Women Officers of Territorial Army
The inclusion of women in the Territorial Army began in 2019, with the commissioning of Women Officers in Ecological Task Force Units, TA Oil sector units, and TA Railway Engineer Regiment. Drawing from the experience gained during this period, it has been decided to further extend employment opportunities for women officers in the Territorial Army.
The Territorial Army follows a Citizen Soldiers’ army concept, where officers receive annual training in basic military skills while maintaining civilian employment.

ALH Dhruv Helicopters Grounded For Second Time In 2023

The clash, which has been unfolding in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, since Friday evening, has been designated as Operation Trinetra by the security forces. While two terrorists have been eliminated, five soldiers lost their lives due to an improvised explosive device (IED) detonation. The army has received intelligence indicating that terrorists may be hiding in the extensive Kandi forests of Rajouri, prompting them to conduct a meticulous search operation under the banner of Operation Trinetra.

Operation Trinetra: Indian Army Launches Counter Ops Against Terrorists in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir
In a visible display of intensified efforts, an army helicopter has been observed hovering over the area. Notable figures, including DGP Dilbag Singh of Jammu & Kashmir and ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, are present at the scene. The Northern Command of the Army released a statement affirming that their troops are engaged in intelligence-based operations to eliminate the group of terrorists responsible for attacking an army convoy in the Tota Gali area of Bhata Dhuriyan in the Jammu region last month. Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in the Kandi woodland of the Rajouri region, the joint operation commenced on May 3.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has arrived in Jammu and is set to visit the Army Base Camp in Rajouri. During his visit, he will interact with the soldiers and lay out plans for the subsequent phases of the operation.

Additionally, a member of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed in a separate encounter in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.

