How To Become A MARCOS-Marine Commando

Special Forces play a crucial role in neutralizing the terror threats and maintaining internal peace in the nation. As the name signifies, the force is specialized to respond to any terror threat and taking the required actions to avert it. As Indian armed forces have their own special forces like paramilitary force, GARUD etc. MARCOS is a special force that is maintained by Indian navy to handle emergency situations arising from various means.

Marine Commando Force (MCF). Being a branch of the Indian navy, the force is specialized in amphibious warfare, counter terrorism, unconventional warfare, rescue operation, etc. the force is active since 1987 and currently has nearly 2000 soldiers serving in the organization. They are known for their action in 26/11 Mumbai attacks. It is attached with the Indian army in to operate in northern areas like Kashmir. Not only this, they were also engaged in operation Cactus, Leech, Pawan, Cyclone etc. Their remarkable job was appreciated in many operations. The motto of this force is “The few the fearless”.How To Become A MARCOS-Marine Commando

Recruitment – Heading to the recruitment of MARCOS, all commandos are male and being a naval fragment all its personal. The selection is done at the early age of soldiers, i.e. in the 20s of fresh soldiers to maintain the strength and josh in the force. Well, as per the criteria, the aspirants get a chance to get inducted in the Indian navy through NDA, CDS, SSC etc. and also through direct recruitment for lower posts. The required basic physical strength is high and so is the training process. So aspirants to get into this organization, you need to first become a part of the Indian navy. The selection process consists of two parts. First one is three days long where a soldier’s physical stamina is accessed. The next phase of screening is tougher and then makes the final selection of soldiers for further training. The screening or selection phase rejects more than half applicants on the basis of their physical stamina required for the force.

Training– As far as training is concerned; it takes 2-3 years to train a MARCOS commando. The majority of training of MARCOS takes place over INS Abhimanyu. The training actually takes place at various agencies of Indian navy and the Indian army. They also get training with army’s paramilitary force at Indian special force training school.

So all aspirants planning to become MARCOS are required to become naval soldiers first, and then they will get a chance to get golden chance to join the elite force, MARCOS. Being a part of special force is a matter of honor for a soldier.

I Got Recommended In 6th Attempt For Indian Air Force Meteorology Branch

0
Meteorology Branch SSB Experience

Hello friends, my name is VARANASI ADITYA PAVAN from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. I completed my M.Sc. physics in 2014. I gave 5 attempts to enter into my dreamed organisation, first three are conference out and next two are screened out. For meteorology branch this is my 3rd attempt.

It was a warm morning in the month of April in Mysore, we all around 105 members gathered at Mysore rly. Station, some of air force personnel’s came and taken us to the AFSB centre. One officer briefed day 1 testing process and later the test was started. Finally they took 32 out of 105, but due to lack of certificates 3 members are routed back, now we are 29. After completion of certificate verification psychology test was conducted on the same day because the next day is Dr. Ambedkar Jayanthi (i.e., 14 April 2015) holiday for them.

TAT test was quiet good I wrote 12 stories and in WAT I just wrote 54 sentences out of 60. Next a small incident was happened, when the officer is briefing about SRT test without his permission I opened SRT booklet, he noticed me and scolded like anything and also said I noted your chest number and will see how you will get recommended this time. I completely lost hope for few seconds and later without losing any confidence I completed 39 SRT’s. SD is well.Meteorology Branch SSB Experience

Friends here I want to say one thing if any small mistake u did in ssb don’t bother about that move forward with the same confidence don’t lose it.

Next day is holiday till afternoon we all enjoyed by playing TT, caroms, learned few things about IAF in motivation room. In this happy moment when I and 3 of my friends are playing caroms, one officer came for inspection and caught me that I was not wearing chest number at that time, he warned me and went. Afternoon some of us went to CBS had some snacks and came back.

Next day is my GTO. We group of 7 members are waiting in a room for GD task. One officer came and said good morning gentlemen sorry for late, my heart beat was raised by seeing him and he is the same person who warned me yesterday. But still I didn’t lose my confidence.

Now our GD was started,

1. Women harassment in India.

  • Due to education system.
  • Due to Not applying strong laws.
  • Due to lack of parent’s guidance.

