Indian Navy Team Rescues Injured Woman from Speedboat Collision in Odisha

In a dramatic turn of events, a swift response by a diving team from the Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command resulted in the successful rescue of a severely injured woman following a speedboat collision in the Mahanadi River. The incident occurred in close proximity to the Bali Yatra maritime trade fair ground in Odisha, where the Navy team was deployed for reconnaissance ahead of the upcoming Bali Yatra 2024 event.

Eyewitnesses reported that the Navy team, already on-site, immediately observed the accident and quickly mobilized to provide assistance. According to a statement released by a Naval spokesperson, the team employed the buddy carry technique to effectively carry the injured woman over a considerable distance of over a kilometer to the nearest police help center.

Compounding the urgency of the situation, there was no ambulance available at the time of the rescue. In a commendable display of initiative, the Navy personnel arranged for an autorickshaw, ensuring that the woman could be transported promptly to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The swift actions of the diving team not only underscored their training and readiness but also highlighted their commitment to community safety and support during critical emergencies.

Witness accounts and official statements underscore the significance of the Navy’s proactive stance, emphasizing their role not only in maritime security but also in acting as first responders during urgent situations on land. As authorities continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the collision, the heroic actions of the Indian Navy diving team stand as a testament to their dedication and readiness to serve the public in times of crisis.
