste it on something that is next to impossible. This thought developed in my family off course because of my elder brother. Well, I had different plans I was not ready to give up. I told myself it is me who’ll have to make things work. I told myself this is it, I will clear written exam without any coaching. I will manage my college studies and sports at the same time and with satisfactory results. I skipped my winter vacation and didn’t go home, took out time from college on a daily basis, used free time that I got in college. I didn’t even tell my family members that I am preparing for NDA. I submitted all my files,   assignments, gave all tests, practicals in April month only and at the same time gave NDA written exam and cleared it but before this, I got my first SSB which was in February of Navy Tech in Bhopal in which I got screened out.

I had not done OIR very well. When the results were declared for NDA written exam my focus then shifted to SSB again. I started reading newspapers, gained a lot of knowledge within those 2 months and looked out for things where I lack. Parents are best for this, talk to them and get to know your weaknesses because they know you better than anyone on this planet and work hard upon it to improve yourself. After all this I reported SSB Allahabad, 64 reported and on the very first day 33 got screened in. I did OIR very well but during PPDT my story and narration were good but our discussion was more of a fish market and so we all were sent back within 2-3 minutes.

On day-2 we had our Psychology tests, I did 58 WAT,49 SRT,11 good stories, and a proper SD. Being a fresher I was put to interview on the same day. I had my interview with President of the board and it when on for about 50 minutes and I was troubled with all sorts of questions related to GK, current affairs (SCO, COMCASA, Iran nuclear deal, Insurgency in North East, Rohingya, NATO,  South Pacific Silk route, string of Pearls etc), personal, situational, weaknesses, sports, geography and of course from a very wide range of hobbies and interests.SSB NDA Recommended

I was asked about snakes, big cats, space science apart from this, well I enjoyed my interview a lot because I had written those things myself and so I knew it properly. From next day started GTO tasks and by this time I had developed very good bonding with my group as we used to play call break multiplier each evening (of course we changed all rules in that ). On GTO Day 1 we had GD, GPE, PGT, HGT, GOR, Lecturette, and Individual Obstacles also. In each GD I spoke for 4-5 times and had put some very good logical points including facts and figures, PGT and HGT I was the one to take my group through most structures with very good ideas. In Lecturette I spoke on Indo-Russia relations and gave a wonderful lecture, completed all obstacles and after a very tiring schedule, we went back to our lines(but our self-invented game never stopped ). Next day was GTO Day-2 and we were left with only command task and FGT. My command task was hell, it was so tough with everything red in it, I could hardly see any white or blue.

My GTO talked to me about my stay, my hometown, family members and all of a sudden asked “Who would you never call from your group?”….I told him, sir, no one…my group is very good..then he told no..you have to take one name…I said sir chest no.7..that was me myself……and then he laughed and changed his question and said excluding you and you have to take one name…then I had to give a name because I was left with no other option. After that I was able to do my command with some amount of indirect helps from GTO sir and that too from two different approaches. Day ended and I was satisfied with my overall performance. In my conference I was asked some very general questions regarding my stay, suggestions and was then sent back. After conference, we all were seated together and our technical officer came to declare results and again all those examples of Amitabh, Shahrukh, Kalam Sir etc were given and results were declared.

My chest no. was called out first and that was the moment I realised that how close I have reached to Academy. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for 10 seconds. I could see my brother’s face who would be so so so happy to hear that I am recommended, well 4 of us got recommended and unfortunately, no one besides me got recommended from my group. After that medical started from the next day I was given 3 TR’s. I cleared all 3 now and have been declared fit by AMB and now waiting for merit list.

To all the defence aspirants out there my one and only advice is guys keep on working hard, have patience and stay focused no matter what happens. You all will be a part of defence forces one day for sure..believe in yourself. Same is for my elder brother..I am very sure he’ll make it someday if not today and will be the finest officer that our country has ever got…SSBCrack helped me to get a good idea as to what SSB is and what do they expect from us. Thank u all.Jai Hind Jai Bharat

P.S- Don’t fall for Amitabh waale examples ….fall for Shaheed Capt. Vikram Batra waale examples and keep on trying..never give up.

