Indian youth to serve in the Armed Forces. The scheme is called AGNIPATH and the youth selected under this scheme will be known as Agniveers. AGNIPATH allows patriotic and motivated youth to serve in the Armed Forces for a period of four years.

The AGNIPATH Scheme has been designed to enable a youthful profile of the Armed Forces. It will provide an opportunity to the youth who may be keen to don the uniform by attracting young talent from the society who are more in tune with contemporary technological trends and plough back skilled, disciplined and motivated manpower into the society. As for the Armed Forces, it will enhance the youthful profile of the Armed Forces and provide a fresh lease of ‘Josh’ and ‘Jazba’ whilst at the same time bring about a transformational shift towards a more tech savvy Armed Forces – which is indeed the need of the hour. It is envisaged that average age profile of Indian
Armed forces would come down by about 4-5 years by implementation of this scheme.

The national stands to immensely benefit by infusion of highly inspired youth with deeper understanding of self-discipline, diligence and focus who would be adequately skilled and will be able to contribute in other sectors. The dividends of a short military service to the nation, society and the youth of the nation are immense. This includes inculcation of patriotism, team work, enhancement of physical fitness, ingrained loyalty for the country and availability of trained personnel to boost national security in times of external threats, internal threats and natural disasters.

This is a major defence policy reform introduced by the Government to usher in a new era in the Human Resource policy of the three Services. The policy, which comes into immediate effect, will hereafter govern the enrolment for the three services.

Benefits to the Agniveers

Agniveers will be given an attractive customised monthly package along with Risk and Hardship allowances as applicable in the three services. On completion of the engagement period of four years, Agniveers will be paid one time ‘Seva Nidhi’ package which shall comprise their contribution including accrued interest thereon and matching contribution from the Government equal to the accumulated amount of their contribution including interest as indicated below:

Post this stint of four years, the Agniveers will be infused into the civil society where they can contribute immensely towards the nation building process. The skills gained by each Agniveer will be recognised in a certificate to form part of his unique resume. Agniveers, on completion of the four year tenure in the prime of their youth, will be mature and self-disciplined with the realization to become better version of himself/herself both professionally as also personally. The avenues and opportunities that will open up for their progress in the civil world after Agniveer tenure would certainly be a big plus towards nation building. Moreover, the Seva Nidhi of approximately Rs 11.71 lakhs would aid the Agniveer to pursue his/her future dreams without the financial pressure, which is normally the case for young people from the financially deprived strata of society.

The individuals, selected for enrolment in the Armed Forces as regular cadre, would be required to serve for a further engagement period of minimum 15 years and would be governed by the existing terms and conditions of service of Junior Commissioned Officers/Other Ranks in Indian Army and their equivalent in Indian Navy and Indian Air Force and that of Non Combatant enrolled in the Indian Air Force, as amended from time to time.

The scheme will lead to much more youthful and technically adept war fighting force by ensuring a fine balance between youthful and experienced personnel in the Armed Forces.

A Jammu man beat paralysis to realise his dream of joining the Indian Army. Here’s his story. Lt. Baba Danish Langer (21), of Jammu, had always dreamt of joining the Army. But a paralytic attack in 2017, triggered by Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) — that is caused by viral or bacterial infection and is treated mainly by blood transfusions — almost buried his hopes. However, he was not the one to give up. On Saturday, among the many young cadets hooting and throwing their hats in the air as they graduated from the Indian Military Academy was Langer. He was an officer now.

Around 288 cadets graduated from the Indian Military Academy in Uttarakhand on Saturday, and one among them was this braveheart from Jammu, who beat paralysis to realise his Indian Army dream. Baba Danish Langer suffered a paralytic attack in 2017 triggered by Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS). But he overcame the odds.

“I am proud of my son. It’s admirable how he handled adversity at such a young age. Many people give up and consider other options, but in his mind, the only option was the Indian Army,” Rajesh Langer (59), father of Lt Baba Danish, told India Today.

Anju Langer, Lt Baba Danish Langer’s mother, said, “Since childhood, he had wanted to join the army and serve his country.”

“When Danish was in class 6, his grandmother refused to let him attend sainik school, but he has now fulfilled his dreams and made us all proud,” she added. When asked about his journey, Lt Danish said that medical science, discipline, and sticking to a routine all aided him. “With the help of God, elders, friends, mentors, and the Indian Army, I was able to fulfil my dreams,” he added.

Lt Danish, who overcame GBS-induced paralysis in six months, also encouraged aspirants to never give up on their dreams. “I urge all young people to give their all and never give up. Don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way of achieving the life goals you’ve set for yourself,” said Lt Danish.

GBS, the condition that Lt Danish suffered, is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the nerves and can affect a person’s motor functioning for up to a year. It is usually treated with immunotherapy like plasma exchange.

Several of Langer’s batchmates said they salute his courage. One of them said, “Many in his place would have given up and blamed it all on fate. But Danish was always clear that he would someday don the uniform of an Indian Army officer. All of us are very happy for him.”

5 Qualities of a Gentleman Cadet Every One Should Have

0
5 QUALITIES OF A GENTLEMAN CADET

I would like to share a few points which are establishing OLQ-Officer Like Qualities within us. Let me share this with your friends. The below said things are so common for all of the individuals in our society so nothing to worry about this. Though we dream to become a gentleman, I feel, we should follow these changes if needed to become finer and finest 🙂

spot_img

1) Avoid third-party way of speech.
Eg. Expressing a negative thought of self as said by someone or towards an organization.
This can be avoided by giving things with a smiling face. This establishes social adjustment of us. Through this we can win people day by day, our thoughts and speech are given much importance in the group. Though if any of the individuals approach you with negative or blaming speech, avoid the same with a smiling face. It doesn’t mean that we don’t have the capability to give a solution for that, we are lions to give the solution at the right place and at the right time. keep this in mind guys.

2) Taking the responsibility for the group if any mistake is done by others and giving the credit to the group even though it is done by the self.
This is one of the perfect leadership qualities. i.e standing in front of the group if issues arise and giving the group in front if credits arise.

spot_img

3) Doing constructive things (hobbies) in free time. This sharps our minds and gives us innovative ideas in our regular professional life. Through this, we don’t have free time to sit idle and think. If we keep ourselves busy with multiple constructive works, our mind automatically starts to think positively. So no time to think negative 🙂

4) Doing more self-analysis and maintaining a chart to read our graph. In life, everything is a measurement, so reading ourselves and mapping our performance is a superior act. This gives self-improvement. Since, if we are able to analyse the self, then at a threshold level we can able to analyse the group.

5) We are the best, so no comparison with others. We are the best soul for ourselves and we should not compare ourselves to others. In fact, no competition for you guys, since you are the best in the world. Just do self-analysis and improve your skills. This way of approach improves us day by day and also reduces our competitive mindset. The same is required in the armed forces as there is no competition while working in a group only group dynamics are expected.
