5 Things You Must Know About ASAT Missile Mission Shakti

0
Mission Shakti

Mission ShaktiPrime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation today. In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said “In the journey of every nation there are moments that bring utmost pride and have a historic impact on generations to come. One such moment is today. India has successfully tested the Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile. Congratulations to everyone on the success of Mission Shakti. Mission Shakti was a highly complex one, conducted at extremely high speed with remarkable precision. It shows the remarkable dexterity of India’s outstanding scientists and the success of our space programme.

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today successfully conducted an Anti-Satellite (A-SAT) missile test ‘Mission Shakti’ from the Dr AP J Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. A DRDO-developed Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) Interceptor Missile successfully engaged an Indian orbiting target satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) in a ‘Hit to Kill’ mode. The interceptor missile was a three-stage missile with two solid rocket boosters. Tracking data from range sensors has confirmed that the mission met all its objectives.

The test has demonstrated the Nation’s capability to defend its assets in outer space. It is a vindication of the strength and robust nature of DRDO’s programmes. With this India joins a select group of nations, which have such capability. The test has once again proven the capability of indigenous weapon systems.

Mission Shakti is special for 2 reasons:

  • India is only the 4th country to acquire such a specialised & modern capability.
  • Entire effort is indigenous.

India stands tall as a space power! It will make India stronger, even more secure and will further peace and harmony.”

Shortly after his address to the nation today, Prime Minister spoke to scientists involved with the successful conduct of Mission Shakti, via video conference. The successful conduct of Mission Shakti today, has made India the fourth nation in the world, with the capability to successfully target satellites through an Anti-Satellite Missile.  Congratulating them on their success, the Prime Minister said that the entire nation is proud of our scientists for achieving well, what they had set out to accomplish. He said that in line with the “Make in India” initiative, the scientists have given a message to the world that we are less than no one. The Prime Minister said that India follows the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the world is one family. He however, also emphasized, that the forces which work for peace and goodwill, must remain ever-powerful, for the achievement of peace.

The Prime Minister asserted that for global peace and regional peace, India should be capable and strong. He said that the scientists have contributed to this effort with dedication. He also conveyed the greetings of the entire Union Cabinet to the scientists. The scientists thanked the PM for giving them this opportunity to prove their skills.

Is it Major Poonia Vs Sonia Gandhi? First Time In Indian Political History Sonia Gandhi Might Face A Soldier

0
Maj-Poonia-BJP

Maj-Poonia-BJPAspiring to be in the league of a soldier turned politicians General VK Singh and Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, another man with substance Major Dr Surendra Poonia joins BJP on 23rd March 2019, the day that commemorates the martyrdom of legendary freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. After joining BJP, Major Poonia tweeted and I quote, “Dear Sisters and Brothers, I have joined BJP to serve the nation and our people. It is a great honour for me to support and stand with the idea of “Nation First” against “Family First” from party’s platform which is led by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji.” True to his words and actions like a true soldier is always, Major Poonia has indeed made it clear to the supporters and opponents alike about his inclination and possible course of action for these coming elections. A firm supporter of Modi government policies Major Poonia has shown his solidarity in the past by his various tweets and his reasoning has made many pseudo-liberals wriggle in their armchairs in the Luteyns. With his advent into the electoral politics, people are calling him as #pooniahaipehredaar and we couldn’t agree more.

Major Poonia’s introduction in the politics is not new as he has already contested Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from Sikar constituency on AAP’s ticket. Later, he resigned from the party as he felt not aligned with the party’s line of thoughts and according to him, the party was misled from its basic ethos by none other than Arvind Kejriwal. He was also associated with “India against Corruption’ campaign which was led by Anna Hazare and played a pivot role in awakening the masses by his fierce campaigning. Belonging to the humble origins of a farmer family in village Rajpura of Sikar district in Rajasthan, he carved his way into the prestigious Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Patan and subsequently into the esteemed Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He was the first one from his village to become a doctor and then subsequently an army officer in Parachute Regiment Special Forces, glimpses of which you might have watched in the recent movie URI.

Steel was injected into Major Poonia’s veins when he volunteered for Special Forces and cleared the toughest probation period of 90 days required to earn the coveted Maroon beret. He served in insurgency-ridden Jammu and Kashmir for 5 years as well as in the world’s highest battlefield – Siachen Glacier. In 2005, during a counter-terrorism operation at Bandipore Forest area, J&K, he ferociously saved the lives of 1 officer and 8 soldiers.  All of this happened when they were in midst of a fierce gun-battle which was raging since a few hours and he received the Chief of Army Staff commendation card for his extreme sense of duty in the face of odds. He has also the privilege of serving with distinction in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in DRC (Congo).

