Farmer’s Son Raj Kumar Secured UPSC CDS 2 2021 AIR-1 For Indian Air Force In 1st Attempt

0
cds-2-2021-air-1-AFA

It was my first attempt at CDS Exam. And I have secured AIR 1 for the Airforce and AIR 2 for the Navy and Army. I got recommended from 5 AFSB Guhawati. As to my feeling  I am relieved and happy that I could fulfill my duty towards school. It was long coming. Before this, I had attempted NDA Exam thrice but could not get through SSB Interview at any time.

spot_img

I belong to Ajgarwa a small village in the East Champaran district of Bihar. My father is a farmer and my mother is a school teacher. My education from class 1 started in a boarding school since I was a nasty child to handle also village was not conducive to education at that point of time as mummy tells. I hated my hostels. would often fail in exams.

Was called dumb witted. I wanted a way out to prepare for the Sainik school entrance exam. And I did prepare really hard and that’s the only time I have consciously prepared for something. And I got admitted to Sainik school Nalanda.

Prepare for the CDS Exam 2023:

Everyone in the village thought I have already made it (haha). Schooling was great. And my English was poor. Friends and teacher suggested I read. And I fell in love with reading. I have read around 500 books. I was more of an academic-oriented person till the 10th. except for hockey goalkeeping, I had nothing to show for extracurriculars and sports.

I was a good writer though I wrote scripts for others I seldom participated in debates or declamation myself. I was never a captain in school.

UPSC CDS 2 2021 AIR 1 For Indian Air Force

On 11th and 12th however, I took certain small responsibilities and opened up a bit. But when orientation for ssb happened in 12th I became acutely aware of my weaknesses.

Hereupon I suggest young NDA aspirants if u feel you are introverted and a little shy rather than stressing much on your communication take up a challenge something that to you appears impossible sort if it involves leading a team even better. And get it done successfully.

It will increase your self-worth. you will start valuing yourself. And soon enough you won’t need success to fuel your self-worth. So on the expected line, I was rejected the first time. And then I  got just 80% marks in 12th.

This is a common folly of the majority of Sainik school students they tend to have made a self-image of unnecessary grandeur. And as they fail to meet their own inflated expectations they are so broken that they take up anything they find first.

To them I suggest keep interacting with people outside, know you are not so special, also that competition outside may be tough yet you will be able to hold your ground.

Fortunately that year(2018) I got enough marks in jee mains to get admission in nit Patna in civil engineering. The failures in board and ssb had brought me face to face with reality. And being among these talented people at college did fill me with humility. I was changed.

My outlook became relaxed, I was happy and blissful. I participated in different things. In school, I didn’t participate in many things because I was afraid to lose. Here I approached everything with an attitude to learn and explore.

I was part of different clubs, organised different activities, and fests, directed plays, and short films, debated, quizzed, wrote stories and poetries, played football, and most importantly interacted with everyone in college. I know almost everyone in my batch across streams with his unique talents.

UPSC CDS 2 2021 AIR 1 For Indian Air Force 3

Also after getting screened out the second and third time I had stopped thinking about defence and ssb altogether. I had accepted my rejections in good stride. It was like I am good and SSB is fine. we are simply not meant to be together.

Though sometimes I got dreams of my batchmate and schools and will get up with the feeling  Is there no homecoming(defence) for me? Yet I was good to go the next day.

Corona happened next. Went home to the village. First time I stayed in the village for 1 year continuously since childhood. Played lots of cricket, understood the politics of the village and read NCERT. It was also a moment of growth. Papa became my best friend.

spot_img

Then in the 2nd year of the corona, I went to Motihari and stayed with my grandfather and grandmother. There I did nothing but studied and played cricket. Prepared for college placements, learned to code and read novels. Brushed up my mathematical aptitude(Arun Sharma).

English was always good. For CDS Exam I just gave a couple of last year’s question sets. I was easily clearing the cutoff.

For SSB this time my brother also had his for NDA. I was more oriented to guide him than preparing for myself. Also, I was in continuous touch with col. Mukteshwar sir who along with commodore Azad sir had given us ssb orientation classes the first time.

I wrote just one set of psych before going for ssb. Stories were more related to things I have done me or my friends have done or I have thought of doing me.

For interviews sometimes my brother would take of mine and other times I of his. CQIs are available on the internet.

20 days before going I started reading the Hindu regularly. Also brushed up the world affairs. And honed service knowledge from Wikipedia. During interviews, I was honest about my failings, learnings and follow up to improve.

UPSC CDS 2 2021 AIR 1 For Indian Air Force 2

I feel io already knows almost everything about you through your PIQs. There is no use rationalizing your past mistakes. You are not expected to have been perfect at every point in time. However, also don’t forget to demonstrate how having recognised your weakness you have attempted to improve by your own initiative.

