Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa PVSM AVSM YSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff was the Reviewing Officer today for the Passing Out Parade of 136thCourse at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. A total of 291 cadets graduated from the Academy as they passed through the portals of the prestigious Khetrapal Parade Ground. This included 218 Army cadets, 34 Navy cadets and 39 Air Force cadets. 15 cadets from the friendly foreign countries namely Afghanistan, Bhutan, Tajikistan, Maldives, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Papua New Guinea also passed out from the academy.
Chief of Air the Staff reviewed the parade and addressed the Passing out Course cadets wherein he complimented the cadets for their exceptional drill movements and impeccable turn out. He congratulated the parents and cadets of the Passing out Course. He also mentioned the pride he felt in reviewing the Parade and made a special mention of the award winners.
‘Kilo’ Squadron bagged the prestigious ‘Chiefs of Staff Banner’, for being the Champion Squadron which was presented during the parade.
Hello friends, I am Sunil Kumar got recommended for IMA from 11 SSB, Allahabad. I have done my schooling from Army School, Ahmednagar and my school has given more than 100 officers to Central Armed Forces over the years and now proudly I am one of them. I am an average student in academics and scored 76% in 10th and took PCM in 11th and scored 70% in my 12th boards. I was interested in computers and did BCA and scored 68% in my graduation and was also part of NCC of 17 Maharashtra Battalion. I mentioned my grades just to inform you that your past doesn’t write your success but your present will, what you are doing now with your life will set your career. Hurdles will come, sometimes you have to taste failures but keep on hustling till you grab it with honour. Be honest to yourself and every time keep in mind why and when you started this journey. So let’s go straightway to the SSB experience. It was a bright sunny day of winters on 9 Jan 19 in Allahabad and our reporting was at 1400. I reached 2 hours before the reporting time and all the candidates gathered near MCO office. Selection centre bus came and we all start loading our luggage into it but this time my bag was lighter than before(repeaters know the reason) and we reached the centre. All the documents were checked and we were allotted accommodation and my Chest Number was 65.
Next day early morning we all reported to Vikram Batra hall for the stage 1 test. My OIR went amazing, I couldn’t complete my story in writing and while narration I started well with confidence but I was not allowed to complete my story and the assessor said next (She might have understood the theme) and then the main test of screening GD started, I initiated second in discussion in group of 20 Candidates and gave 2-3 points in the whole GD but we were able to come to a common story and group nominated me for the final story narration. We waited for the result and 25 candidates cleared the stage 1 test and I was allotted Chest Number 16, first one in the repeater group.
On second day or the psychology day I completed all the 12 stories, 60 WATs and 32 SRTs and I wrote a balanced Self Description including all aspects like strengths, weaknesses, things that I should work on etc.
On the third day or GTO 1 early morning reporting in winters and our batch reached the ground by running to feel fresh for the tests. In both the GDs I initiated the discussion and gave my points freely, valid points and my group was very cooperative and nobody made a fish market which I have experienced earlier. In GPE, I completed my solution in writing within the stipulated time, GD went well and I was nominated by the group for the final group plan narration. In PGT, HGT, FGT and CT I actively participated and gave my logical solutions for crossing the obstacles given to us and also helped my group members in their ideas in order to complete the given tasks in given time. I did 13 individual obstacles and was in the middle of the group in GOR or Snake Race and emphasised on no penalties. My lecturette topics were 1. India: Super Power? 2. Niti Ayog 3. Sports policies of India, I chose India: Superpower? And was able to cover my views in 3 minutes comfortably.

My interview was on the GTO 2 day and I was informed to report immediately in GTO dress to the interviewing officer. I entered the room, wished the IO who was Deputy President of the board and he offered me to shake hands. He asked me to just relax and can have water in between the interview whenever I feel like. He made me feel comfortable and said that for the next 45 mins I would like to know you more and interview went fantastic as compared to the last SSB for the next one hour and I was satisfied with my performance in last 4 days.
The judgement day or the Conference day, we all reported in time, well dressed. one by one chest numbers were appearing on the screen in red colour and after 15 it took a pause of around 15-20 mins and Ustaad standing near me said “Beta aap select ho gye ho bsh andar kuch galti maat krna” and I entered with full confidence and answered all the questions asked and came out with a smile after 5-10 mins.