Two twin brothers, Ajay Singh Gill and Arjun Singh Gill, have made history by undergoing pre-commission training together at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai. While Ajay has graduated as a Lieutenant, bagging the top honours on becoming an officer on Saturday, Arjun will pass out six months later.
The brothers hail from Pathankot in Punjab, where they grew up facing numerous challenges. However, their unwavering determination and hard work have propelled them to achieve their dream of serving the nation as officers in the Indian Army.
Ajay Singh Gill was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour and a gold medal for securing the first rank in his course that passed out today. He has been commissioned into the Infantry’s Kumaon Regiment. The Indian Army has released a brief notification on its official website, joinindianarmy.nic.in, regarding the Technical Graduate Course (TGC-138). Interested male candidates are invited to apply online for the TGC-138 course scheduled for January 2024. Applications will be accepted from April 18, 2023, until May 17, 2023.
TGC 138 Notification
Male candidates are welcome to apply online for the Technical Graduate Course (TGC-138) starting in January 2024, as per the Short Notification released by the Indian Army. The application window will be open from April 18th to May 17th, 2023.
Nationality: A candidate must either be: – (i) A citizen of India, (ii) a subject of Nepal, or (iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. A candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will attach such certificate along with the application.
Age Limit: 20 to 27 years as on 01 Jan 2024. (Candidates born between 02 Jan 1997 and 01 Jan 2004, both dates inclusive).
Note. The date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination Certificate or an Equivalent Examination Certificate on the date of submission of the application will only be accepted. No other document relating to age will be accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.
TGC 138 Educational Qualification
Educational Qualification for Applying: Candidates who have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course or are in the final year of the Engineering Degree course are eligible to apply. Candidates studying in the final year of the Engg degree course should be able to submit proof of passing the Engg Degree Examination along with mark sheets of all semesters/years by 01 Jan 2024 and produce the Engg Degree Certificate within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at Indian Military Academy (IMA). Such candidates will be inducted on an Additional Bond Basis for recovery of the cost of training at IMA as notified from time to time as well as stipend and pay & allowances paid, in case they fail to produce the requisite degree certificate.
Note-1. ALL FINAL-YEAR APPEARING CANDIDATES WHOSE FINAL YEAR/ FINAL SEMESTER EXAM WILL BE SCHEDULED AFTER 01 JAN 2024 ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS COURSE. Candidates, who have yet to pass their degree examination will be eligible only if they are studying in the final year of the degree examination. Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the final year Degree Examination and are allowed to appear for SSB should note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to submit proof of passing Engineering Degree Examination alongwith all marksheets towards the Engineering Degree Examination by the above prescribed date and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of basic qualifying University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other grounds whatsoever.
Note-2. For induction to Pre Commission Training Academy, after final selection, the minimum educational qualification is passing BE/B.Tech degree in the Engineering streams notified below at Para 3. To become eligible for induction into TGC-138 course at Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun, candidates studying in final year of engineering are required to submit proof of passing Engineering Degree Examination alongwith marksheets of all semesters/years by 01 Jan 2024 to Directorate General of Recruiting and ensure that the cumulative percentage of marks upto final semester/ year is not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.
Note-3. Final semester/year studying candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear in SSB; subject to following conditions:- (a) Their cumulative percentage of marks upto 6th semester/3rd year of Engineering degree, upto 8th semester/4th year of INDIAN ARMY www.joinindianarmy.nic.in 138TH TECHNICAL GRADUATE COURSE (TGC-138) (JAN 2024) B. Architecture (B.Arch) and up to 2nd semester/1st year of M.Sc in notified equivalent stream/ discipline is not below the approved cut off percentage in their respective streams. (b) After declaration of final results, the cumulative percentage of marks upto final semester/ year of degree course will also be not less than the approved cut off percentage, failing which the candidature will be cancelled.
Note-4. Candidates studying in final year/semester of Engineering degree course should not have any backlog at the time of submission of application. Any candidate if found having backlog will not be allowed to appear in SSB interview and candidature of such candidates will be cancelled.
TGC 138 Vacancies
40 Vacancies in total, Candidates must note that only the Engineering streams and their acceptable equivalent streams, strictly as notified in the table below, will be accepted. Candidates with degrees in any other Engineering stream(s) are not eligible to apply. Any variation between the nomenclature of the Engineering stream as given on the degree parchment/mark sheet and that submitted by the candidate in his online application will result in the cancellation of candidature.
TGC 138 Type Of Commission
(a) Grant of Commission. Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission on probation in the rank of Lt from the date of commencement of the course or the date of reporting at IMA, whichever is later, and will be entitled to full pay and allowances admissible to Lt during the training period. Pay & allowances will be paid after the successful completion of training.
(b) Permanent Commission. On successful completion of training, cadets will be granted Permanent Commission in the Army in the rank of Lt.
(c) Ante Date Seniority. One year ante date seniority from the date of commission will be granted to Engineering Graduates of TGC Entry in the rank of Lt.
TGC 138 How To Apply
(a) Applications will only be accepted online on website “www.joinindianarmy.nic.in”. Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’. Fill the online registration form after reading the instructions carefully. After getting registered, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard. A page ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’ will open. Then click ‘Apply’ shown against Technical Graduate Course. A page ‘Application Form’ will open. Read the instructions carefully and click ‘Continue’ to fill details as required under various segments. Personal information, Communication details, Education details and details of previous SSB. ‘Save & Continue’ each time before you go to the next segment. After filling details on the last segment, you will move to a page ‘Summary of your information’ wherein you can check and edit the entries already made. Then click on ‘Submit Now’ only after carefully ascertaining that the correct details have been filled in. Candidates must click ‘Submit Now’ each time they open the application for editing. The candidates are required to take out two copies of their application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application on last day.
CGPA/Grades must be converted into Marks as per the formulae adopted by the concerned University for filling ‘Marks obtained in Graduation’ in online application. Any discrepancy observed at any stage of selection process will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix the cutoff percentage of marks for each Engineering discipline/stream (cumulatively obtained upto 6th semester for Engg Degree course/ 2nd semester for M Sc. Computer science/ 8th semester for Architecture) without assigning any reason. After shortlisting of applications, the center allotment will be intimated to the candidate via their email. After allotment of the Selection Centre, candidates will have to log in to the website and select their SSB dates which are available on a first come first served basis, up to a specified date as will be intimated on the website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
(b) Only shortlisted eligible candidates depending on the cutoff percentage will be interviewed at one of the Selection Centres viz. Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Kapurthala (Punjab) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer and Interviewing Officer. Call Up letter for SSB interview will be issued by respective Selection Centres through candidate’s registered e-mail id and SMS only. Allotment of Selection Centre is at the discretion of DG Rtg, IHQ MoD (Army) and NO request for changes are entertained in this regard.
(c) Candidates will be put through two stage selection procedure at the SSB. Those who clear Stage I will go to Stage II. Those who fail in Stage I will be returned on the same day. Duration of SSB interviews is five days, and details of the same are available at official website of Dte Gen of Rtg www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. This will be followed by a medical examination of the candidates who get recommended after Stage II.
(d) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, will be issued Joining Letter for training in the order of merit, depending on the number of vacancies available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria.
TGC 138 Merit List
IT IS TO BE NOTED THAT MERE QUALIFYING AT THE SSB INTERVIEW DOES NOT CONFIRM FINAL SELECTION. THE MERIT LIST WILL BE PREPARED ENGINEERING STREAM/SUBJECT-WISE ON THE BASIS OF THE MARKS OBTAINED BY THE CANDIDATE AT THE SSB INTERVIEW. HIGHER EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS, PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES, NCC BACKGROUND, ETC HAVE NO ROLE TO PLAY. THOSE ON THE MERIT LIST AND WHO COME WITHIN THE STIPULATED STREAM-WISE VACANCIES, AND ARE MEDICALLY FIT WILL BE ISSUED JOINING LETTERS FOR PRE-COMMISSIONING TRAINING AT IMA DEHRADUN.

Selected candidates will be detailed for training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun according to their position in the final order of merit, engineering stream-wise up to the number of vacancies available at the time. (b) Duration of training – 49 weeks.