2. Secret under Obama visit to India.

  • To make strong defence relations.
  • To make strong nuclear deal.
  • To work with India for fighting with terrorism.

Everyone gave their points, I spoken for 4 times in each GD it went very cool.

Next is GPE, here we got enough time to solve all problems and gave good conclusion for that, next we started outdoor tasks.

In PGT we all completed first two tasks well and in third task the entire group was stuck in middle, the GTO gave a clue and we completed it well, in the last PGT GTO asked how the last person will complete the last. Next is HGT here GTO divided group into 4 and 3 members. I am in 3 members group, we 3 completed the task within a minute. Next is Command Task, here I am the 2nd person called by GTO, he gave a task that there is a bomb in middle and had only one line for start and stop. I completed it quickly and then he started removing obstacles and making it tougher, even though I completed it fastly. Later in my group 5 members asked me for help in their task.

After a small break we all ready for individual obstacles, here I am the first person to do I completed 9 obstacles out of 10. Finally our final group task was completed well. There is no lecturette for my batch.

Next day early morning is my interview. I reported at 8000 hrs. they said my interview will be with the board president, I was waited up to 1200 hrs. Here president was very cool, he already had my performance details of Psych and GTO. It was just 15 mins interview. And the questions were very general like about my family, friends, education, my future plans, my preparation for ssb, few questions from physics, about met branch.

In the afternoon I went to Chamundi temple with my friends. Next day is conference, here they asked common in general questions like any suggestions, how was your stay? . After lunch our results are ready we all waiting in testing hall, DSO came and gave closing address and said in your batch only one got selected and the chest number is………………….  After a long silence he announced it is 16. My eyes was filled with water and I myself said yes this is the movement I waited for 3 years, later for form filling it took 6hrs.

My medicals are at IAM Bengaluru on July 06. Here I got temporary rejection for underweight and gave 1 month I Got Recommended In 6th Attempt For Indian Air Force Meteorology Branchtime. I gained my weight and cleared my medicals…

I got my merit list and I am going to join AFA on 02 Jan 16.

Friend’s one suggestion from me keep an eye on your weight many people get TR in medicals due to under and heavy weights.

Meet NDA Toppers, Call Indian Army Their ‘First Choice’

0
NDA Pune Topper

IT CAME as a sigh of relief for the Indian Army, fearing a shortage of officers, when the toppers of NDA’s 129th batch showed their preference for it over the Navy or the Air Force.

Divisional Cadet Captain (DCC) Rakesh Kadian, Battalion Cadet Captain (BCC) Abhishek Kundalia and Cadet Jitender Kumar who topped in Science, Social Sciences and Computer Science respectively, have chosen Army as their preferred career choice and will be heading to the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun for specialised training.

According to the recent data, the Indian Army in 2015 is falling 18 percent short, with an existing 40,525 working officers, while it can accommodate 49,737 officers. The decision that the toppers of NDA have made is a positive sign, say experts.

Cadet Jitender Kumar, who got Commandant’s Silver Medal for standing first in Computer Science stream with the highest FGPA (Final Grade Point Average) and also bagged the Chief of Naval Staff Trophy for standing first among all the three streams, said that he wishes to join the Military Intelligence after completing his training at the IMA.NDA Pune Topper

Kumar whose origins are in Haryana, first came to Pune after clearing the entrance exam for IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research). However, six months into the course, he came to know that he has cleared the NDA entrance exam, after which he quit the former institute. “I feel proud. I never thought I’d top the class when I came here. But after I stood first in the first term, I realised that it was possible to clinch the trophy. My grandfather and father both served the Army, so it was an obvious choice for me,” said Kumar.

DCC Rakesh Kadian, whose father is a farmer and mother a housewife, says that it was his uncle who inspired him to join the armed forces. Kadian, who hails from Jhajjar district of Haryana, says that the villagers respected his uncle who served the Army a lot. “My parents asked me to appear for the NDA entrance as they wanted me to be like my mamaji (uncle).” Kadian studied in R.E.D Senior Secondary School in Jhajjar, which has given 11 cadets to NDA in the past. “After my selection at the NDA, the rigorous physical activity didn’t bring me down because in Haryana, we’re used to tough physical work. Although communication was a hassle, as years passed by, my language skills improved,” said Kadian, who now speaks fluently in English. Kadian’s choice after training at IMA is Artillary, a branch of Indian Army.