Time for the result, we waited for 2 hours and I have felt this pressure before. most of us were already in dreams on their chairs and the officer came with the result. He gave a motivational speech and was able to see the eager to hear the result on everyone’s face sitting in the hall. He is the louder voice said are you ready for the result? Yes sir And Chest Number 16 was his first word after a silence of our Yess sir… That feeling cannot be described in words.
I thanked every member present there for their cooperation and delivered a motivational success speech which I have prepared last night for the post selection and everybody was on toes with applause and it was the best day of my life. The only dream which you saw from your childhood and hustling every second to grab it will surely come to you at the end of the day. I want to thank you all from bottom of my heart Sunny, Mayank sir, Vishal Thakur, Puspender Singh, Deepanshu, GC Anil Solanki, GC Rahul Sharma, Sandeep, Aman, Mehpara and everyone who was the part of this journey.
After medicals at MH, Allahabad and BH, Delhi I was declared medically fit and stand AIR – 26 in merit. Age Limit:
Candidate born between 19 July 1999 and 01 July 2003 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply.
In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment is 21 years.
Educational Qualification:
Group ‘X’ (Except Education Instructor Trade).
Passed Intermediate/10+2/Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR
Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering in any stream, as mentioned in the drop down menu of apply online section under candidate’s login on the CASB web portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in. The candidate should have completed the course from a Government recognized Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma (or in Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).
Group ‘Y’ {Except Automobile Technician, GTI, IAF (P), IAF(S) and Musician} Trades. Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
Group ‘Y’ Medical Assistant Trade Only. Passed 10+2/Intermediate/ equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
Examination Fee: Examination fee of Rs.250/- is to be paid by the candidate while registering for the online examination. The payment can be made by using Debit Cards/ Credit Cards/Internet Banking through the payment gateway. The examination fee can also be paid by Challan payment at any Axis Bank Branch.
Indian Army has published the TGC 129 merit list for the course which is going to commence on July 2019 at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. Candidates who have not submitted copies of all semester mark sheets and Degree/ Provisional degree certificate and other required documents are required to submit the same. Joining Letters (JLs) will be issued as per MERIT subject to Vacancy, Medical fitness, requisite Educational qualification and meeting all eligibility criteria. There are a total of 57 candidates who cleared the TGC 129 SSB interview for various branches.
In the run-up to the 8 June 2019 slated Spring term passing out parade, IMA Ball took place at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The IMA Ball is a precursor to the final event – The Passing Out Parade of the IMA, which is slated on 8 June 2019. The highlight of the evening was the selection of Mr IMA and Miss IMA. Anushka Chauhan was adjudged as Miss IMA and Gentleman Cadet Armaanjit Dhaliwal was declared as Mr IMA. The evening of joy, merriment and nostalgia commenced with the Commandant IMA, Lt Gen SK Jha, who set the ball rolling. The Gentleman Cadets in evening military attire and the ladies in their dazzling best graced the gala event.
The IMA Ball is held towards the end of each term to mark the culmination of the rigorous training schedule of the passing out course. The event is associated with fun and frolic is also termed as the ‘Break Up Party’ for the Third Termers.
In a spectacular Passing out Parade (POP) held at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, on Saturday, 25th May 2019, 264 trainees comprising Midshipmen andcadets of Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and ten international cadets passed out with flying colours, marking the culmination of their ab-initio training. The passing out Midshipmen and cadets belong to four different courses of Spring Term 2019, viz., 96th Indian Naval Academy Course (B.Tech), 96th Indian Naval Academy Course (M.Sc), 27th Naval Orientation Course (Extended), 28th Naval Orientation Course (Regular) and 28th Naval Orientation Course (Coast Guard). The parade also saw 15 female cadets marching shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts to join the ranks of the Indian Navy. The ten trainees from various friendly foreign countries include two trainees each from Maldives, Myanmar and Seychelles, one trainee from Tanzania and three trainees from Sri Lanka. The passing out batch of Sri Lanka trainees have the distinction to be the first batch of foreign trainees to complete the four years B.Tech curriculum from INA, ever since its institution.
The parade was reviewed by General Bipin Rawat, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC,Chief of the Army Staff, who awarded medals to eight meritorious Midshipmen and cadets after the ceremonial review. Vice Admiral RB Pandit, AVSM, Commandant, INA, Dr Anurag Kumar, Director, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, senior officers of the station and other outstation dignitaries witnessed the momentous occasion.
