SSB Recommended For Indian Army Through TGC 122 In My 3rd Attempt

0
SSB Recommended Candidate Allahabad

Hey, friends. I am Ankit Mamgain recommended Indian army through TGC 122 in my 3rd attempt from 11 SSB Allahabad. I was always fascinated by olive green uniform with stars on your shoulders and always wanted to join the army. My SSB journey started in Feb 2015 for UES Indian Navy at 33 SSB Bhopal as a fresher with little knowledge about the process and I got conference out. I had no idea about the process and everything was new to me.  During my final semester I applied for SSC tech 45 but due to lack of preparation of GD I got screened out. Though I did prepare for GK and about Indian army but I forgot about the basic activity that is how to speak well. Friends, do prepare for GDs as it is very important. Especially if you are repeater, it is very important. Talk to your friends and family in daily life try to take a discussion happening as the group discussion. Don’t shout though. Just think and talk and move the flow of discussion to your side. It helped me a lot guys. Also I took some minor coaching from Col. R.K Gupta Sir from Ambala Cantt and it helped me a lot understanding the facts of all process of SSB. Though it was not a kind of formal coaching.

oir test and ppdt

Then finally I applied for TGC-122 and got a call for SSB on 5th November. After my last ssb I started working for a startup as a Marketing Manager and eventually I started enjoying my work. Just one day before the date of reporting I was talking to my friend and I told him I am in no mood of attending the interview. He kicked my ass for that and told me to go for it even if you are back on day 1. I thought lets try again.

I reached Allahabad on 4th Nov morning. Slept whole day and reported on Platform 1 of Allahabad Railway station. Around 300 candidates reported for TGC 122 and 300 for SSC Tech 46. Made some good friends on my way to SSB centre. After reaching SSB centre and document verification the test started. Verbal and non-Verbal test went well. After the test a PPDT started. A hazy picture of a man sitting in an office with a man showing some papers to him was shown to us. After the PPDT, group of 20 students were made and the GD started. My narration was bang on and in discussion I spoke only once but clearly and with proper modulation of my voice. I was not expecting my name but the result came and my chest number was announced. 165 it was. It felt good but I knew the main battle has just started. Fill you PIQ properly guys. It matters  a lot. Avoid cutting and overwriting.

Next day was for Psychology Tests. I did well in TAT, WAT, SRT by writing positive stories and sentences and using common sense while answering SRT. Guys all SRT’s can be done using common sense nothing else. Attempted 50 SRT’s and completed all Words on time. Wrote honest SD.

Next day was GTO. The basic thing that matters in all task of GTO is cooperation. During GD’s stick to one lead that is given by GTO. During PGT’s just cooperate. Speak loudly and try to implement ideas. If you have no idea, help in implementing other idea given by your group. Shift position if you think someone has good idea. It will strengthen your position in group. Same thing goes for HGT. During Group obstacle race, shout the war cry as loud and often as you can. If GTO says someone has broken a rule, go back and do it even if you have not done it. Help the weak members of the group and always have a winning smile on your face. Then was individual obstacle task. I completed 10 obstacles  and gave my best and GTO saw that. Next was the day 2 of GTO and the interview was scheduled. The day started with command task.  When I was called GTO had a friendly discussion and asked my who is best in your group. I said I stand at no 1 position as I have given 100%. I was called thrice and during my chance the task was of moderate difficulty but I got completely flipped when I saw my task. One stupid mistake I did was after trying for few minutes I asked my sub ordinates whether they have any idea or not. GTO scolded me and asked me to do it myself and don’t give in easily. The command task took 25 mins but eventually I was able to complete it. During the task GTO was shouting at me for taking so much time and many times said 2 3 mins left, 30 sec left but I didn’t give in. I was disappointed after the task as I could’ve done better. Still, I did well in Final group task with full enthusiasm as it was in my PGT.

My interview went for 15 20 mins. I was interviewed by Dep. President of 11 SSB. It was all a friendly discussion. I gave confident reply to every question and answered politely that Sir, I don’t know but ill surely find out about it. Basically the interview went on around my life events.