50+ Personal Life Questions Asked In SSB Interview

0

The interview is a very important part of your SSB. IO has different ways of testing whether the person is fit enough for being an officer or not and some questions he asks are all at a go and they confuse the candidates and they generally go with the flow and answer something which dismisses their chances of selection. The candidate would need to grasp the questions being asked and respond in the same order as they were asked. Generally, the questions asked all at a go is divided into 6 CIQs or Comprehensive Information Questionnaire. These are standard questions asked by any Interviewing Officer in one go as follows:
SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

Important:

  1. Personal questions are asked to know more about your personality and check your knowledge and awareness about your own self.
  2. One must know about himself in and out, not only for SSB interview but to get success in life, one must know about his personality, good, bad, strengths, and weakness.
  3. While answering personal questions, your thoughts must be clear and you must answer with full confidence because you know yourself better than anyone else.
  4. Personal questions do not have right or wrong answers, you need to speak based on your beliefs and experiences. All you need to do is back up what you say, and you can only speak with confidence when you believe in things you are speaking, do not say something just for the sake of it or to look good.50+ PERSONAL LIFE QUESTIONS IN SSB INTERVIEW

Personal Self

  1. What is the meaning of your name?
  2. Meaning of other member’s names in your family.
  3. Name of place you come from and it’s significance.
  4. Any famous personality who come from the same place as yours
  5. Everything about your previous and current profession.
  6. Your 3 weaknesses and strengths.
  7. What all activities you do in your spare time.
  8. Your hobbies and interests.
  9. Also, tell me about your daily routine from morning till night.

It is very important for you to answer these questions clearly and confidently because this is something you can not prepare from a book or school, these are personal questions and one who knows himself in and out can answer them easily. Tell about everything frankly.

About Academics

  1. Tell me about your academic performance starting from your 10th till the graduation.
  2. Tell me the percentages scored by you in each class.
  3. Also tell me the games, sports and extra-curricular activities that you took part in your school and college.
  4. Also, do tell me who are your best friends and favorite teachers and what qualities you like in them.
  5. Tell me about your relationship with your friends and teachers and also tell me about your favorite subjects.
  6. 3 teachers, you did not like and why.
  7. Who is the worst/best boss/subordinate/colleague you have ever worked with and why? You may start.

Sir, I was a good performer in my school and college, above average. However, my scores are less as I go higher the classes- owing mostly to the extra-curricular and NCC I was a part of in my engineering.

My scores are —————. Justify your scoring fewer marks.

Apart from this, I was also a part of a college team/student body/NCC and as suited. My favorite teacher is XYZ because he explains the concepts better and as many times as I ask him. Hence, XXX is also my favorite subject because XYZ it is very practical and I understand it very well. I do not have any teacher particularly whom I hate but there is one teacher whom I like the least – XYZ because she is XYZ.

I do not have any best friends in particular because I have given them that much liberty and after that, I have my family, my studies and my career to take care of. At one time, you have a best friend in school, then in college, near home, and after completing college, one might have another best friend from work. So, it is very variable in my case. I do have a very wide circle of friends and whenever I meet them, the circle changes and I adapt myself according to it – my college friends, NCC friends, neighbor friends, school friends, friends I made from various national level camps around India and so forth.

However, I do have very good friends who are close to me and if I have to rank them, it would be XYZ and ZYX with whom I spend and share most of my time with.

Friends/Girlfriend/Boyfriend

  1. What type of friends you like.
  2. What type of friends you do not like.
  3. What places have you visited with your friends?
  4. Tell 3 qualities of your best friend.
  5. Tell 3 differences between you and your best friend.
  6. Tell 3 qualities you do not like in your best friend.
  7. How your friend will describe you?
  8. What are 3 things your friends do not like about you?
  9. Why are these people your friends,
  10. Tell a few instances where you helped your friends.

I like the kind of friends who mingle along easily, are adventurous, own up to their actions and respond to any initiatives. I do not like people who are self-obsessed and are introvert. We have toured Goa, LA, and plan to go to XYZ. These people are my friends because there are some things which are common in us. We honour everyone’s initiative to do something and encourage them. We help ourselves during exams, hang out together and share our happiness and sadness together.

