Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit Inaugurates C-295 Full Motion Simulator Facility at Air Force Station Agra

Agra, November 11, 2024 – In a significant step towards enhancing operational readiness and safety, Central Air Commander, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, inaugurated the state-of-the-art C-295 Full Motion Simulator facility at Air Force Station, Agra. The cutting-edge simulator is designed to provide transport aircraft pilots with a near-realistic environment to practice operational missions and emergency scenarios.

Enhancing Pilot Training and Operational Safety

The new facility is a major advancement for the Indian Air Force (IAF), enabling pilots to refine their skills in handling critical situations without actual flight risks. The simulator replicates real-world conditions, allowing transport aircraft pilots to undergo comprehensive training that enhances their operational capabilities and ensures flight safety.

“The C-295 Full Motion Simulator is a game-changer for the Indian Air Force’s transport operations. It offers a safe and effective training platform for pilots to prepare for both routine and emergency missions,” said an IAF official at the event.

C-295 Transport Aircraft Induction and Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The inauguration of the simulator facility comes on the heels of the induction of the C-295 transport aircraft into the IAF fleet. The C-295 is a versatile and modern transport aircraft that is set to revolutionize air mobility for the Indian Air Force. The aircraft is equipped to handle a variety of roles, including troop movement, medical evacuation, and logistical support in remote areas.

In a significant boost to the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative, subsequent C-295 aircraft will be manufactured domestically at the Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) facility in Vadodara. This partnership highlights India’s progress in building a robust defense manufacturing ecosystem and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers.