Keep the conversation light and interesting. For PGT there are some very useful videos on youtube. One can get an idea. As to group discussions I was sure I will get at least 1 chance which I should grab to do well. Never speak for the sake of it. Speak to add value to the discussion.

for GTO I would like to suggest doing the task for getting it done’s sake. Aim for completion than your own performance. Don’t take unnecessary stress if some of your ideas fall flat on your face. Whatever has to happen will happen you simply get yourself involved and forget if there is GTO.

If the idea is not coming give yourself some time and remain supportive and constructive throughout. It does not mean standing by a foolish idea.

In general, don’t prepare much for SSB specifically. Rather try to understand yourself and whatever happens have a cheerful outlook.

Remember many of the things you will achieve in life is due to luck, and a Few you will miss out due to lack of it. But your happiness and that blissfulness should remain intact.

All About Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya:

Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya is a premier Pre-Commission Training Academy (PCTA) of the Indian Army, established in the erstwhile location of Army Service Corps (ASC) Centre (North). Gaya Military Station, in the pre-independence days, had a historical distinction of being the Operation Centre of Sir Archibald Wavell, Commander-in-Chief of British India Army who steered the initial operations of the Burma Campaign from here. He later became the penultimate Viceroy of India.

The motto of the Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya – ‘Shaurya, Gyan, Sankalp’

A Gentleman Cadet on joining OTA, Gaya, undergoes Basic Military Training aimed at overall development into a tough soldier and innovative intellectual. The Gentleman Cadets undergo rigorous military training for a period of one year at OTA, Gaya. A continuous, quantified, structured and systemic training is imparted and Gentleman Cadets are assessed in major discipline such as officer qualities, service subjects, physical training, drill, academics. They also undertake mutual assessment.

spot_img

OTA Gaya, set up in 2011, is located amid an estate of approximately 870 acres in the hilly terrain of Paharpur at Gaya. The academy is located en route from Gaya to Bodhgaya, approx 7 km from Gaya railway station. The international airport of Gaya is adjacent to the academy. In its vicinity is Bodhgaya, an international tourism destination. Gaya Cantonment dates back to World War II, as one of the headquarters of the British Army.

To mark the commencement of the academy, a flag hoisting ceremony was solemnised and the consecration of the raising of the academy was carried out in true secular tradition of the Indian Army, with recital of scriptures from holy books of different religions.

The academy has been equipped with state of the art training facilities, at par with other pre-commissioning training institutions.

The insignia of Officers Training Academy, Gaya has a two-colour background, with upper half as grey and the lower half blood-red, having two cross swords superimposed with the Dharmchakra.

The first batch of 149 trainee-officers underwent training in the academy during the period July 2011 to Jun 2012 and the first passing out parade was conducted on 8 June 2012. The second batch after successful completion of their training (January 2012 – December 2012) passed out on 8 December 2012. A total of 176 cadets from TES 26 and SCO 29 courses passed out on 8 December 2012. The academy had capacity to train 350 cadets. How To Crack SSB Interview Screening Test

On the first day of your SSB, Candidates have to clear the stage 1 testing so as to proceed to the next stage. Stage 1 of SSB contains two tests namely OIR which is the officer’s intelligence rating and secondly PPDT which is a picture perception and discussion test.

The OIR test in the SSB contains verbal and non-verbal questions and generally, candidates are given time around 25-30 mins to solve each.

spot_img

In PPDT, the candidate shown a picture and after perceiving the picture for 30 seconds the candidates have to write a story around the picture within 4 mins and once they are completed with writing the picture, they are taken to a discussion hall where a candidate firstly narrate his/her story and once the narration of the last candidate is finished the group discussion is started. On the basis of the performance of a candidate, they are selected for the second stage that is they are screened in.

For the best results and to get screened in prepare from SSBCrackExams OIR and SSB Interview Online Course to get an idea of original questions. Practice sample questions daily to improve your speed.

Below Are The Top 5 Tips To Crack SSB Screening Test:

1. Practice the OIR test series and improve your verbal and non-verbal reasoning. Do check out the OIR test sets, booklet, and video lectures from SSBCrackExams, and you can also attend daily live classes and get the peer to peer guidance from the recommended tutors.

2. Write a logical and feasible story. Your story should revolve around the picture only and don’t bring a character from outside the picture. If there is no character, then only you should bring an extra character.

3. Keep the time in mind and increase and writing speed. Try to complete your story within the time limit and in good handwriting.

oir test book ad

4. Narration is crucial. This is the only part where you have been given the chance to speak freely and convey your ideas. If you were not able to complete your story writing, this is your shot. Complete the story of yours with full confidence and without stammering.

5. Try to at least give 2-3 valid points in the GD. You will experience a fish market over there and you’ll not get the chance to speak, but you are there to become an officer, crave out the chance for yourself. Be loud and clear while discussing so that the accessors are able to hear you.

What Is Pehla Kadam and Antim Pag In The Indian Army?

