Recommended in 11th Attempt from SSB Bhopal

4

Determination, hard work, patience, Self confidence etc these are not only words which we use in WAT and TAT but these are the actual mantras of success. I think without these things it’s difficult to achieve anything. Anything means everything. So this is my request to all of u to develop these things in you and you’ll definitely be there where ever you want.

So let’s begin with my valuable experience i.e my previous attempts. Some feel shy of telling their attempts because they consider them as a bad experience. The reason behind is they don’t learn from their experience and I m not taunting anybody but I am telling u that pls try to learn from your past experience and introspect yourself. So let’s begin my  roller coaster ride. I started my journey in 2012 with TGC-115 and dere I got screened out  and this is not it. In next 4 attempts the result was same ie in SSC-39,TGC-116, SSC-40, TGC-117. Then comes the day when I got screened in Bhopal in July 2013 in SSC-41 , almost after a year. But I had no regrets about the year in fact I was happy that I got screened in. Now from dere onwards I was shifted to conference out lot and I was out for 5 times continuously from SSC-41, TGC-118, SSC-42, Navy PC(EDU), TGC-119.

Now comes my 11th attempt and this was special because this time it was CDS entry (OTA). The pros of cds entry is that the candidates are less as comparatively to other entries, so chances are more but u need to perform as per their standards.  I reported their in Bhopal on 8th may . Total 60 candidates came there.(Advantage). So they took us to the SSB center. They showed us our lines allotted us rooms and called us at 4 pm for the documentation. So they checked the documents and after that one officer came their and briefed us about the next 5 days, then we were asked to report at 6 next day. I made some friends on first day. So I just shared rooms with them.

Day 1 :- OIR and PPDT

One of the most important day. Here anything can happen. They gave us OIR and it was simple just try to solve some verbal and non verbal questions at home and you will be able to solve it. Then comes PPDT they showed us a hazy picture and in that two persons were there in a jungle . So I made a story on Archeological theme, I narrated well but many people in discussion were sticked  to adventure camp so I moved with them and concluded it with that theme. Then after lunch, results were out and out of 60, 30 were screened in. So they gave us new chest no and mine was 27 lucky 9.

Day 2 :- Psychological test

ssb+interview+candidates+Its not that simple. So practice the TAT , WAT and SRT at home. Don’t write pre conceived stories because they will defiantly catch this. So write the stories around a theme which they show you there . In WAT write some observational sentences and in SRT there is a practice book in SSBCRACK.com so download it and practice it and prepare a SD according to your life don’t copy it from any site or from ur friend’s book.
After this test I was the first person whose interview they had already scheduled. So I was nervous because I had to go to Commandant of Bhopal (Major General). But I calm my mind and went inside the room and answered him confidently and if u don’t know the answer just say sorry don’t give your college guessing fundas. This will make a bad image of yours in IO’s mind.

Day:-3 and 4 GTO

We were 10 candidates in the group. We started our day with GD. Be calm in GD, listen to others and give your valuable knowledge and try not to make fish market . Our topics were “Reason for road accidents and reason for migration” then comes PGT, HGT, FGT in all these try to help others so that your group will complete the task . No words for snake race , do whatever you want . GPE , try to make a practical solution and while making think that can you actually do it or not in real life ???and then discuss it calmly. IO, depends on your stamina and I did 13 …….lecturette I got Judicial system, read newspaper and magazine to collect  information. In Command Task  try to analyze your task and then do it.

Day :- 5 Conference

This time I waited for 3 or 4 minutes outside the room then they called me. I wished them and they asked me about my experience and then they asked me that for instance here you fell short of one mark then how you will convince us. I analyzed this question and  told them my strengths and told them what I have improved during my journey and then they asked about any suggestion . I said no and came out of the room.
Out of 30, 4 got recommended. I cleared my medicals and now waiting for the merit….All the best to all J
ssb About Akash Sharma: Akash with his strong motivation and hardwork cleared the SSB interview and Medicals from Bhopal in his 11th attempt.