BCC Abhishek Kundalia, who hails from Uttarakhand, comes from a military background. While his father has served the Navy, his uncle was an officer in the Army. Kundalia has set his eyes on the Gorkha Regiment, which he feels suits him the best. “We lived with the Gorkha infantry, and on a field visit, I loved it.” Kundalia hails from Dehradun, where the IMA is based. “There’s just one hill separating my house and the IMA, I’m excited to go back to my hometown,” he said.

40 Cadets Drop Out Of NDA, Unable To Cope With Rigour

2
NDA Pune Training

The severity of military training is known to break the best of men — memorably portrayed in the ’80s film, An Officer and a Gentleman. Closer home, perhaps for the first time in the history of National Defence Academy (NDA), a premier joint training institution of the Indian armed forces and armed forces of friendly foreign countries, as many as 40 cadets have dropped out of the 127th course (spanning the three-year period of 2011- 14), unable to bear the hardship of physical training. Up until now, the average dropout rate has veered between 10 and 15 from each batch.

At the academy, a cadet is allotted to one of the 18 squadrons, which then becomes his home for the next three years. The syllabi encompass science, technology, arts and military subjects. But, the regimen of physical conditioning includes drills, swimming, horse riding, a gamut of games and adventure activities — the hardships defined by the pitch of the training.NDA Pune Training

The shocking numbers bring to the fore the treatment meted out to cadets at the academy. Regarding the present exodus, sources at NDA point to strenuous physical training forced on the cadets on the pretext of making them strong. “During the course of 127 the atmosphere at the academy had become very unhealthy due to the physical strain. As a result of this, most of the cadets failed to adjust themselves here, preferring to quit.”

A few cadets that Mirror spoke to echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the fact that authorities did not give enough room to fit in with the academy’s atmosphere. Hunter squadron’s cadet, Darshan Pawar, who was selected for 127 course of NDA, buckled under excessive physical training. Pawar, who quit the course soon after induction, is now pursuing engineering from a private college in Pune. He said, “I had never experienced such hardships in my life. I joined the academy bit late and my seniors forced extra physical rigour on me so that I could come up to the mark. As a result of this, my hands became swollen, which was casually dismissed by my seniors. I had to give up. But I still wish to join the armed forces and have applied for technical entry now. I hope to make the cut.” Another cadet, Abhishek Mishra, from Bangalore who is presently an engineering student, and who was the cadet from Mike Squadron, simply said, “I left the academy because I was not able to cope with its stringent rules.”

A father of yet another cadet, who did not wish to divulge his identity, said, “The boys come from civilian backgrounds and it is very tough for them to adjust at the early stage of training. The authorities and trainers should give them room and help them cope with the academy’s atmosphere. Forcing a severe schedule on them can never yield positive results. It was my son’s dream to join the armed forces but, he had to give it up midway.”

An officer at the level of a colonel from NDA stood his ground on the academy’s training and said, “We have to equip cadets with mental, moral and physical attributes required to cope with challenges of future battlefields. Over the last two years, several steps have been initiated by the academy to make the atmosphere healthy. Positively, it has delivered the results too. From the present 133 course, for instance, only two cadets have left the academy.”

Col (retd) Vinay Dalvi, who has done extensive research on NDA and also penned Victory India, a book on the selection and training system of the Indian armed forces, told Mirror, “I have probed and analysed the reasons behind the sharp rise in dropouts. I have learnt that Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, then commandant of NDA, did not pay enough attention to the cadets’ issue. During the 127th course, the medical cases were high. Besides, non-structural training, including corporal punishments and ragging, were rampant in the academy. Add to that, the harsh training under the squadron officers and senior cadets, which had also contributed to the number of people opting out of the course.” Dalvi, however said, that today many positive steps are being taken by the authorities in order to create a healthy atmosphere. “Authorities have categorically asked duty officers to sleep at the squadron to avoid any untoward incidents, which is a welcome move,” he said.
