Delhi Ganesh, a revered veteran Tamil actor and former Indian Air Force officer, was laid to rest with full military honours in Chennai on November 11, following his passing on November 9 due to complications related to his advanced age. He was 80 years old at the time of his death.
The final rites took place at his residence in Ramapuram and were marked by a poignant tribute from Indian Air Force personnel. As a sign of respect for his service, they draped his body with the Indian Air Force ensign, acknowledging his decade-long commitment to the Air Force before he transitioned to a successful career in film.
Delhi Ganesh’s illustrious career in Tamil cinema began after his tenure in the Air Force. He was given the stage name ‘Delhi Ganesh’ by renowned filmmaker K. Balachander, who cast him in his first film, “Pattina Pravesam,” in 1976. Over the years, Ganesh graced the screens in more than 400 films, becoming well-known for his remarkable versatility and dedication to the craft.
