In a significant visit to the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg, Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), took stock of the advanced training facilities and techniques being imparted to the Indian Army’s specialized mountain warfare units. The General Officer, who also holds the title of Colonel of the Madras Regiment, observed the training routines of the ski troops and the Elbrus team, which are integral to the army’s operations in harsh terrains.

During his visit, Lt Gen Singh was thoroughly briefed on the latest equipment used in mountain, snow warfare, and Search and Rescue (SAR) operations, highlighting the army’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities in extreme conditions. The ceremony was held to pay homage to the valor and sacrifice of Lance Naik (Late) Krishna Bahadur Chhetri, a true Braveheart who laid down his life in the line of duty in Mizoram on this very day in 1968.

The solemn event brought together members of the Assam Rifles, alongside dignitaries, veterans, and local residents, as they gathered to honor the memory of Lance Naik Krishna Bahadur Chhetri.

Amidst the tranquil surroundings of the War Memorial, emotions ran high as tributes were paid to the courageous soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.

In a remarkable display of precision and inter-service coordination, an Indian Army jawan who accidentally severed his hand while operating machinery at a forward-area unit was swiftly airlifted to Delhi for emergency surgery.

The incident occurred in the Ladakh sector, where the jawan was performing routine duties.

The Army personnel faced a critical window of 6 to 8 hours within which the surgery needed to be performed to save his appendage. Responding to the emergency, an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J aircraft was deployed within an hour to transport the injured jawan to the Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital in Delhi.

The airlift was conducted under challenging conditions using Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) during the dark hours, underscoring the capabilities and readiness of the IAF. Upon arrival in Delhi, the jawan received immediate medical attention from a dedicated team of medical professionals.
