Can Army Officers Become RAW Agents

The Research and Analytical Wing (RAW) is the foreign intelligence agency of India.

The agency’s primary function is gathering foreign intelligence, counter-terrorism, counter-proliferation, advising Indian policymakers, and advancing India’s foreign strategic interests.

RAW was founded on 21st September 1968 and is headquartered in New Delhi.

There is no recruitment process done for the RAW. All recruitments are done secretly.

In order to be selected for the RAW Agency through the armed forces, one must ensure that they are physically and mentally fit all the time.

Can Army Officers become RAW Agents?

The answer is yes.

If you show potential at the military academy, you may get spotted by the RAW Agency recruiters. Once you come under the radar of the recruiters, they keep close tabs on you. If selected, rigorous training is carried out in the fields of combat, military tactics, languages, common techniques, information security, scientific knowledge, etc.

para sf covert operations

If not through the armed forces, candidates who attempt the UPSC Exam are also recruited. Candidates are also recruited directly from college or university.

In case of the armed forces, once you become an A-grade Officer in the Army, Air Force or Navy, you can get recruited to become a RAW Agent. Generally, an A-grade Officer from the Indian Armed Forces, Intelligence Agency, Police Service, and Administrative Services, etc., has a higher chance of getting recruited.

Doing extraordinary work, being an active soldier and having relevant and extra skills will get you noticed by the RAW Agency.

Knowing multiple languages, combat skills, critical thinking, decision making, etc., increases your chances of being recruited.

Even an individual who excels in a particular field of science, arts, data analytics, etc., may be recruited by the RAW Agency.

There is very little information about the recruitment process of the agency as everything is done with utmost secrecy.

Candidates who are recruited have to keep it a secret.

Individuals are recruited from the armed forces as well as from colleges and universities. If the agency deems you fit, the recruiters will put you through a series of tests to evaluate your competence.

If found physically and mentally fit, you will be asked the join the agency.

As seen above, anyone from an Army Officer to a serving soldier to an undergraduate student can be recruited by the RAW.

The process of recruitment still remains a mystery which is how the RAW Agency has managed to remain one of the greatest undercover agencies in the world.

All About Future Infantry Soldier As A System (F-INSAS)

Future Infantry Soldier As A System

On August 16, 2022, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh presented the Indian Army with systems and equipment that were built domestically. Future Infantry Soldier as a System (F-INSAS), the next-generation anti-personnel mine “Nipun,” a tough and autonomous communication system with improved capabilities, modified tank sights, and cutting-edge thermal imagers are a few of them.

Raksha Mantri essentially handed over modern, high-mobility infantry protected vehicles and assault boats, enabling the troops stationed along the border to appropriately respond to any challenge. In accordance with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to modernise the Armed Forces under the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan,” the equipment/systems have been jointly developed by the Indian Army in partnership with Defense Public Sector Undertakings, Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), and the Industry.

spot_img

Shri Rajnath Singh showed confidence in the equipment and systems’ ability to improve the operational readiness and effectiveness of the Indian Army. In collaboration with the business sector and other institutions, he said, it is a bright illustration of the nation’s increasing capacity for self-reliance. According to the Raksha Mantri, as times change constantly, the Armed Forces’ infrastructure needs grow. He urged infrastructure development based on cutting-edge technology to aid the Armed Forces in staying ready to face new challenges. He urged the armed forces to continue their commitment to nation building and strive for greatness.

Future Infantry Soldier As A System

Future Infantry Soldier F INSAS

Future Infantry Soldier is being equipped with three primary sub systems. The first sub system is the modern state of art assault rifle along with day and night holographic and reflex sights. The sights are mounted on the weapon and also on helmet to enable a 360-degree visibility and accuracy in operational conditions. In addition to the primary weapon system, the soldiers will also be kitted with multi-mode hand grenade which has also been procured indigenously along with multi-purpose knife.

The second sub system is protection system. This gives protection through a specially designed helmet and a bullet proof jacket. The third sub system consists of communication and surveillance system. This F-INSAS system is capable of further upgradation by incorporating real time data connectivity.

Anti-Personnel Mine ‘Nipun’

Anti Personnel mine %E2%80%98Nipun

For a long time, the Indian Army has been using vintage NMM 14 mines. With the efforts of Armament Research and Development Establishment, Pune and the Indian industry, a new Indian mine named ‘Nipun’ has been developed. It will enhance the protection provided to the troops on the borders. The mine is more potent and effective than the existing anti-personnel mine.

Downlink Equipment With Recording Facility

This downlink equipment helps the helicopters in carrying out constant reconnaissance and surveillance of the borders and operational areas. While on missions, reconnaissance data observed is recorded in the system and can be accessed only when the helicopter returns to the base. Indian Army had exchanges that provided line communications to the operationally deployed units. However, there were limitations in terms of numbers of subscribers and quantum of data that could be communicated. Also, the equipment could not work with latest internet protocol technology. A new system has been developed by the Bharat Electronics Limited, Kotdwar, which overcomes all inadequacies of the older system.