0

We all have seen many cadets passing out from their academies after the successful completion of their training. You might have noticed a memorial tablet plastered on the ground and cadets crossing it, where it’s written PEHLA KADAM. After Gentlemen and lady cadets pass over the ANTIM PAG they officially become an officer in the Indian armed forces. Also, cadets do not become an officer until they cross the Antim Pag.

What is Pehla Kadam?

PEHLA KADAM as the name Suggest is the first step toward the new and adventurous life of an Army Officer in the Indian Army. This was formally replaced by our ex COAS General M.M Naravane by ANTIM PAG.

PEHLA KADAM Before 2021, there used to be ‘ANTIM PAG’ or the last step, after the parade which symbolises the completion of their training.

As COAS addressed in his speech, this “PEHLA KADAM” shows that the journey is not over, but it has started for the young officer and this first step will give him the confidence to deal with the forthcoming challenges.

After the training, crossing PEHLA KADAM or the First step symbolises the beginning of a new life for an officer. All those adventures and thrills are waiting for them which they will have to face with bravery and true comradeship.

SSB Interview GTO Tasks Colour And General Rules

0
gto task rules

Group Testing is based on the theory of gestalt. In GT the GTO looks at the candidates performing in a group, then gradually singles them out and gives a closer look and finally once again observes them perform in the group.

There is a total of 9 tasks conducted by the GTO. These are divided into three distinct phases as described below.

Basic Series

There are 4 tasks namely Group Discusssion, Group Planning Exercise, Progressive Group Task and the Group Obstacle Race. All these tasks are group tasks and performance in these is very important. In this series the group goes through three stages of development.

spot_img

Confirmatory Series

The confirmatory Series comprises of four tasks/activities namely Half group task, Lecturette, Individual Obstacles and the Command Task. Of this normally the IO and CT are done on the second GTO testing day. In this series the GTO resolves his queries on each candidate by focusing more intensely on individuals as most of these tasks are individual in nature.

Final Series

This series consists of only one task namely Final Group Task. This is basically for the GTO to give a final look at the candidates performing in group before winding up the test series.

What is seen through these activities?

1. Your ability to grasp the rules and conditions of tackling the obstacles.

2. Are you logical in your approach?

3. Do you have practical work sense?

4. Are you able to use the resources appropriately?

5. Are you able to contribute to the group functioning?

6. Are you able to co-operate and work as a team member?

7. Are you able to communicate your ideas in a way that others understand it?

8. Your overall General Knowledge

9. Are you able to overcome frustration and difficulties faced during the task?

spot_img

Most of the tasks in the GTO series are almost same. Keeping aside individual task in the GT, PGT, HGT, FGT have the same rules and are to be followed by the candidates.

  • Group Rule – This rule implies that all the members of the group must have crossed an obstacle before anyone can go to the next one. Since the approach is narrow and candidates can move one by one there will be some who will cross first and the others wi follow. Therefore make sure that even if you are the first to cross the obstacle wait for all the candidates to cross before you move on to the next.
  • Distance Rule – This rule implies that any distance that is more than four feet must be bridged and not jumped. For example if you find the distance between the start line and the first structure is roughly 5 feet, even if you are capable of jumping that distance, you are not permitted to do that. You are expected to bridge the distance by using the helping material. Do not violate this rule as it will mean that you lack grasp.
  • Colour Rule – This rule implies that the structures placed in the out of bound area, if it is painted white, it is inbound for candidates, the helping material and the load; which means it can be touched by all three. If it is painted red, it is out bound for all three: which means it cannot be touched by the candidates, the helping material and the load; and if it painted blue, it is inbound for the candidates but out of bound for the helping material and the load. Which means it can be touched by the candidates but cannot be touched by the helping material and the load. Note that the candidate can hold the load/helping material while standing on a blue coloured structure. The only condition is that the load/helping material should not touch the blue colour. Remember, violation of this rule can either mean that you lack grasp or may mean that you are casual. Both these conclusions are bad for you. Hence do not break this rule.
  • Rule of Rigidity  – This rule implies that no two rigid helping materials can be tied together for making an extension. Since rigid helping materials are normally the planks and ballis, this rule means that you cannot tie plank and balli together. However, you can keep one on top of the other and also you can tie the rigid helping material to the structure. Violation of this rule will indicate lack of grasp or casualness.
  • Rule of Infinity This rule implies that the start line and the finish line should be imagined to be extending to infinity on either side. This means that you cannot walk through the sides of the task and have to tackle the obstacle head on. Also, be careful that you do not step into the area inside of the start line even if it is to the right of where the start/finish line finishes.

How to approach PGT/HGT/FGT.  Keep the following points in mind.

  • Be a constructive member of the group.
  • Try and lead the group.
  • In case someone has taken the lead, support him by providing ideas.
  • Wait till all the members have crossed and be helpful wherever required.
  • Once a path has been chosen, do not divert the group to another approach. All paths will be almost the same difficulty level.
  • Be a team person and do not show off.
  • Do not keeping looking at the GTO.
  • Do not shout at others or throw the helping material.