Why General Knowledge is Important

0
Wouldn’t you make a fool of yourself if you don’t know a little about a lot of things going around you or in general things that happened? Or wouldn’t you feel awkward if your friends or people around you, are having some healthy discussion and you’re not part of it because you are neither able to contribute your comments nor even able to understand what others speak.

You’ll definitely feel inarticulate because without proper general knowledge your socialization factor becomes a little constrained. If you don’t have a little knowledge about a lot of things you won’t be able to figure out what it is that you want to be, decision making very difficult without proper knowledge and you have to rely on advice of the other people. That is why general knowledge is a very basic need of human life. We need to experience the world at least through books, magazines, discussions or other sources before we tie ourselves to one anchor.
importance+of+general+knowledge
General knowledge is extremely important part of intelligence which is associated with your knowledge and awareness. General knowledge is supported by long term memory. It is a very good indicator of crystallized intelligence i.e. mental skills acquired through education and experience. It is something that opens gateways of your thinking and also helps to grow your confidence level. The more you know about specific things, the more you can connect the individual, separate facts to other facts. Generally, speaking people with a good knowledge base exhibit greater retention of facts and figures and are regarded more intelligent.
And if we talk about CDS exam, GK section is known to be the toughest section and it is seen that most of the candidates fail to qualify this exam because they undeniably do well in English and mathematics but lack in GK. So, here are some basic tips by implementing which, you can improve your general knowledge:
  • Newspapers– Try to read newspapers daily. Try to go through headlines at least.
  • Magazines– Go for a good magazine. It can help to go through important event over a period of time, say a week, a fortnight or a month.
  • TV News & Discussions– Follow on good TV News & Discussion shows. It helps a lot to know what’s going around.

  • Newsletters & GK Books– To improve on popular peoples and doings, significant peoples and places, you must go through a GK book. There are many good GK books are available in market.
  • Year Book– To know current affairs of the year go through it. It has significant details of current happenings.
  • Radio– Listen to radio news, it can be the easiest way to be connected to the world.

SSB Perception Management, State of Mind And Focus by Col. Kataria

SSB Perception Management, State of Mind And Focus by Col. Kataria

SSB is a unique test; one cannot compare with your previous experiences. That is why candidate remain unsure about it – how to crack, how to face, how to prepare so on. Most of these questions create numerous conflicts in the mind of candidates until they go through the entire process of SSB. Facing SSB is nothing but it’s all about how you manage your perception, state of mind and focus.

  1. What is perception management – Perception means when you look    at an object or stimulus you see two sides of it – positive or negative or another possibility deny it. When you reverse your actual perception means distortion of perception.  That is why most of the candidates commit mistake in their approach in handling SSB process. Remember perceive as shown to you, whether negative or positive and never ever deny it. It is a myth that you always have to think or write positive.
  2. State of mind – SSB is all about expressing your intellectual level whenever you are required to do so or given a chance. Leader always think, apply his mind and lead from front. Go with relax mind so that brain can function at its best. There is nothing in SSB, which you cannot handle. It’s all about applying your self at the right time and place.
  3. Focus – Regular preparation and focused approach would make you   confident. Improve your listening skills, as during SSB you have to listen then act as per instructions whether it is interview, GTO or psych testing.
    GTO Task
As per my experience, how does most of the candidates approach or perceive SSB. They;
  • Treat SSB like university or school examination.
  • Have fear of unknown in spite of having numerous feedbacks.
  • Perceiving stress in the environment, this leads to low-level performance.
  • Candidate displays inconsistent behavior during the course of SSB, which he manifests from highly stressful to over confident state of mind during the course of SSB, both of these will take him nowhere. What matters is balance and consistent performance.
  • Take ideas from non- assessor, rejected or selected candidates or from books available in the market, which create lot of confusion in mind.
Managing your perception, state of mind and focus will help in doing well in SSB. What do you do;-
  • Always clarify your doubts from expert so that your perception is not confused.
  • Always perceive as shown to you and do not distort your perception whether it is TAT, WAT or GTO Tasks.
  • There is nothing in SSB that you cannot do then why have fear of unknown.
  • Learn to express 15 officers like qualities through various tasks.
  • Handle one task at a time. Do not start thinking of next tasks when first one is going on.
  • Each test and task carry equal weightage so keep on performing to achieve positive result.
  • Do not give up even if you have not done well in one technique or task.
  • Concentrate on your personal performance in relation with your group.
How to  approach  – Manage your perception – Go with relax state of mind – focused approach – good listening skills –  You have all qualities in you , express them at right time and right place – Remember your selection is based on demonstrated performance , if you have it in you, learn to demonstrate it. I am sure you will make it.

