Sudan Paramilitaries Claim Lives of 10 Civilians, Say Activists

Ten Civilians Killed in Al-Jazira State Amid Escalating Violence in Sudan

Al-Jazira, Sudan – In a tragic incident reported by pro-democracy activists, ten civilians were killed in the village of Barborab in central Sudan’s Al-Jazira state. The Madani Resistance Committee, a local volunteer group overseeing aid efforts, has attributed the killings to the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which is currently engaged in an intense conflict with the Sudanese army.

According to the committee, the attack took place on Monday night and marked a significant escalation in the violence that has plagued the region. Barborab is located approximately 85 kilometers (50 miles) northeast of the state capital Wad Madani.

The ongoing conflict in Al-Jazira has been devastating, with local officials and medical personnel estimating that about 200 people have lost their lives in rising violence over the past month alone. The situation has forced many residents to flee, with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) reporting that around 135,000 individuals have been displaced to other states seeking safety and humanitarian assistance.

As tensions continue to mount in the area, the humanitarian crisis deepens, raising urgent calls for international attention and support to assist those affected by the violence in Sudan.