It was the year 2008 when Major Poonia was selected for most prestigious and elitist Parachute -Cavalry regiment of India – The President’s Bodyguard (PBG), which serves directly under the Supreme Commander of the Nation. This athlete officer became the first Indian sportsman to win many accolades and medals consecutively in World Medical Games held at Croatia, Las-Palmas (Spain), Antalya (Turkey), with each attempt surpassing his previous performances. From July 2008 to Sept 2012, Major Poonia was one of the core team member involved in implementing ‘Roshni’ – a green innovative concept evolved at the behest of the then President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil. Major Poonia is a rare amalgamation of international medal winning sportsman, decorated army officer, paratrooper, medical professional and fitness expert.

With his 12 years of diverse exposure and experience for excellence, he resigned from the Indian Army to lead Indian sports and social initiative that dreams of narrowing the gap between rural and urban India. Major Poonia is the founder of initiative #Soldierathon which has completed its second edition and raised 19,26, 817 rupees which were presented to the Indian Army’s “Army Battle Casualty Welfare Fund (War Wounded)”. Initially, the idea was conceived by Late Dr A P J Abdul Kalam who didn’t live to see through the day but Major Poonia made it sure that this idea sees the light of the day. #Soldierathon is a special edition marathon instituted to commemorate the Indian Martyrs who have laid down their lives for our country.

He is a motivational speaker and a youth icon in truest sense who has carved out his path by giving his sweat and blood, in the most literal terms and not like a product of dynasty politics. Coming to the context of dynasty politics, it has been the talk of the week that Rahul Gandhi is going to contest election from a safe seat in Kerala, probably Waynad. In 2014 elections, the young actress turned BJP leader Smriti Irani contested election from the Gandhi family stronghold Amethi and gave “Young Rahul” a run for his money and he just narrowly escaped losing by just 1 lakh votes. Though she lost the margins of votes by which Rahul Gandhi used to win in previous elections was dropped drastically and this time the “young leader” is more than fearful to contest elections from Amethi. Since then, it was more and more evident that the duo of PM Modi and Amit Shah was brewing a masterplan to dethrone the dynasts from their strongholds. The word is coming that Major Doctor Surendra Poonia has been picked personally by PM Modi himself to challenge the veteran leader of Congress, Mrs Sonia Gandhi from her stronghold in Rae Bareli.  Major Poonia is sure to bring a fierce battle at the doors of Gandhi family and BJP has made it sure that tremors be felt by them beforehand.

Sonia Gandhi is a sitting MP from Rae Bareli since 2004, winning consecutively for 3 terms and her support as well as winning vote margin increased with time. But could it be that it is the time when the plans to thwart her from winning are finally reaching a conclusion? Just like Rahul Gandhi is losing voter base in Amethi with time, maybe, another fort of Gandhi Family is going to be lost to BJP. The times are changing tremendously and the factors that bind the old generation to a single family or candidate are fading because the youth who have witnessed the development and strong works across the whole nation by BJP government led by PM Modi are not happy with the Gandhi family stalwarts. The youth don’t want to vote merely based on the emotional angle unlike their previous generations, it looks like that finally logic is appealing to Indian masses rather than larger than life portrayal of Gandhi family leaders. Since 2014, Smriti Irani has caught the attention of younger and older generation alike and they are realizing that basic facilities such as sanitation, education, roads, electricity and jobs won’t come to them until new leaders are in the arena. Major Poonia, given his strong credentials, can prove to be a game changer in Indian political scenario as the challenge that he will be set against Sonia Gandhi by his honest and clean soldier image will definitely give a major blow to Lutyens and the Gandhis.

Politics has been diluted to such a level that, youngsters often thought it as a thing which must be not talked or discussed and none should even participate in it. But, they fail to understand that honest men like General VK Singh, Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore and Major Surendra Poonia are needed to step up in the system to ensure that “A few good men” can leave their mark so that others can fill in their place when needed. We don’t want dynastic lads who barely have any idea about the basic functioning of institutions of this nation, let alone having a streamlined vision. The nation and the people are very well aware of the drastic changes happened both in the international as well as on the national front as a result of Modi led BJP government, be it Doklam standoff or the recent surgical and air strikes in the heart of Pakistan. India is among world’s top 5 economies and the world’s eyes are onto us and this didn’t happen overnight, strong political leadership by PM Modi made it sure that India’s roar is well heard. Gone are the days when we used to hear about new scams in every week and bomb blasts were the norms in the nook and corner of the country. Modi government has certainly raised our expectations as well as the general standard and now the citizens have started to think beyond the basic necessities. The nation is not expecting anything less from PM Modi as he has shown again and again about his seriousness for the security of the nation as India is redrawing its strategy as an offensive defence.