Then the final day arrived. The D-day. I was not sure whether I’ll be selected or not but was happy with my performance this time as I gave my 100%. It took around 10 15 mins before my chest number was displayed and then I realized maybe I have a chance. When I went in they asked me about my experience. Next question was in 10 lines tell me what you’ve learnt this time. The 10th point I Said was Sir, I came to know how to get recommended as I’ll be getting recommended this time for sure. Asked me questions which Dep. President asked me during an interview.  Then he said why army. You have done B.tech then you are working in marketing and then Army. After my conference I went to have a quick bite with my friends and as soon as I came back we were called for the result announcement. The officer came and started with the chest number. My chest number was announced after two candidates and it took a moment to realize it was my chest no. Chest no 30 it was. 5 candidates were recommended out of which 3 candidates were previously recommended candidates and 2 including me were repeaters.

The best feeling of my life and that too unexpected. I want to thank my parents, Col. R.K Gupta and my friends for motivating me and telling me that I had it in me. Special shout out to SSBCrack for their efforts and the awesome book “let’s crack ssb interview” they published. I bought that just 2 weeks before my SSB and it helped me a lot. Medicals will start from 16th of this month and fingers crossed all will be well.

Thanks for reading my experience.

Ragging Forces Cadets To Drop Out Of National Defence Academy

1
NDA Cadets Ragging

Physical torture, inflicted on cadets under the pretext of “training”, has led to an alarming number of them dropping out of the premier National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune. Forty cadets, of the 127th course, out of the roughly 400 cadets that were admitted in the academy, chose not to complete their course and leave midway.

Officials suggest that this is the highest number of dropouts that the NDA has ever witnessed. As of 1 January 2014, the Indian Army is short of 8,455 officers.

The guardians of the cadets who were forced to take their wards out of the NDA midway, said that the strenuous physical exercise, amounting to physical torture, which was inflicted on the cadets under the pretext of training, was the reason why they pulled their children out of the academy. “I was aware that life in NDA would be physically demanding for my son, but what they do there is nothing but torture. Which training says that the cadet should be asked to run around for miles with another cadet on his shoulders? Or stomp on someone’s palms if he is not able to do 100 push-ups? Are these a part of the official training module, which has been designed by the Ministry of Defence?” asked the father of a former cadet, who is working in a public sector undertaking bank. He did not want to give his name.

A list of queries sent to the commandant and the public relations officer of the NDA remained unanswered. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence and the Minister of State for Defence too did not reply to the queries that were sent by this newspaper.

Some retiring and serving military personnel stated that “physical exercise” has always been a necessary ingredient in the training of cadets in military academies around the world. “What some civilians call torture, is nothing but a part of physical training in the NDA. The training is required so that in a war like condition the soldier is not found wanting,” said an Indian Navy officer of the rank of lieutenant colonel.

However, a former naval cadet, who left his training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) midway because of ragging, and is now working as a judicial magistrate, said that ragging cannot be romanticised as a part of training. “Those who pass out from these institutions, after going through that ragging, try to romanticise it by saying that it made them tough. However, no form of ragging, amounting to physical torture, is justified under any pretext,” he said.

Interestingly, the 16th report of the Standing Committee on Defence tabled in August 2012, which dealt with the functioning of Sainik schools in the country, also focused on the “menace of ragging” in these schools that prepare students for the military service.

In 2009, an NDA cadet, Nitesh Guar, a resident of Bhopal, who died after participating in a cross country run, had earlier told his parents that he was being continuously ragged by his seniors.

This newspaper also came across at least two videos, posted on various video sharing sites, that showed cadets being beaten up by their senior cadets. The videos, that were shot “secretly”, did not mention the location or the time of the incidents.

Military Relations between India and Small Asian Nations

1
Military-Relations-between-India-an--Small-Asian-Nations

Cooperation and support are the spokes of peaceful and communal society. The same theory is applicable at international level. India is gathering arms, acquiring weapons, warheads and also devoting major efforts in manufacturing them in India.

Brahmos, supersonic cruise missile, which successfully tested in land and sea versions and now undergoing trials of air version, is now attracting south east nations. The missile is a joint venture of India and Russia. Brahmos crew itself directed inclination of Southeast Asian nations like Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. during Defense and security military Expo, which is going on in Bangkok. The missile will perform better for those nations. The range of Brahmas is 300 Km, which is sufficient for those nations to secure their territory and its supersonic feature makes it closer to their hearts.

Brahmos has recently been tested from INS Kochi, India’s stealth destroyer.  This has been a point of interest of Southeast Asian nations. Its modification in land, sea and air versions has made it a good choice.

