Personality And SSB Interview

Personality And SSB Interview

Personality. This word is so very common in our vocabulary. Whenever we talk about an individual, we often end up discussing the personality traits of the person and his/her ‘aura’.
To begin with, personality is defined as permanent and relatively stable patterns of thoughts, behaviour and emotions. In simplest of terms, personality of a person is the sum of qualities that form an individual’s distinctive character.
No two people can have the exact same personality. We all are unique and we all differ from one another in some qualities. Certain traits are common to us all, like anger, hunger, happiness, etc. Yet there are some traits that become the single defining feature of our personality or us.

It’s no surprise that personality plays a vital role in the SSB. In the 5 day long procedure, the personality i.e. the behaviour, the emotions, the thought processes of the candidates are assessed and checked whether they have the ability to mould themselves and to work as per the norms and requirements of the Armed Forces.
At the initial screening stage, the psychological tests all elicit our personality type and traits and it helps the assessors to make an accurate decision about the candidate.  The Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), the Word Association Test (WAT), the Situation Reaction Test (SRT) and the Self-Description Test (SDT) give a holistic view of a candidate’s personality to the assessor. The basic idea of having the psychological tests in the initial screening stage is to separate those candidates whose mental framework matches with the requirements of the Armed Forces better than those whose do not.Personality And SSB Interview
Therefore, In order to succeed in the SSB, one needs to be aware of their personality type and traits and how those can be used as an advantage to excel in the SSB.
Having talked about the relevance and significance of a candidate’s personality in the SSB, I’m mentioning a few ways in which you can get to know yourself better and work on your personality to achieve or dreams!

  1. First of all, you need to introspect. I’ve mentioned this in quite a few of my articles but believe me that introspection leads to so much insight that’ll help you tremendously in life. Everybody, from time to time, needs to spend time thinking about themselves, their strengths, weaknesses, etc. It’s impossible for a human to know everything about themselves without introspecting. So cultivate this habit. Take out 10 minutes every day and try to bring your thoughts, behaviour and feelings in sync. It’ll help you in a great way to know yourself better and when you know yourself better you know what areas you need to work on.
  2. Talk to others. There are areas of our lives that we ourselves are unaware of yet it is visible to others. It’s called the Johari Window and it has great implications in Psychology. We all indulge in some behaviours and actions about which we aren’t aware but they are visible to others. To get a holistic understanding of self, one needs information from all sources. So asking others and getting their point of view about oneself can help a person know himself/herself better.
  3. Understand the requirement that the Armed Forces have out of the candidates. The Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) can be taken as example to understand what the Armed Forces is looking for in the candidates. Be clear that your personality cannot change overnight. You are unique and you cannot be someone else. But you can work with what you have. There are qualities that can be learned and inculcated. Not everything has to or can be inborn.Whenever you’ve read “Do you have it in you?” what exactly came to your mind? The qualities mostly. The Officer Like Qualities to be more precise. These qualities in turn define the personality of an individual. So know your personality type and traits better to excel in the SSB!

6 Tips To Perform Better In Group Planning Exercise

0
Group Planning Exercise

GTO, the days which are fixed for physical tasks to access the actions of the candidates. The tasks here also depends on the performance of the mind linked with the body. When the GTO day starts the first task faced by a group discussion and the second task is GPE i.e. group progressive exercise. The second task is a mixture of planning, discussion and resource management. This task sometimes causes problems to candidates during discussion and during the personal planning process. Here also some tips and tricks works here to ease the candidates in facing and performing better in the task.

