6 Tips To Remember While Responding To SRT

0
Situation-Reaction-Test-SSB

Situation reaction test is a test based on how you perceive a situation and how you act to solve them or tackle them in a fraction of time. It is not a university exam, where you have to fill the sheets to score more. Whatever happens, in SSB is observed in a qualitative way. So you have to drive yourself to the qualitative way rather than quantitative way. Entire SSB depends on your mental ability which governs your recommendation. SRT is a part of psychological testing in which you are given some day-to-day situation and you have to answer them in your way.

Here are some points every SSB aspirant must remember before attempting SRTs.

  • You are not a superman – Be a normal person and reply like a normal man. There are many situations where you will find one on one situation. You can fight there and it will show stamina and strength. But some situations appear when you are facing many opponents. There you have to use your mind and tackle the situation using tricks.
  • These are experience based – You need to have a wide range of experience to handle SRTs. It is impossible to experience an entire world at this age. But you are expected to have basic experience of casual life. Like what you will do when you get stuck in a lift, or how you can improvise when you want an urgent ticket in any train. Day-to-day experience is enough to tackle these SRTs.
  • Try to keep the response short – A candidate gets a set of 60 SRTs. It is up to the candidate’s calibre about how much he attempts. There is nothing right and nothing wrong. What the assessors want is the quality of replies, not the quantity. Candidates sometimes encounter a situation where a count of responses is more. So make the response short and put them in sequence. It is a test of your perception, not any grammar test. So focus on your response rather than grammar.
  • Don’t fabricate or impose response on situations– Most of the aspirants respond in fabricated way and reduces their chance of their recommendation by themselves. Be normal and mention what suits you. A thin candidate mentioning about lifting 50 kg weight is absurd. So don’t write what is not possible. And respond as per your personality and your way of thinking.
  • Stick to the qualities – While answering SRT, you have to commemorate the qualities that the army wants. Like don’t transfer the responsibility given to you, don’t stop your work and find new ways to complete the work or for tackling the situations, show punctuality task and time management etc.
  • Don’t skip any SRT – It is the most important part of the SRT test that whenever you attempt SRT, doesn’t skip any problem in between them. This shows two things, first the block mindedness of the candidates and secondly lack of response in tough situations. So be continues in SRTs. Like every question paper is set as per syllabus, similarly, SRTs are also framed as per the calibre of candidates of specific ages. All problems are answerable, what’s needed is concentration and a bit sequence of responses given.

10 Assault Rifles Used By Indian Armed Forces

10 Assault Rifles Used By Indian Armed Forces

Rifle is the first and last friend of a soldier

A weapon plays a crucial role in a soldier’s life. Weapons have changed their face from the era of ancient history to the current modernised and remotely operated weapons. And a powerful weapon adds more muscles to a soldier. Indian Armed Forces are using many weapons, from big and long range to small and short range for a face to face fight.

First of all, let’s clear the meaning of assault rifles. Assault rifles are the rifles, which hand held and easy to carry and are selective fire modes. Selective firearms are those in which the operator has options of firing as per situation. Like safe mode (where no firing can be done), Semi-automatic mode (where the gun automatically prepares itself for next fire or we can call it as self-loading) and automatic (when a single trigger can fire continuously). The mode is up to the soldier who decides its use as per the circumstances.

Now here we will be discussing the assault rifles used by Indian Armed Forces. Indian Armed Forces consist of three major parts: Army, Navy and Air Force. As most of the part of the ground and face to face fight is done by the Indian army, most of the assault rifles are used by them as compared to the navy and Air Force.Indian Army Rifle

