Meet The Indian Air Force Delhi to Nagpur from 16 Sep - 05 Oct 13

As a part of proactive programmes to connect with the youth, the IAF is conducting a Student Interaction Drive, named ‘Guardians of the Sky’, from 16 Sep – 05 Oct 13. The Drive is aimed to closely interact with students in seven cities across Central and Western India so as to create awareness about the IAF in general and career opportunities in the officers’ cadre in particular.

Selected young IAF officers in customised Gypsies, along with support staff, would be ‘flagged off’ by Air Marshal PR Sharma AVSM,Air Officer in charge Personnel, from Air Force Station New Delhi in the evening hours on 16 Sep 13. The team would cover six cities –Gwalior, Indore, Nasik, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad, before being ‘flagged in’ at Nagpur on 05 Oct 13, after covering over 3000 kms. En route, ‘Guardians of the Sky’ would meet young men and women at nine premier educational institutes in these cities, including the IITs at Mumbai, Hyderabad and Indore. At each location, a multidisciplinary group of IAF officers would be on hand to interact with the students, to provide details on career opportunities in the IAF and to answer queries. A few interesting events are also planned to encourage participation by students.

An IAF Adventure team, comprising para sailing instructors, powered hang gliders and a microlight
aircraft, forms a part of the Drive. Selected students at each institute would be given a unique opportunity
to participate in para sailing at a suitable location in the vicinity, while some others would also get to visit a
nearby IAF base and soar to the skies in a microlight aircraft or Powered Hang Glider.

The drive would provide a great opportunity for students to experience glimpses of the adventurous
life that IAF offers and of avenues available as an IAF officer. For the IAF, this novel effort is a way of
reaching out to the youth by offering opportunities in aero sports at their doorstep; to make them more ‘air
minded’ and aware of the uniqueness of ‘Brand IAF’

Review of the AFCAT 2 2013 Written Results

Considering the tougher level of the paper it was expected that the cutoff might go down, but so down was certainly not expected. The cut-off this time is the lowest cut-off in the AFCAT history, lucky for many of us who got in. IAF has certainly raised the bar by raising the level of the question paper, but the intake remains the same considering the lower cut-offs.
Good luck to those who made it, be careful while choosing your date and venue of AFSB interview, since it’s on you to choose so make sure it doesn’t coincides with any other exam/interview which you might have in future. Those of you who didn’t make it, hard luck this time, but prepare hard for the next time, you’ll sure make it after all “Girte hain shehsawar hi maidaine jung mein”.

Individual Obstacles In Army and Airforce SSB

I.O. also know as Individual Obstacles is one of the tasks of the GTO series, generally conducted on the first day of GTO testing. Sometimes it could be conducted on the second day, depending on the weather and mood of the officer. As the name suggest this task is performed by each member of the group, individually.
The purpose of this test is to check ability, physical toughness, stamina level, courage, determination, acrophobia (fear of heights), it also checks how fast you can make choice and execute it. There are total 10 tasks and time bound is 3 min. one can repeat the task if he is able to complete all 10 obstacles before 3 min. all obstacles are marked from 1 to 10, more task a candidate complete more his marks will be. You need to maintain a good stamina level. It is not necessary to start the tasks from 1st, but it is left to the wish of the candidate where does he want to start from. Army and Navy SSB has same IO tasks but there are few differences between I.O. in army and air force selection centres.

It is important to catch the rope at chest level so that you don’t slide down and get cuts. SSB Interview Dress Code For Women Candidates

1

Dressing forms an important part of a person’s personality and especially when it comes to Interviews and such formal occasions, an appropriate dress is very necessary. SSB is one such place, where your dressing reflects your personality to some extent. Since it is a very formal occasion, hence proper care must be taken in order to wear the right dress throughout. Here are some dressing guidelines for our women aspirants who are going to appear in the SSB, for the kind of dress which can be worn. Although I have seen people coming in jeans and tees getting through and pure formals getting out, so it’s your performance that matters the most, but your dress completes your personality.

ssbinterviewbook

For Screening Day

You can wear formal trouser/jeans along with a smart shirt or a decent top or even salwar-kurta, or jeans-kurti, you can wear sport shoes or formal shoes as your wish. There is no such necessity to wear formal attire for screening but it’s better and safer since you have to appear in front of the Board members. For Psychological Tests: In this you can wear anything decent, like western or Indian as per your wish.

For GT Series

SSB Interview Dress Code For Women Candidates

It is explicitly mentioned to wear white sports kit. You can wear a white sports lower (if you are not finding one buy a black/grey sports lower, but do try hard for a white one), white polo T-shirts are best option for uppers, you can go for a tracksuit as well. Don’t forget to take a windcheater or any jacket if your SSB falls in winter time. Women are allowed to wear even white salwar along with white kurta and I have seen some wearing white shorts as well, along with white t-shirt. Get a white sport shoes and practice running in that so you are comfortable, white tennis (school PT shoes) are cheap and best, if you a shoe with some tint of other color it is acceptable.

For Interview and conference

SSB Interview Dress Code For Women Candidates

Be very particular about wearing formal attire in interview & conference. Formal can be Western or Indian. Wear light colored shirt and dark trouser if you going for a western formal, don’t wear very fancy clothes, and be simple and decent. You can wear a salwar-kurta for Indian, make sure to wear proper and normal salwar and no chudidar’s or leggings, they don’t qualify as formals, only simple salwar which are included in school dresses are formals, try to wear a simple cotton suit, with no fancy works etc. You must accompany your dress with proper formal shoes, which must be in black color, wear a black socks (in western attires), don’t go for heeled shoes, only a minimal heel is acceptable. You can put a necktie if you are wearing a western formal (optional). Even sarees are permissible. Wear the clothes in which you are comfortable. For e.g.: don’t go for Western formals if you are not habitual and comfortable in it, Interview is a long time process hence you must be comfortable in your dress.   For other purposes, mess etc.: Remember you will not be allowed in slippers outside your room, so carry a sandal or shoe which you can easily put up at fall-in time or while going for mess. Carry decent clothes which are according to the season.