oir test and ppdt
  1. Listen and read the plan carefully – The description and the printed instructions give the correct idea and hints to solve the problem. When the officer is reading out and describing the scene, concentrate over the map and make a virtual environment and it will become easy for you to make a suitable plan, read that plan, and classify the resources, problems, helping material, and the priority of problems.
  2. Basic Social Knowledge – Some problems in the GPE need social knowledge, considerably deep knowledge to solve the problem. This knowledge helps you to prioritize the problem and the usage of some resources on the correct way. Lack of social knowledge can lead to weaker solutions or ineffective solutions. Social knowledge helps in identifying the hidden resources in the map and plan.
  3. Correct Priority makes the Point – The problems given in the GPE need to classify correctly on the basis of the correct response on correct timing. The basic formula of classifying is to give first priority to the life second to the material damages and red herring is just to distract you. Giving much hype to red herring is time wastage. When judging the priority in problems having life problems, then firstly handle the situation that needs immediate action and secondly to that which has some time to happen.
  4. Perfect use of Resources – The plan has many resources to use, from human force to the passing by vehicles. What’s necessary is to use them in a perfect way that fulfills the need of the actions? Using resources in a judicious way takes you out of the problems or can take you into more such problems. Even villages, towns, and buildings are also a center of resources.
  5. Patterned way to write the Response – The style of writing, your solution also matters to some extent. Designing or adding grammatical content never supports your recommendation. The thing that matters is the quality of content, perfect way of writing, solving problems from starting to end, cutting less and comprehensive solution is always advised.
  6. Discussion Need Practice – While discussing the final plan, make a calm discussion over prioritization, which needs to be done fast as it is not a major point of chaos. The thing that needs to be discussed is the correct plan to solve the problems. Keep the discussion calm and effective. This skill of discussion in the group has to be learned from day-to-day group discussions in local areas.

7 Things To Know About Prithvi-II Missile

0
Prithvi-II Missile

Hello, Warriors. India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed nuclear capable Prithvi-II missile on 18th Feb 2016. The missile test was carried out from a mobile launcher from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha at 1210 hrs.

Download eBooks:

  1. Strategic Forces Command personnel test-fired the nuclear-weapons-capable Prithvi-II missile for a range of 250 km as against its full strike range of 350 km.
  2. The missile regiment unit of the Command picked up a missile randomly from the production lot and launched it from a road mobile launcher around 9.15 a.m. for regular user training.
  3. The surface-to-surface Prithvi-II missile is capable of carrying 500 kg to 1,000 kg of warheads.
  4. It uses advanced inertial guidance system with maneuvering trajectory to hit its target.
  5. The Prithvi-II could not be intercepted because of this “maneuvering trajectory capability”.
  6. The surface-to-surface missile is 9 meter-tall, single-stage liquid fueled and is thrusted by liquid propulsion twine engines.
  7. Prithvi-II, the first missile to be developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme of the DRDO, was inducted into the Command in 2003. It is now a proven technology.Prithvi-II Missile

The achievements of DRDO from this test launch are:

  • The “copybook flight” met the mission objectives. A hybrid GPS-INS (inertial navigation system) improved accuracy.
  • Two indigenously developed radar transponders for S and C bands were test-flown in the missile and validated. They could be used for bigger missiles.
  • The transponders would communicate via radar the position of the missile and help track it.
  • Radars and electro-optical tracking and telemetry systems along the coast monitored the trajectory and other parameters of the missile in real time.

Such training launches clearly indicate India’s operational readiness to meet any eventuality and also establish the reliability of this deterrent component of the country’s strategic arsenal.

Capt. Tushar Mahajan

Hello Warriors. Another Army officer has been killed in the ongoing encounter in Kashmir’s Pampore, taking the number of lives lost in the encounter so far to six.

Earlier, Army Captain Pawan Kumar, another soldier and two personnel of the Central Industrial security forces had been killed.

Captain Tushar Mahajan, 26, was hit by a volley of bullets while mop-up operations were being conducted at the third floor of the house the terrorists have been holed up in since yesterday.

Download:

The encounter has been on for more than 20 hours now. Three to five terrorists are still holed up in the complex.

It all started on Saturday, when the terrorists had attacked a Central Reserve Police Force convoy along the Srinagar-Jammu highway. They had killed two CRPF men and a gardener and then sneaked into a nearby building – Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute – in Pampore.Capt. Tushar Mahajan

Around 20 people including government employees who were trapped inside the main building of the complex were evacuated. Around 90 others were taken to safety from nearby buildings including a hostel.

The Army personnel, whose elite 15 Corps headquarters is located barely 10 km from the encounter site, were rushed in to assist the local police and the CRPF.

Capt Tushar Mahajan hailed from Udhampur and went to the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasala. He later volunteered to join the elite 10th Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army.