The Passing out Parade was also witnessed by the proud parents and guardians of all Midshipmen and cadets. The ‘President’s Gold Medal’ for the Indian Naval Academy B.Tech course was awarded to Midshipman Killamsetty Vikash. The ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal’ for the Naval Orientation Course (Extended) was awarded to Cadet Siddharth Sankar. The ‘Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal’ for the Naval Orientation (Regular) Course and the ‘Zamorin Trophy’ for the best women cadet (instituted for the first time) was awarded to Cadet Kreeshma R. The other medal winners are as follows:-

The glittering ceremony culminated with the successful trainees forming up in two columns and marching with their gleaming swords and rifles held in salute, past the Academy’s Saluting Dias, the Quarterdeck, in Slow March, to the traditional notes of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, the poignant farewell tune played by Armed Forces around the world when bidding adieu to colleagues and comrades. Passing out courses were bid farewell by a batch of three MiG 29-K fighter aircraft in Vic formation led by Cdr Viaksh Narwal, NM from Indian Naval Air Squadron 303 who carried out a low fly past over the quarterdeck welcoming the new officers to the Navy and joined the celebrations with a bomb burst manoeuvre.
On completion of the parade, the proud parents and guardians of the Passing Out courses shipped the Naval and Coast Guard epaulettes, known as ‘Stripes’, on the shoulders of their wards, thus symbolising their transformation from ‘cadets’ into full-fledged Navy and Coast Guard Officers. The Reviewing Officer and other dignitaries shipped the stripes of the medal winners and congratulated all the trainees for their successful completion of the rigorous training. On completion of the training at the Indian Naval Academy, these officers will proceed to various Naval and Coast Guard ships and establishments to further consolidate their training in specialised fields.

Type of Commission:
PC for Men: Candidates joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank.
SSC for Men & Women: (i) The engagement period for Flying Branch SSC officers is fourteen years from the date of Commissioning (Non extendable). (ii) The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty (Tech and Non-Tech) branches would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.
Age:
Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as on 01 July 2020 i.e. born between 02 July 1996 to 01 July 2000 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 July 1994 to 01 July 2000 (both dates inclusive).
Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years as on 01 July 2020 i.e. born between 02 July 1994 to 01 Jul 2000 (both dates inclusive).
AFCAT 2 2019 Notification: Detailed notification is available on website https:// careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in. Candidates are to ensure that they have read and understood the details available in the notification before registering.
Training: Training will commence in the first week of July 2020 for all courses at Air Force Academy Dundigal (Hyderabad). The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (NonTechnical) Branches is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments. PAN Card and account in SBI/ Nationalised Bank is mandatory at the time of joining Air Force Academy. Aadhaar Card is mandatory for registration.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
Eligible candidates are to register online through separate tabs available for AFCAT Entry/NCC Special Entry/Meteorology Entry. Candidates eligible for one/ more entries are to register separately in each entry.
Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearm (from inside of elbow to the wrist) and on the reverse side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body are not acceptable. Tribes with tattoo marks on the face or body as per their existing customs and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis.
Use/possession of narcotics is banned. Candidate may be tested for presence of drugs in the body during Medicals and subsequently during training/ service career as an officer. If candidate is found to be using/ in possession of narcotics during any time of training/service career, candidate would be debarred from joining the Indian Air Force or be removed from service if already joined.
Online testing will be conducted for AFCAT entry at various centers. Candidates registering for AFCAT entry will have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- as examination fee. However, candidates registering for NCC Special entry are not required to pay. Details of conduct, examination centers and mode of payment are available in the notification.
Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course. Widows/Widowers and divorcees (with or without encumbrances) below 25 years of age are also not eligible.

In a major victory to the Armed Forces, Zakir Musa, Kashmir’s top terrorist has been killed in an encounter. A gun fight broke out between terrorists and security forces at Dadsara village in Tral at South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Thursday. Sources said that the cordon had been laid following inputs about the presence of Musa, the head of the Ansar Ghazwatul Hind chief. He was persuaded to surrender, but he is said to have retaliated and fired back at the forces. A joint team of the Army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF cordoned off the area. Internet services have been snapped. Schools and colleges will remain closed as a precautionary measure tomorrow.