A soldier like Major Poonia understands that the security of the nation is the first and foremost priority and political tussle should be kept away from it. Alas! The young stalwart of Gandhi family doesn’t believe so and that’s why so many hue and cries about a non-existent issue such as Rafale deal. With changing numbers of money in his successive speeches, it is evident that Young Master is not only eligible but has mastered the art of lies and deception. He also miserably failed to evoke public emotions by giving a failed and rhetoric slogan “Chowkidaar Chor Hai”, they very well know that Chowkidaar has scared the dynasty as well as thieves.

Believe me when I say that, Congress exactly does what PM Modi led them to do and this time they have handed a well-executed campaign in the hands of BJP. #Mainbhichowkidaar movement has gripped the nation like a viral fever and is giving nightmares to the corrupt Gandhi family who is currently on bail. It is the love of the people who are tagging Major Poonia on twitter countless times to show their solidarity with him in the form of #pooniahaipehredar slogan. Clean politics and honest politician won’t be a standard until we decide to give them a chance and this battle of electoral politics is all about #chorbanaamchowkidaar. Thieves, corrupts and scoundrels have long been in the parliament but the filtration which was started by PM Modi in 2014 will need the support of younger and older generation alike. It is high time that we should join Major Surendra Poonia because #pooniaispehredaar and this fight is  #chorVSchowkidaar.

From Indian Armed Forced to University of Michigan

Indian Coast GuardI did my schooling from Air Force School Yelahanka, Bangalore. I grew up in the Air Force atmosphere was blazing during my school days. From being the House Captain to lead sports team, I excelled in everything. Secured 9.2 CGPA and completed 10th in 2010. I always had the passion to join the Indian Armed Forces and I was pretty confident that I will make it to the prestigious academies someday. After that life took a horrible turn when in 11th standard when I failed in the final exams. This was a setback for me since it ruined my dreams of joining the NDA. I had to repeat 11th standard again. Then I did my 1st and 2nd PU from Seshadripuram PU College Yelahanka. Thing started changing. I completed NCC ‘C’ Certificate with ‘A’ Grade from 1 KAR AIR SQN NCC at Jakkur, Bangalore. NCC gave me a strong foundation and motivation to join the forces. I did aero modelling, flying, 0.22 rifle shooting and also attended All India Trekking Camp at Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand.  There I visited the Indian Military Academy and I was stunned. My motivation level was high and it became my life.

But soon I found out that I was not eligible for NDA or TES entries since I completed my 12th at the age of 19. I could not even fill the application form. This shattered me and I spent countless nights crying. Then I did my B.E in Mechanical Engineering from Sir MVIT. For the first 2 years, I was not that active or orientated towards my career. But in 3rd year, I was chosen by my Principal to do research in the field of Vehicle Dynamics at Vignanodai R&D Labs. This opportunity was given to only handful students in the college. I wasn’t aware where my life was going to take me.

Soon I started to excel in the automotive research field. I wrote 9 Research papers, completed internships at BMW, Indian Railways and Cell Propulsion, Presented my research at FISITA World Automotive Congress 2016 Busan, South Korea, SAE 13th International Conference on Automotive Engineering 2017 Bangkok, Thailand etc. I started moving towards the automotive field. But then came the time when I wrote CDS without any preparation and I cleared it for IMA and OTA. Got a call from Bhopal SSB but I didn’t attend since I was really overweight as I spent my nights working on research projects and had absolutely no physical fitness.

But later I appeared for Indian Coast Guard (Pilot Entry) PSB and FSB. I was recommended in my first attempt. I was around 104 kgs at that time. Appeared before the Medical board at AFCME Delhi and I was given a temporary rejection for Overweight. All I had to do was to just reduce weight and join the Indian Coast Guard. But then at that time I was 24 years old and I had lost the mind set to join the forces. Automotive Industry excites me more as I did a lot of innovations like In-Wheel Suspension, Foot Resting Mechanism, Variable Pitch Helical Baffle Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger etc. Then I moved on and applied for MS in US, Netherlands and Australia. I got admit from University of Michigan which is rank 6th in the World for Engineering. Right now I am doing my MS in Automotive Systems Engineering at University of Michigan. But I still want to do something for INDIA.

