Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), recently inaugurated 32 new married accommodations for sailors at Vijay Baugh, Port Blair. During the ceremony, he personally handed over the keys to the first occupants, marking a significant milestone in the Indian Navy’s commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel.
This initiative is part of the Indian Navy’s “Ships First” and “Key on Arrival” programs, designed to provide sailors and their families with immediate and quality housing upon their transfer or arrival at a new posting. The new accommodations underscore the Andaman and Nicobar Command’s dedication to ensuring that the needs of serving sailors are met promptly and effectively.
The inauguration event was attended by various dignitaries and senior officers, as well as the families who will be residing in the new accommodations. The facilities are expected to greatly enhance the quality of life for the sailors and their families, providing them with a stable and comfortable living environment.
The “Key on Arrival” initiative, in particular, has been well-received for its focus on the welfare of naval personnel, facilitating a smooth transition for sailors and their families during relocations. Air Marshal Balakrishnan emphasized the importance of such initiatives in maintaining high morale and readiness among the troops.
The addition of these accommodations at Vijay Baugh is a testament to the ongoing efforts by the Indian Navy to look after its personnel, ensuring they have access to essential services and support in their new assignments.