Well, it’s not the first time when India is seen planning or exporting defense material to other nations. Maldives, a nation which is currently going through political crisis also received Trinkat Class Fast Attack Craft in 2006 as gift. Bangladesh, Seychelles, Mauritius, etc. are other nations whom India has helped in arms and defense sector. India has exported assault riffiles, some helicopters and naval vessels to friend nations .Some news were surfaced recently about India offering homemade aircraft Tejas to Sri Lanka to counter Pakistani jet JF17.  Further actions are still awaited. If Sri Lanka accepts the proposal then India’s Tejas will once again come to the lime light attracting more nations. India was approached by some nations for Akaash missile also.

India-Vietnam’s deal in the field of exploring oil was also seen to be supporting small nation and providing help. Currently, Chinese president Xi Jimping is on a visit to Vietnam with major aim to eradicate and resolve territorial disputes over South China Sea.

In the month of June, this year, DRDO has made a list of weapons that has to be exported weapons arms and warheads including jet aircraft. As revealed by the top officials of DRDO, Tejas, Brahmos, Prahar class missiles with 150 km range, Akash air defense system and some others are in the list of arms that can be exported or offered to other nations. DRDO officials also said that sometimes Indian arms are a lot cheaper and affordable. This makes India-made arms a good choice for small nations. Strategic long range missiles sold by China to Saudi Arabia have 2-3 times cost of production as that of India.Military-Relations-between-India-an--Small-Asian-Nations

Since last few years, importing has been on a limit in India and India’s indigenous defense production. With several Indian companies running in defense production field, India is emerging as a new defence giant. Some requirements in Indian armed forces are being filled by procurement. India’s arm export is heading a bright future. But still some obstacles effects it like recently contradictions among HAL and Ecuador over HAL made helicopters ongoing crashes. Some problems in India made tanks Arjun have also been encountered in the beginning of this year. India needs to be making its arms perfect along with affordability. As the signs are directing, India is approaching a tag of a big arm exporter.

Drought and Fortune Hit Farmers

0
Drought-and-Fortune-Hit-Farmers

Drought hit nations are suffering from various kinds of challenges and obstacles. India, known for agrarian economy, green revolution and its hard core farmers are now under questions. Many Indian states have declared their tehsils, villages’ districts which have been hit by drought to make them avail compensation. Now let’s take a look at data revealed by IMD.

Recently, Indian meteorological department has revealed the data about India’s drought records. 18 out of 36 states and union territories were hit by the shortage of rain fall and is going deeper, 302 districts out of 641 received sub- par rain. Many states of India have been recording the drought data and some states have declared their districts as drought hit. 141 districts are from Karnataka Maharashtra, Odessa, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh while Indian meteorological department, just half of them has recorded deficient rainfall. Secondly, four states have so far declared drought, but as per the data by IMD, they have received normal rainfall. Odessa government has announced 21 districts out of 30 as drought hit, while IMD says that just 8 have faced reduced rainfall. On the other hand Karnataka has declared 27 districts have drought hit while just 12 got deficient rainfall. Talking about Andhra Pradesh, 13 were mentioned by government as drought hit, where IMD says only 2 got reduced rainfalls. This scenario is wider and some other states like Rajasthan, Bihar, Gujarat, Telangana, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh will be in the group shorty.

Drought-and-Fortune-Hit-Farmers

Declaring areas as drought hit is not the end. Some states have released funds to help farmers who have faced wrath of nature. Recently, Chhattisgarh has announced 4000 cr compensation for the 110 tehsils which were declared drought   hit. While 1398cr have been allotted by the Jharkhand government for the farmers.  Madhya Pradesh has also cleared 8000 cr budget to support drought hit farmers.  Some other states are also in the queue. These compensations were made to help farmers to support them form their crashed crops and gearing them for further cropping.

Now here a point arises that declaring drought hit districts helps whom and how. When a state or center declares drought hit, districts, farmers can avail compensation for their crop damages due to weather fluctuations. Some other things that farmers can get it ease in loan, drinking water, livestock support, etc. and when huge amount of compensation is allotted, problem of money leakage and misusage by unauthorized and non-targeted people occurs, that will enjoy the compensation leaving behind the needy. Just allotting fund means nothing, but keeping vigil over the fund and its distribution is a crucial part of this.

Indian farmers are facing serious problems from many sides. Several districts have taken measures to support the farmers as the count of farmers in going down. Climate change, unseasonal rainfall, drought, etc. have made several farmers to leave their job and somewhere it resulted in suicide of farmers. This year several farmers have committed suicide, leaving behind burdens of loans and negligible savings for their families.