Desh Bhakt sirf FAUJ me nai hote. Har Indian ke andar apne desh k liye kuch karne ka junoon hai. Main bhi India ke liye kuch karna chata hu, FAUJ nai to kuch aur hi sahi.” I hope I do something revolutionary in the automotive field and scale Indian Automotive Sector on a Global Level.

7 Ways To Appear More Attractive In GTO Group

0
7 WAYS TO APPEAR MORE ATTRACTIVE IN GTO GROUP

The wild horses of every aspirant’s mind start running as soon as the word GTO comes in their mind. Many of us have been there and have quite an idea regarding the GTO tasks while several longs to be there and are quite perplexed when it comes to handling the GTO tasks. The repeaters have an edge in this regard but at the same time, the expectations are high from them. While the freshers do their part by looking into books and videos for the interview and the psychology but rarely the tension and pressure can be felt anywhere else except the GTO ground. Interview and psychology are individual based tasks and they don’t need working in a group. But your performance in the GTO depends a lot on various factors such as the first and initial impression on your group as well as on GT officer.

It is mandatory to be in the good books of your brethren with whom you are going to share the two days of the gruelling GTO. To positively influence your group members and to look sharp in front of GT officer, it is necessary to appear attractive in certain terms which will enhance your performance and will boost your confidence. A leader attracts the awe of his followers by his action and ideas. In the same way during the GTO tasks for you to be a leader among your group members, you will have to create followers.

These points will give you a line of action to follow to shine brightly in your group during GTO tasks:

  1. Maintain the perfect dress code:

You will receive the dress code for the GTO tasks in your call letter and maintaining dress code is a thing that is not taken lightly in the armed forces. Many a candidate reaches on the grounds with not proper attire and instructed dress code and thus faces the wrath of the GTO in one way or the other. Being a gentleman candidate, dress accurately. But, at the same time also look after for your comfort as you don’t want yourself to feel uncomfortable in many ways while performing tasks. If you are going to be an officer then dress like an officer. There is a saying that, “Dress to impress” and it fits everywhere where you want to leave an impact of your personality.

spot_img
  1. Speak less but say more:

A candidate, who speaks more, cuts other people while they are speaking and listens very less is always undesirable in any group. The members of a group always respect a person who speaks quality matter at critical junctures of the discussion and listens to the views of other members too. Try to put yourself into others’ shoes and think from their perspective too for you may catch a thing or two. Remember, we are there to have a healthy group discussion and not to prove people wrong. It isn’t a test of your knowledge as such and rather how do you conduct yourself in the group. A good team member contributes and derives quality from a group and that’s what makes it attractive for others to follow.

  1. Convince your ideas to the group and make them happen:

During the group tasks, say PGT, you have an idea in your mind but to make it happen you need to properly project it to other team members, convincing them is almost winning the battle. This proper projection by you should be such that they receive it in its original form. Speaking with clarity and speaking in an effective manner will bring appreciation from your group members and will mark your strong presence in the group for the GT officer. Communication skills are into the game at this juncture. If you want to lead your group then you will have to be clear in your words as well as in your actions.

  1. Be quick and be fast in your approach:

Analytical ability with proper reasoning and logical intent will make your group understand that this candidate means serious business. Also, to counter his arguments they will have to bring something over the top and much more logical. Such actions create a drastic impression of your personality on the GT officer. For example, during GPE group discussion when others are stuck in prioritizing the problems or are messing up with the time and distance factors, at this time you should step up and show them alternate ways of solving the problems. Be quick in evaluating the distances on the model and depict the accurate time factor at places. This will prompt the group members to seek your solution as the group solution. In other words, it is a stamp on your analytical ability which will definitely leave your mark in the group.

  1. Learn your basics and learn to apply them as well:

We learn about the basic principles of physics in our school but rarely we apply them in our daily life. That’s where most of us get stuck during our course in the PGT, HGT, FGT and CT. Having a basic idea about the functioning of the fulcrum and the cantilever, off the paper and with plank, rope and balli, will give you an edge over the others when ideas are rare in successive stages. We all know who we call in CT as we always expect some unwarranted help from those who are swift with the material. When others are at their saturation point of giving ideas to solve a task, be the first one to respond. This will get you appreciation from the group who is stuck at a certain point and will establish the fact that this candidate has his basics together.