The sacrifice is what adorned the proud chests of the slain officers which they had earned after six gruelling months of probation and special skill training and they truly embodied its spirit. The badge signifies committing yourself in form and spirit to the cause of the nation. The final call came at Pampore and as it was ingrained in them, they did not think twice before going into a hail of bullets.

May their souls rest in peace.

The Indian Army asked the people of Haryana to extend their support “in giving a befitting farewell” to late Captain Kumar, who belonged to the Jind district. The mortal remains of the officer will be flown to Jind on Monday as road transportation has been disrupted by the ongoing Jat quota protest in Haryana, the army said. Captain Tushar Mahajan

Captain Tushar Mahajan from the elite Para unit also lost his life in the encounter.

“One militant has been killed. Three army and two 2 CRPF personnel lost their lives in the operation,” CRPF spokesperson Bhavesh Kumar said on Sunday evening. “Heavy exchange of fire is continuing and security forces are trying to neutralise the militants,” he added.

“An officer of 10 Paras, Pawan Kumar attained martyrdom, leading his men from the front in a tricky operation as terrorists are hiding in a government building, with the possibility of some more civilians being trapped not ruled out,” a Srinagar-based spokesperson said.

Thirteen CRPF men were injured in the attack and the subsequent gunfight.

The militants, numbering two to four, fired guns and lobbed grenades early on Sunday as security forces tried to storm the government building. As an intense gunbattle raged between security forces and the militants, a portion of the five-story government building caught fire.

The standoff started on Saturday when the militants fired automatic rifles as they ambushed a convoy of paramilitary soldiers before taking refuge in the nearby government building. Those evacuated said the militants allowed more than 100 civilian government employees to leave the building without any harm.

Anti-India protests and clashes broke out on Sunday in several neighbourhoods in Pampore, where the militants are holed up.

Witnesses and officials said hundreds of youth, chanting “Go India, go back” and “We want freedom,” ignored the appeals from police to stay away from the site of the gun battle and hurled rocks at police and paramilitary soldiers.

Government troops fired tear gas and pellet guns to disperse the protesters. At least three protesters were hospitalised with wounds from pellet guns, police said.

Capt. Pawan Kumar: A Jat, JNU Degree Holder and A Soldier

0
Captain Pawan Kumar

Captain Pawan Kumar, 22, who died fighting terrorists on Sunday in Pampore in Kashmir valley is an elite Para commando. Incidentally, he belongs to two constituencies that are out on the streets agitating. He is a Jat from Jind district in Haryana and a degree holder from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi.

He is one of the four security personnel killed in the operations at Pampore where terrorists are holed up in a government building. “He was killed as he was leading his men. The operation was tricky as possibility of some civilians being trapped in was not ruled out,” one officer said.

On hearing about his son’s death, Capt. Kumar’s father Rajbir Singh’s first reaction was, “I had one child, I gave him to the Army, to the nation. No father can be prouder.”

Capt. Kumar’s death and his father’s comments could not be any starker to the developments in his home state Haryana, which is burning due to agitation by the Jat community demanding reservation and as JNU in Delhi boils with debates of anti-nationalism.

Download:

“He was destined to be in the Army as he was born on Army Day,” he added.

According to Army officials, he had taken part in two successful operations earlier in which three terrorists were killed — including the operation on February 15 in Pulwama in which one terrorist and two civilians were killed.

Capt. Kumar was born on January 15, 1993, observed as the Army Day, graduated from the 123 course of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Army on December 14, 2013. He was with the 10 Para Special Forces and in service for less than three years.Captain Pawan Kumar

Incidentally as the situation unfolded in Haryana on Friday, the civilian administration quickly requisitioned the Army. It should be noted that India has one of the largest Central Armed Police Forces and Para Military Forces but once again — reinforcing a growing trend — the army became the primary responder.

“Pawan Kumar was a young and a dynamic officer, He was a true commander”, Lt. Gen. S.K. Dua, General Officer Commanding of Udhampur based 15 Corps said after paying respects to his mortal remains.

Officials added that the mortal remains of Capt. Kumar will be transported by air to Jind on Monday for last rites.

The encounter in Pampore began on Saturday after terrorists entered the seven storey building of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) where 2-3 terrorists are still believed to be held up.
