UAE’s EDGE Expands Global Footprint with Strategic Alliances in Turkey
Dubai, UAE – DATE – UAE defense firm EDGE has officially partnered with Turkish ammunition manufacturer ASSAN, signing three agreements aimed at enhancing the supply of MK aerial munitions components. These MK munitions are integral to air-dropped bombs and are compatible with various guidance kits, marking a significant step for both companies in expanding their capabilities within the defense sector.
Under the first agreement, EDGE’s subsidiary, LAHAB, will supply MK munitions to ASSAN, which is expected to enhance product availability for customers across Africa. This strategic partnership aims to foster mutual growth through a robust exchange of resources and technical expertise.
In addition, LAHAB is set to diversify its offerings with the introduction of Warsaw-configured MK munitions, supported by ASSAN, to better serve its existing clientele. The third agreement appoints ASSAN as a key supplier of NATO-standard MK munitions components to LAHAB, a development anticipated to significantly strengthen LAHAB’s supply chain.
"These agreements with ASSAN Group represent a pivotal move in strengthening our international partnerships and expanding our global footprint,” remarked Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director of EDGE.
Emin Öner, Chairman of ASSAN Group, echoed this sentiment, calling the collaboration an "important step toward getting into the global defense market.”
The latest agreements underscore the strengthening defense relations between Turkey and the UAE. Earlier this year, EDGE partnered with Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar to equip its TB2 drones with advanced Desert Sting 16 GPS- and laser-guided bombs.
In a broader context, 2023 has seen the two nations solidifying their defense ties with signed agreements valued at $50.7 billion, aimed at establishing strategic economic collaboration, particularly in the fields of land and naval unmanned systems and air defense. Moreover, a defense cooperation agreement was inked between Abu Dhabi’s Black Cobra Military Supplies and Turkey’s Defense and Aviation Cluster, further solidifying these ties.
As EDGE and ASSAN embark on this new chapter, the move signifies not just enhanced capabilities for both parties but also a commitment to collaborative growth in the ever-evolving global defense landscape.
