Why Join The Armed Forces

Have you ever thought that why you want to join the Armed forces i.e. Army, Navy or Airforce? Well I know many of us have the passion for the armed forces, many of us are in love with the uniform and the discipline and the list is endless. Yet there are many practical reasons to join the forces. This article covers those reasons, knowing them will definitely attract you towards the forces.

Pays and Perks

Being in the armed forces entitles you to draw a handsome amount of pay and attractive perks along with that. Even before you are Commissioned as an Officer you start earning a monthly stipend during last one year of your training period at most of the Training Institutions. After getting commissioned you get a salary amounting to near about 50,000 approx.  As you grow in rank and stature, your income and other entitlements also increase in harmony with your enhanced responsibilities.

Job Security

Working in the forces gives a job security and assurance which is very essential for future. This kind of job security is not offered in the private sector. You are free from living the life of a nomad who has to switch jobs frequently! You have good chances of growth in your ranks.

You entitled to join officer’s clubs etc. at so cheap that it seems like almost free. You get free rationing, fully furnished house where you are posted. Other facilities like school for your children also exist.

Benefits for Serving Personnel

Many benefits exist for a serving officer:
  • Insurance: All personnel, including Flight Cadets are provided life insurance cover.
  • Loans: House Building Loan, Computer Loan, Conveyance Loan etc
  • Medical: All officers, their families and dependents have free access to medical rooms and hospitals equipped with the best of facilities. Apart from being treated at the Armed Forces Hospitals, there are also tie ups with Civil Hospitals for treatment of specialized cases, if required. Patients are also given grants for purchase of necessary medical equipment and mechanical aid to help make them self-reliant.

Apart from these you get accommodation, Annual leave and casual leave, Leave travel concessions, Rations, Institute and Messes membership, School facilities, Rail concessions, Secured camp life, CSD facilities, Recreational and sports facilities.