How To Achieve A Balanced Personality?

1
How To Achieve A Balanced Personality?

As we all are aware of the fact that there is no quickie scheme that will make us a successful person. So how do we go about realizing what is truly important to us? How do we recognize our weaknesses? How do we become balanced? How do we open that magical door that will show us the way to personal growth and success? Well, there are many qualities that shape a successful leader and having a balanced personality is one of them.

A balanced personality is a sum total of the certain desired characteristics, so that an individual life leads to peace, harmony and success. It is an integrated structure, just as a building is more than bricks, cement and wood, similarly personality of an individual is more than basic elements or parts. Thus, any change in one part of the structure definitely influences the other. Since a healthy personality is not only a part of the person’s hereditary endowment but is developed through learning and life experiences, almost everyone can have a balanced personality. A balanced personality is marked by good physical appearance, emotional stability, high intellectual ability, high degree of social adjustment and many more qualities. The characteristics of a well balanced personality serve as guidelines for one’s improvement which in turn leads to the creation of a better and well balanced human being whether it is in terms of physical, mental or social aspects. It makes one good at making decisions, both sympathy & empathy.

Characteristics of a well balanced personality:
  1. Good physical appearance: It includes proportionate body structure, dressing habits, code conduct etc.
  2. Emotional Stability: This signifies full control over emotions under any situation. This in turn leads to practical approach towards life.
  3. High intellectual ability: This includes high intelligence, problem solving ability, analytical view, synthesis, judgmental ability, decision making etc.
  4. High degree of social adjustment: Well-balanced personality generally well adapted to social gatherings and performs activities within the norms of the society.
  5. High moral character: If one possesses good social and moral values, it makes him the desirable citizen of a country. A good moral character includes virtues like honesty, respect for elders, abiding by the rules and regulations, respecting other’s opinion, etc.
  6. Cool temperament: A well-balanced personality calls for a cool mental state. The one, who is more patient towards others, thinks with a rational mind. The idea is that one evaluates the pros and cons of every activity and comes up with the best possible result.
  7. Good Directness: These are some hidden qualities of a good leader or director. A well-balanced personality surely has great convincing power and charisma, because of which, people tend to follow them.
  8. High adjustability: If one is very flexible and in a position to adjust oneself to all the situations, then one is not prone to any problem faced by unbalanced personalities.
  9. Tremendous commonsense and drive:  Such a personality does not make pre-mature evaluation and does not thus jump to conclusions. He is generally self-motivated and speaks his own mind.
  10. Pragmatic Thinking: The one with a pragmatic thinking is one who has a practical approach towards life and its manifestations. He generally listens to his brain and not to his heart and is thus successful in all his endeavors.
  11. Balance between professional and personal life: If one maintains a balance between one’s professional as well as personal life, and caters for proper time management, it provides one the feeling of immense satisfaction.