  1. Be the helping hand, be the support in the group:

When the GOR is in full swing, nobody wants to remain behind but a few of us are slow and that’s where quick performances of a few agile ones come handy. Being at the peak of your physical fitness will help you in not only crossing all of the obstacles without any injury but also without breaking any rules. It will give you a chance to extend a helping hand for the group members who are a little bit slow. Who doesn’t appreciate a helping hand? That’s what team bonding is like and this is sure well looked by the assessors and your team members.

  1. Know your knots:

We can place balli and plank at certain angles but what use a bridge is without being tied properly. The knowledge of knots will make your actions quick and even without an idea at times; you can be very visible in the front solely by your skills.

Armed forces work in a group to reach a common goal to achieve something bigger than them. SSB is just a manifestation of the big life in the armed forces ahead and one can get success in it by following these hard and fast rules.  Being attractive in a GTO group is not all about appearance rather it is based on how you conduct yourself in the group to earn their respect. Remember, if you have earned the respect of your group then it automatically paves your path to handle GTO tasks with ease.

Recommended To Join Indian Army As An Officer AIR-1 SSC Tech Entry

ssb interview recommended air1
ssb interview recommended air1

I am Ipupu Mena, and I belong from Lower Dibang valley a beautiful place in Arunachal Pradesh. I secured AIR 1 for SSC TECH entry civil engineering course 23 in my third attempt. I don’t belong to a defence background, in fact I didn’t even have any idea about SSB and how to join the armed forces, till I went for my first SSB. My first attempt was in 2016 for UES Navy entry, and I got Conferenced out. I gave up for a while after my first attempt, as I couldn’t understand where I lacked. Then finally after 2 years, I made up my mind to join the armed forces no matter what, I took it as a challenge, I wanted to prove myself. I didn’t join any coaching classes, I started preparing sincerely and diligently for SSB on my own, watched numerous YouTube videos and read a number of blogs on SSBCrack. In September 2018, I went for my Navy SSB, and I got conferenced out again. After my second attempt, I got a very clear picture of the area where I had to improve myself. In my third attempt which was the first time for army Tech entry in November 2018 at south selection centre Bangalore. I was confident since the very first day that I would get recommended. Getting screen in has always been easy for me. I attempted all the questions in the OIR tests, made a good story in PPDT, which was unique from the whole group. My Narration was good, GD was a fish market, I spoke less but kept my point whenever I got the chance, and ultimately, I went with the story of the whole group.

Psych test went pretty well, in TAT I wrote stories that were naturally coming to me. I wrote all the 60 WAT test and all the 60 SRT. For SD I had prepared and practiced very well before my SSB. My GTO too went quite well, cooperated very nicely with my whole team. GD and GPE went fine, but our solution wasn’t up to the mark in GPE. I Wasn’t able to give much idea in PGT, but I did very good in HGT. Helped and motivated my team to win the Snake race, this task was the best. In lecturette I got the topic ‘Make in India’, I explained what it was, spoke about its Pros and cons and kept my views on how to make it a successful one. In Individual obstacle, we were given 8 tasks. I performed all the 8 tasks and repeated 3 more. I  repeated those tasks which were easier to perform with the aim to gain higher points, I chose Commando, Monkey jump, and Tarzan. For my command task, GTO Sir called the GTO Ma’am of the other group as well. I was asked to do all the three options. I completed well in time. Both of the GTOs were satisfied with my performance.

My personal interview was on the 3rd day after GTO, I quickly changed and got ready in my formals, then I went for my interview with full confidence. My interview went very well, I answered most of the rapid-fire questions. Whatever he asked I answered it and when cross-questioning was done, I justified it all very nicely. I accepted my past mistakes when I was answering him, told him what I did to change myself and rectify my mistakes. Though there were times where he didn’t agree with my views, I stood for myself, I didn’t change my words and gave my logical reasons why. He asked me some current affairs, tech and math questions too.

On the conference day, I was so chill because I knew how my performance went and was 100% sure of getting recommended. Then as predicted my chest no. 14 was called.

And here am now, got recommended for Indian army with AIR 1, will soon be joining OTA Chennai.

Some tips that I would like to share from my experience to all the aspirants is that

  1. If you want to bring changes in yourself start with your thought process first, then execute them in all the small things that you do.
