In a significant initiative to bolster local recruitment, the Indian Army is set to conduct a recruitment drive in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir from November 8 to 20. This effort aims to fill over 350 vacancies in the Territorial Army, according to a statement from a defence spokesman.
The recruitment rally will take place at the Advance Landing Ground in the Surankote area, presenting an opportunity for local youth to join the ranks of the army and contribute to national defense, while also serving their community. The event is particularly focused on filling 307 positions for soldier-general duty and 45 vacancies for clerks and tradesmen within the Territorial Army.
The recruitment drive is open to candidates hailing from 31 tehsils across the Jammu division, which includes Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Jammu districts. Candidates throughout the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are eligible to apply for the clerks and tradesmen positions, expanding the scope and accessibility of the recruitment process.
A spokesman remarked that this initiative is not just about filling positions; it is about providing young individuals with a platform to showcase their skills and commit to their nation’s defense. He emphasized the collaborative effort between the Indian Army and the civil administration of Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate a smooth and efficient recruitment rally.
The Army expresses optimism regarding the outcome of this rally, envisioning a successful event that will allow the youth of the region to embrace the honor of serving their homeland as ‘Sons of Soil.’ This drive is expected to significantly empower local youth, enabling them to secure roles that contribute to the safety and security of their nation.