Methods to achieve a well balanced personality:
  • First step that should be taken in order to achieve a well balanced personality is to outgrow all the undesirable personality traits.
  • Another step is to acquire a good health.
  • One should develop success factors as persistence, thoroughness, accuracy, curiosity, originality, leadership, pride in achievement and creativity in one’s thinking.
  • One should set a good example of personal and social adjustment and develop contacts with people having socially approved standards, and ideals before one.
  • One should increase one’s social insight to understand people better and to control one’s behavior to be accepted.
  • One must avoid the development of a “failure complex”, instead increase one’s self understanding about one’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • One should develop one’s favorable self image by stressing one’s potentials and by acquiring the skills needed to achieve these potentials in real life.
  • By letting yourself know that the people who are significant in your life have faith in you, trust you and accept the best of you.
  • One should develop stress tolerance to avoid the self-dislike that leads to self-rejection.
  • By experiencing the thrills of contributing to activities and goals, which are good, meaningful and worthy in your view.

Women: The Trendsetters In Indian Armed Forces

0

This article I’m writing down especially for our lady aspirants, which I’m, sure will help to bring enthusiasm, energy and make them aspire more to join defense. In the modern world, there are no domains of work that women haven’t delved into. Whether it is politics, business, industry or Indian armed forces, you can find confident, bold women, molding into every role and setting examples for everyone. Well, in the land of Razia Sultana and Rani of Jhansi, it comes as no surprise that women make their mark in the Armed Forces.

In the role of a soldier, women have done extremely well and have proved themselves better in serving the nation. Although, women in the Indian Armed forces were inducted primarily in the non-combat arms only like medical corps as doctors and nurses. But in 1992, the doors were thrown open for women entry as regular officers in aviation, logistics, and law, engineering and executive cadres. Apparently they have proved their ability and discharged their duties suitably enough, for what started as a 5 year stint has been increased to 10 and subsequently 14 years for a few disciplines. Whereas, women in the medical branch i.e. doctors and nurses can serve as Permanent Commissioned (PC) officers and are eligible for pension after retirement and also two departments i.e. JAG and AEC have granted permanent commission to the women in the Indian army.

People often wonder, what qualities do they bring to these jobs? Well, research has shown that women are more perceptive and intuitive and endowed with organizational skills that help plan right down to minute detail. They have the ability to empathize and understand, thus making them excel in all such fields that deal with interaction with human personnel; these are fields where women in the armed forces can make a sterling contribution.

Indian Army Lady Officers
Women in the Indian armed forces have always had a “tough row to hoe” and we owe a lot to those women who literally broke ground, opened doors, and made the choice of a military career easier for those who followed. Beginning with the early pioneers, here are some of the achievements military women and their accomplishments:
  • Priya Jhingan- The first lady cadet to join the Indian Army, later commissioned on 6 March 1993.
  • Air Marshal Padmavathy Bandopadhyay- The first woman to become an Air Marshal of the Indian Air Force. She joined the Indian Air Force in 1968.
  • Lt. Divya Ajith- The first woman in the history of the Indian Army, to be selected for the ‘Sword of Honour’ in 2010, which is the highest award given to a cadet of the Officers Training Academy.
  • Shanti Tigga- The first woman to join the Territorial Army, she was honored by former president Pratibha Patil for being the first female jawan of our country.
  • Lt. Ganeve Lalji- A young intelligence officer who created the history by becoming the first woman to be appointed as a key aide to an Army Commander.
  • Lt. Gen. Punita Arora – The first woman in India to don the second highest rank i.e. Lieutenant General of Indian Armed Forces and the first Vice admiral of Indian Navy.
  • Mitali Madhumita – She became India’s first female officer to receive the Sena Medal for gallantry in 2011.
  • Flight Officer Gunjan Saxena – She made history by becoming the first woman IAF officer to fly in a combat zone during the Kargil war. She was later honored with the Shurya Vir Award.
  • Sq. ldr. Veena Saharan- The first woman pilot to land heavy lift transport aircraft IL-76 at Leh airfield.
  • Fl. Lt. Sneha Shekhawat- The first woman Indian Air Force officer who led a contingent of 144 airmen at the 63rd Republic Day parade down the Raj path.
  • Fl. Lt. Nivedita Choudhary- The first woman from the Indian Air Force to summit the Mt. Everest.
Apart from that, there are many names that can be added in notable achievements by women in the Indian armed forces. If you know any, please share with us and let everyone know.