Family

  1. How many members are there in your family.
  2. Who do you not like in your family and why?
  3. Give a short description and your relationship with each member, closer to whom, why closer, whom you admire.
  4. Compare yourself with a common quality of your family.
  5. Compare yourself with any of your brother/s or sister/s.
  6. 3 things you do not like in your father.
  7. How your parents will describe you.
  8. How your siblings will describe you.
  9. Occupation of working members in the family, job profile, salary etc.

We are a family of 4. Not any member that I do not like but if I have to rank them on my liking, I like my father least because of XYZ. I am close to my sister and admire my father the most because of his dedication. We have one common quality in our family that we accept our actions – be it good or bad and always stand up for what is right.

Intimate

  1. What are your plans on getting married to your girl/boyfriend?
  2. Have you ever had physical relations with someone?
  3. Do you watch p*orn?
  4. Why do you watch p*orn?
  5. What quality do you like in your GF/BF?

The answer might differ from person to person, but if it were me I’d say – ‘sir, I deny to answer this question.’

On Defence/GK/CA

  1. What do you know about Indian armed forces?
  2. Tell me 3 current affairs in news right now?
  3. Why do you want to join the defence?
  4. What if you didn’t make it?
  5. What are your alternate career options?
  6. Did you try for NDA, why not succeeded?
  7. Why not proper efforts were given?
  8. How will you benefit the organisation if selected?
  9. What improvements do you think are required in Indian armed forces?
  10. What is your stand on Kashmir Issue?
  11. What do you think about the modernization of the armed forces?

Conclusion:

The best way to prepare for Interview is to question yourself and cross-question yourself again and again. Write down your responses as a flowchart and make sure your answers match with your responses in Psych tests.

Every question is asked in 5-6 sets of Comprehensive Information Questionnaire. Read about it here.

How To Do Well In The GD – Tips By Recommended Candidates

1
gd recommended
gd recommended

Group discussion, as a selection technique, is mainly designed to test the behavioural and influential skills of a candidate in a group. The other areas which are tested in a GD are communication skills, knowledge and ideas regarding a given subject, the capability to coordinate and lead, etc. Lower familiarity with the random GD topic and no preparation time makes the job easier for the assessor while making things difficult for the candidates.
SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

A typical group discussion generally has 6-10 participants (the GTO group) and lasts for 15 to 20 minutes. It means that each candidate gets 2-3 minutes to talk; the rest of the time is spent listening.

Recommended Candidates Tips To Prepare For GD:

  1. Start Reading:

Reading a book or an editorial aloud for around 15 minutes daily will enhance fluency, the tone of voice and articulation. If possible, try speaking in front of a mirror to tackle nervousness.

  1. Do Discussions in Daily Life:

Start having discussions with your friends and family. It will be more informal where you can assess yourself and organize your thoughts.

  1. Present Facts to the Group:

A good point with some facts and numbers will make everybody listen to what you have to say. This generally helps in presenting your points in the discussion after you’ve already spoken.

  1. Knowing current affairs is a must:

Since the group discussion topic is always a recent controversial topic, if a candidate updated with current affairs, content is not an issue. If not, start reading newspapers and watch the news.

  1. Listen:

Listening is a crucial part of group discussion. It indicates your teamwork and cooperation with the group. The best strategy is to speak for 30-40 seconds and then let others speak. Then after 4-5 minutes, again speak for about a minute with facts and number and listen to others. After that, keep on giving 1-2 points after every 1 or 2 minutes.

  1. Be Formal:

With the typical fauji environment, it is common for candidates to hurl abuses while chit chatting among each other. But not in GD where you must use formal language. Address other participants with respect. Do not make a lot of gestures while you are not speaking. Avoid using extreme words and extreme statements.

  1. Do not prick others:

There are candidates who tend to poke people sitting next to them by elbows or hands – consciously or subconsciously. Do not be that person. Also, do not point to a specific participant while talking. Do not get personal; try to be objective in your arguments. This is not a debate, but a discussion. There is a difference.

  1. Disagree:

This is the most important point. Do not go on agreeing with all the people every time. Disagree with the candidates who are supporting other reasons. Remember, you have to support your own reason with correct facts and figures. If you are disagreeing with someone else do it civilly. Disagree with the point and not with the person.

