The Indian Army has officially announced the recruitment details for the 35th Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme, which will commence in October 2025. The announcement invites applications from unmarried male and female law graduates for Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer roles within the JAG branch. With only ten days remaining for candidates to submit their applications, the Indian Army is looking to fill a total of eight JAG positions, divided equally with four reserved for men and four allocated for women.

To qualify for this prestigious opportunity, candidates must have completed their LLB degree, whether through a three-year course post-graduation or a five-year integrated course after completing 10+2. A minimum aggregate of 55 percent marks from a recognized university is required. Additionally, candidates must possess a valid score from the CLAT PG 2024 examination and should be eligible for registration as a lawyer with either the Bar Council of India or the respective Bar Council of the state. The law degree should be obtained from an institution accredited by the Bar Council of India.
Age eligibility is also specified, with candidates needing to be between 21 to 27 years old as of November 28, 2024, the application deadline.
Once selected, candidates for the JAG positions will undergo a comprehensive training program lasting 49 weeks at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) located in Chennai. During this training period, a monthly stipend of Rs. 56,100 will be provided. Upon successful completion of the training, the officers will receive a salary adhering to the designated pay scale, which for the rank of Lieutenant ranges from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500. Additional benefits include a Military Service Pay of Rs. 15,500, along with various allowances.
The selection of candidates will be conducted through a two-phase process. The first phase involves a Service Selection Board (SSB) interview, which serves to evaluate candidates’ competencies and suitability for the JAG roles. The second phase will comprise a medical examination to assess the physical and mental fitness of the candidates.
