Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff of India, marked a historic milestone by becoming the first foreign head of service to review the Passing Out Parade at the Bangladesh Naval Academy on July 4, 2024. During this prestigious event, Admiral Tripathi addressed the 68 graduating officers, invoking the vision of ‘Sonar Bangla’ articulated by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the valor of the Mukti Bahini during the 1971 Liberation War. His speech emphasized the importance of dedication to nation-building and national security.
Admiral Tripathi encouraged the graduating class and officer cadets to strive for excellence in all their endeavors, highlighting that excellence should be a way of life. He congratulated the award winners and offered words of encouragement to those who did not receive awards, advising them to not lose hope and to enhance their professionalism through persistent effort.
Complimenting the cadets on their immaculate turnout, drill, and bearing, Admiral Tripathi reminded them of the challenges that lie ahead in the real world, where not everything goes according to plan. He emphasized the need for resilience and toughness, particularly in difficult times, underscoring the adage “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.”
In his closing remarks, Admiral Tripathi reaffirmed the strong ties and close relations between Bangladesh and India, as well as between the two navies. He expressed confidence that these bonds, forged in combat, would continue to grow from strength to strength and contribute to enduring peace in the Indian Ocean Region and the Bay of Bengal. This event not only highlighted the deep military cooperation between the two nations but also reinforced the shared commitment to regional stability and security.
