Major Vishavdeep Singh Attri

In the serene landscapes of Nagaland, where the mighty Dhansiri River flows, an ordinary day turned into a moment of life and death for two young children. But in the midst of panic and despair, a hero emerged, reminding us all that a soldier is never truly off duty.

It was a typical day along the riverbanks of the Dhansiri, near Dimapur, when a heart-stopping incident unfolded. Two children, aged around 5 to 6 years, were playing near the water when they were suddenly swept away by the strong river currents. Within moments, they found themselves struggling 30-35 meters deep into the river, beyond their reach and hope. Their terrified cries mingled with the desperate pleas of their mother, who stood helplessly on the shore.

In that critical moment, Major Vishavdeep Singh Attri, an officer from the esteemed Judge Advocate General’s Department of #SpearCorps, stationed at Rangapahar, Nagaland, heard the anguished cries. Without a second thought for his own safety, he sprang into action. Driven by a sense of duty that goes beyond any call of service, he dove into the river’s swirling waters, battling the current to reach the distressed children.

This story is a testament to the spirit of our armed forces, who stand ready to serve, no matter the time, place, or circumstance.