  • INSAS – This is the mostly used assault rifle in Indian Armed Forces and was originated in India. It also has a light machine gun variant. It has its basic design similar to AK M but has some points of difference too. This rifle is being used by Nepal, Bhutan and Oman military. But some issues of jamming, cracking ofthe magazine and semi-automatic mode were scars on it. But its variants have eradicated these drawbacks.INSAS
  • Multi calibre individual weapon system (MCIWS) – It is also an indigenously developed rifle by India which is expected to replace the mostly used INSAS assault rifle. It has got some special feature that deserves appreciation and its induction into the army will improve the fighting skills of soldiers.Multi calibre individual weapon system (MCIWS)
  • AKM – This Assault rifle is used in Indian Armed Forces, which has a basic design as that of AK-47 rifles. AKM is a modernized form of famous AK-47. It has a firing rate of 600 rounds per minute and comes with semi-automatic and fully automatic modes. Named as AvtomatKalashnikova, AK series is automatic rifles that were found a hit among soldiers after its invention.AKM
  • AK103- Apart from AKM, Indian Armed Forces uses AK 103 from AK family. AK 103 is also a variant of AK 47 additionally having side folding stock. It is also used by special forces of Indian Navy i.e. MARCOS.AK103
  • T91 assault rifle – It is a Taiwan made rifle and is used by Special Forces of Indian Army and Garud of Indian air force. The rifle has got firing speed of about 800 rounds per minute. This rifle is based on T86 assault rifle with features of M16 and AR-18 rifles. It has 4 firing modes i.e. safe mode, semi-automatic mode (1 bust), 3 burst mode and fully automatic mode.T91 Assault Rifle
  • M4 Carbine – This US made rifle is in the list of rifles used by Special Forces of Indian Armed Forces. This rifle is a developed version of the M16A2 rifle having short length and light weight. And is used by US forces as a replacement of M16. It also supports mounting of the M203 grenade launcher. It is also appreciated for its capability to support many accessories.M4 carbine
  • IMI Tavor TAR-21 – This rifle is also used by Special Forces of Indian Armed Forces. This Israeli made rifle having selective firing system (semi and fully automatic modes). The rifle’s birth was aimed to build a reliable and durable rifle, which needs low maintenance. This makes it step ahead of carbine rifles.IMI Tavor TAR-21
  • APS amphibian rifle – The APS amphibian/underwater rifle is used by MARCOS by Indian navy. This underwater assault rifle originated in the Soviet Union and has firing speed of 600 rounds per minute. The effective firing range of this rifle decreases with an increase in depth. 1
Indian Air Force Pilots

Indian armed forces are known for the diverse field of operations and their soldiers are trained to attain full accessibility in those terrains. With the hike in youth’s interest in armed forces, it is seen that youth are mostly having their inclination toward flying branch. So here we are flashing light over the height and weight requirement for a pilot in the armed forces.

Firstly, Indian armed forces have the best pilots of the world. Indian army, navy and Air Force release vacancies for pilots for respective areas of functioning. And their training is also special. As they bear the responsibility of multimillion dollar aircraft along with several lives in it, they are expected to be fit, both mentally and physically. An aspirant seeking way to get into the pilot field of Indian Air Force, they need to appear in some physical and mental tests. Some basic physical requirements include eyesight perfection; free from disease and bone or muscle defect height and weight measures and coordination, etc. here we are discussing the height and Wight coordination.

Pattern – For a pilot of Indian Air Force, you don’t need to have specific weight or height to get into this field. The criteria for height and weight are quite good which has a range of height and weight. Medical standards have a chart which describes the height and weight coordination. The height and weight, coordination of an aspirant must meet with the age of the candidate as given in the chart. The chart shows a pattern of increasing weight requirement with increasing height along with the range of age.Indian Air Force Pilots

Pattern for Indian Air Force – The minimum height required for males is going through CDS entry is 162.5 cms and for NDA aspirants it is 152 cms. Normally, ± 10% form average weight is acceptable in the armed forces. The table for Indian Air Force has mentioned the height of candidate in millimetres starting from 1520 mm and ending to 1930 mm. While the maximum and minimum weight mentioned the table is 46 kgs to 82 kgs. And when it comes to the age range, the age has some ranges starting from 15 years and ending at 48 years. But the required age for a pilot is 15-24 years staring from NDA to CDS, NCC entry and AFCAT entry.

