AIPMT is the mark after 12th which changes the future of a medical student. Every year lakhs of students appear for AIPMT with a dream to become Doctor. But some students take shortcuts to get instantly what some honest students has done after a struggle of 1-2 years.
Recently Supreme Court cancelled the AIPMT 2015 exams giving the statement that high tech cheating in the exam held on 3 May, 2015. The re-exam will be scheduled within 4 weeks. About 6.3 lakh students have attended the exam and have to again appear for it to get to the next level. This exam is the opportunity for medical students to get admission in 15% of the seats in central and state government medical colleges. This is the biggest cancellation of exam on the basis of violation of rules. CBSE on the other hand said that they can’t conduct the test within 1 month. It needs about approx. 4 months to re-conduct the examination. CBSE chairman said ‘For a normal AIPMT test, they start preparation from august’. So 1 month is not sufficient for re-examination.
What Actually Happened?
Haryana police arrested four people from Rohtak out of which two are BDS doctors, one is 2nd year MBBS student. They were using SIM card devices and Bluetooth enabled earphones for communication with the students. The devices were claimed to be bought from New Delhi and police have doubt of this gang having branch in other states also. The actual scenario was that the answer keys of 90 questions were sent to middle man by doctors and MBBS students which were passed on to the students. The students have paid an amount of Rs. 15-20 lakh in exchange of this cheating. The middle man was caught outside an examination center in Rohtak. Later on about 44 students were found guilty.
Outcome of Incident:
About 6.3 lakh students who have appeared in the examination have to prepare again and appear for the examination again on announced date. If CBSE goes with Supreme Court’s decision, then it is hard for honest aspirants to prepare again in 1 week. Two major effects were observed after this decision. First, several AIPMT aspirants are taking admission in Degree College and second, students committing suicide. Till now 4 students have committed suicide mostly the students form kota’s coaching hub. The reason behind these suicides is the parental pressure which made them to take this step.
“There is no shortcut to success”
This quote is applicable for those who cheated in AIPMT 2015 exam. Those students who want to take shortcuts for success had paid a hefty amount and still have to pay further but, those who had prepared thoroughly are also suffering from the situation appearing after this case. Firstly a student dedicate his 1-2 years in preparation of examination and parents pays money of 2-3 lakhs for the coaching. And finally what happens is that either they lose the opportunity or they have to prepare that mammoth syllabus again to appear again in the examination. But it’s better to appear gain then to lose the opportunity and letting non deserving getting the seats.