Upgraded Radio Relay (Frequency Hopping)

Upgraded Radio Relay Frequency Hopping

In challenging forward areas, where no lines or other forms of communication are available, Indian Army has to extend its communication system. With this radio relay system, forward troops are in a position to operate their communication equipment and radio sets at much longer ranges and in greater depths than hither-to-fore. This is an advanced system with frequency hopping technology and very high capacity. It has been developed by Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru.

Solar Photovoltaic Energy Project

One of the most challenging terrain and operational sectors of the country is the Siachen Glacier. The complete power requirement in the area to operate various equipment was met only through captive generator supply. A solar photo-voltaic plant has been installed to improve the overall energy requirements and also obviate dependence on fossil fuels. This plant at Partapur was virtually dedicated to the Nation by the Raksha Mantri.

Landing Craft Assault (LCA)

Meet Harshit Sharma CDS 2 2021 Topper OTA AIR-7

Finally, UPSC-CDS 2021 AIR 7. It sounds like a dream. But yes, dreams do come true. This journey of persistence to join the DEFENCE FORCES started way back in 2019.

I always had a dream to become an officer since school but was not sure which field I will be landing in. Used to look at the statue of Second Lt. Shashindra Singh Rana VrC at a square near my house and asked my dad one day that father who is he…and then he explained that he belonged to our town and was a brave Gorkha warrior who immortalized himself in the Akhnoor sector in the 1965 war and was posthumously awarded VIR Chakra… This incident became one among many reasons to join the defence forces.

coming from a non defence family background where no one in the family has ever been an officer and from a small town like Ashoknagar in Madhya Pradesh where the awareness and exposure towards the defence is near negligible  and where only person before me to serve the Indian Army as an officer was second Lt. Shashindra singh Rana Vrc is itself an honour for me

Its been a journey of setbacks, failures, comeback, grit, determination hard work, resilience, and consistency

And after 3 years, having cleared 6 CDS and 4 AFCAT exams and ultimately after 8 shots given at SSBs, I am finally here

I owe this success to my family, who believed in my dream and constantly pushed me to never lose hope and keep up with the hard work.

To all the teachers and mentors who shaped me into the man, I am today.

To all the friends who have been the source of immutable support to  me

I promise to serve the country with honor, determination, and courage and will keep the heads of those who believe in me consistently high.

Thank You

Real Life Terminator: Flight Lieutenant D Ravindra Rao Who Saved a Fellow Pilot from a Crashed Jaguar

0
Flight Lieutenant D Ravindra Rao

Flight Lieutenant D Ravindra Rao (35147) Flying (Pilot) is on posted strength of a Fighter Squadron.

On 06 Nov 21, Flt Lt D Ravindra Rao was ferrying a Jaguar fighter aircraft to another base as part of a detachment. After landing, while carrying out post flight inspection of his aircraft, he heard a loud explosion and saw another Jaguar aircraft crashing and skidding off the runway.

He, while still kitted up with his full flying clothing, sprinted towards the crash site and found the crashed aircraft inverted with a part of canopy broken, both engines still running and the pilot bleeding and hanging from the ejection seat straps. By this time, one Crash Fire Tender (CFT) had already reached the crash site and was dousing the crashed aircraft to extinguish flames.

In the meantime, the second CFT also reached the accident site and was actively directed by Flight Lieutenant D Ravindra Rao to throw extinguishing foam at the correct place. He established that the engines were still running and the pilot’s ejection seat was live, which posed a grave risk of fire and explosion.

Moreover, the pilot was not able to escape from the inverted aircraft. Without wasting any time and thinking of any danger to his life, Flt Lt D Ravindra Rao crawled into the inverted cockpit, operated the crash gang bar and attempted to operate engine throttles to stop position.

Meanwhile, the water sprayed on the engines became hot and started pouring on him and the pilot inside the cockpit. The extensive CO2 foam sprayed by the CFT made it difficult to breathe in that confined space; but he, undeterred by all dangers, continued the rescue operation. He had to reach for the stuck & inverted pilot’s legs and remove leg-restrainers and open part of g-suit to free the semi-conscious individual.

He helped to extricate the pilot from aircraft, helped the medical team to remove the pilot’s flying clothing, assisted them to provide first aid and strap the pilot on to the crash stretcher.

Flt Lt D Ravindra Rao showed exceptional courage and gallantry in face of a direct threat to his life. He went far beyond the normal call of duty, personally involved himself in the rescue of the semi-conscious pilot and assisted & guided the rescue crew in effectively completing the rescue operation.

For this act of exceptional courage, Flight Lieutenant D Ravindra Rao is awarded Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry).