While army and navy also have some pilots and these two forces have their separate table for this pattern. There is also a separate chart for women and the army has provided relaxation to the people belonging to north eastern states and Lakshadweep.

Weight-related problem – Height problem is rarely seen in aspirants and weight has become a major problem for aspirant these days. Many aspirants who get recommended while working in private sector faces the problem of either overweight or underweight. Reason being the desk job where you have a computer as your only companion and have to spend 8-9hours with it. Well aspirants who want to reduce weight need to balance their diet and include exercise in their daily routine. While aspirants who want to increase their weight are also required to increase nutritious food along with physical exercise.

Giving SSB interviews is an amazing experience, getting up 4:30 daily, the funny Bra’s (Chest NO’s), the groupism during the GTO tasks, the fun-filled interactions with ustads, we trying to give d gentlemen’s attitude, getting a trailer of the discipline of the defense life, creation of whatsapp group after the SSB & the promises to stay connected. It happens many times that you meet again your long gone friends & acquaintances in SSB’s. Basically SSB is a centre for National integration. A first timer would always mesmerized to see such things. Doesn’t matter if it’s a fresher or a repeater, everyone misses GREENERY in SSB, & boys I hope you know, what Greenery am talking about!!

Both are equally outstanding options, but I personally prefer to go with ARMY, as by doing so I would continue the family tradition & start just where my father left. It feels great to get in his shoes. Plus all my seniors & friends are in the army.

An entire year of the selection process has come an end (NOV14 – DEC15). There were moments of disappointments after getting not recommended for 4 times, but I am grateful to my family & friends for believing in me, constant support & motivating me in the low times, cheering me up again  & again. Everyone has a hero, a role model in their life’s. For me that’s my FATHER: Ex. NAIB SUBEDAR SHAMBHU LAL CHANDRA. THANKYOU DAD for everything, YOU are my HERO.

As Indian armed forces have their own special forces like paramilitary force, GARUD etc. MARCOS is a special force that is maintained by Indian navy to handle emergency situations arising from various means.

Marine Commando Force (MCF). Being a branch of the Indian navy, the force is specialized in amphibious warfare, counter terrorism, unconventional warfare, rescue operation, etc. the force is active since 1987 and currently has nearly 2000 soldiers serving in the organization. They are known for their action in 26/11 Mumbai attacks. It is attached with the Indian army in to operate in northern areas like Kashmir. Not only this, they were also engaged in operation Cactus, Leech, Pawan, Cyclone etc. Their remarkable job was appreciated in many operations. The motto of this force is “The few the fearless”.How To Become A MARCOS-Marine Commando

Recruitment – Heading to the recruitment of MARCOS, all commandos are male and being a naval fragment all its personal. The selection is done at the early age of soldiers, i.e. in the 20s of fresh soldiers to maintain the strength and josh in the force. Well, as per the criteria, the aspirants get a chance to get inducted in the Indian navy through NDA, CDS, SSC etc. and also through direct recruitment for lower posts. The required basic physical strength is high and so is the training process. So aspirants to get into this organization, you need to first become a part of the Indian navy. The selection process consists of two parts. First one is three days long where a soldier’s physical stamina is accessed. The next phase of screening is tougher and then makes the final selection of soldiers for further training. The screening or selection phase rejects more than half applicants on the basis of their physical stamina required for the force.

Training– As far as training is concerned; it takes 2-3 years to train a MARCOS commando. The majority of training of MARCOS takes place over INS Abhimanyu. The training actually takes place at various agencies of Indian navy and the Indian army. They also get training with army’s paramilitary force at Indian special force training school.

So all aspirants planning to become MARCOS are required to become naval soldiers first, and then they will get a chance to get golden chance to join the elite force, MARCOS. Being a part of special force is a matter of honor for a soldier.