  1. Talk with figures:

It is really hard to remember all the figures and numbers to support a point. At the same time, you cannot fully avoid the numbers. In that case, if you are 90% familiar with the topic, there is a good chance that a guess on a figure would work. For e.g., if you state a fact that most of the youth are addicted to mobile phones nowadays, there is a good chance if you say that “87% of the youth between 12-25 in 95% of urban India is addicted to smartphone” will work. Remember, these are totally random numbers but there are very high chances that these are true.

Conclusion:

In the GD, a candidate should be able to convey his/her thoughts satisfactorily and convincingly to the group. Knowledge of the given subject, power of expression and clarity of thought are the things that are evaluated. Always remember, GD is always on a controversial topic so that you have enough points to speak on it.

Fake Indian Army Officer Arrested

Fake Indian Army Officer

Source TOI: A man impersonating as a lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army was arrested for forgery and misusing the Army uniform on Wednesday. Arvind Mishra, 40, from Bahraich, had been staying in Lucknow since 2017. He had created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Lt Col Rahul Mishra and posted his photograph in an Army uniform. He had cheated several people, especially young women, by promising them jobs and taking money in return. Officials of Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI) are also interrogating Mishra and had assisted in his arrest.

Two revolvers, a pistol, a white car with the emblem of 1/11 Gorkha Rifles, bank passbooks, laptops and mobile phones were recovered from Arvind. Nodal officer of cyber cell Abhay Mishra said, “For the past 15 days, we had been getting various complaints from girls about being duped by an Army officer. During the investigation, Arvind’s fake profile surfaced. He had also cheated many women on matrimonial sites, claiming to be an Army officer. Through surveillance and DMI assistance, found that he was in Lucknow.”
When Mishra was stopped in Hazratganj and asked to identify himself, he began dropping names of senior police officers. He was in ‘uniform’ but had no Army identity card. After a volley of questions, he succumbed and confessed to being an imposter. An MBA degree holder, Mishra had worked in a private company till 2017.

“In a short time, I started getting name and fame, permission to enter any place and invitations to parties. I also evaded toll tax,” he added. He even availed of travel discounts for Army personnel. Mishra has had two failed marriages. In both, there were cases of fraud against him.

Indian Army Plans To Remove Brigadier Rank

ARMY PLANS TO REMOVE BRIGADIER RANK

Indian Army chief General Bipin Singh Rawat is focusing on restructuring and reformation exercises in the Indian Army for the betterment. There are changes that have already been proposed and some even executed, it is now being said that the army will remove the Brigadier rank and may create the post of a deputy chief of army staff. Posts of the brigadier and lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army are likely to be abolished to increase the promotional chances of the officers under the revamp of the Army being worked out.

There will be then seven ranks. The change is expected by this year end or early next year after the government receives the report of four specialist panels constituted under four retired lieutenant generals on various aspects of revamping the Army, the Army sources said.

The proposals so far given the final shape envisage that an officer in the rank of the major will be directly promoted as the colonel, a selection grade post, while the colonel will be directly promoted as the major general. So far the posts up to the Lt. Colonel were the time-scale posts.

One of the panels working on the revamp agreed that most of the officers get a brake on their career at the stage of the colonel. It means most of the officers retired at the rank of the colonel which is equivalent to the post of a director in the civil services where as those joining the central services mostly reach the rank of joint secretary and above. A solution to the problem was felt in reducing the total number of ranks.

Another issue that attracted the attention is the different retirement ages in the Army as against one joining the civilian cadre like IAS or IPS superannuates only at 60. If a Lt Colonel is not promoted, he retires at 52 while the colonel retires at 54 unless promoted to the next rank of brigadier. The retirement age of brigadier is 56, Major General 58 and Lt General 60. The General or Chief of Army Staff has tenure up to 62 years.

The Army sources said there is not much stagnation in the Navy and the Air Force because of lesser ranks. The rank equivalent to that of colonel in the Navy is Captain and in the Air Force who become Commodore and Air Commodore within a few years. Since only three colonels are promoted as brigadiers out of 10, most of them are retired at 54.

Earlier there used to be 10 ranks in the Army and one used to join as a second lieutenant after completing the course in the defence academy. The post of the second lieutenant is, however, abolished and so all join straight in the rank of the lieutenants.
