In a significant development aimed at bolstering operational capabilities and streamlining administrative functions, Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), inaugurated a new Administrative Block at Baaz on March 26.
The newly opened facility is set to become the nerve center for all administrative and operational activities, marking a critical enhancement in the region’s military infrastructure.
Further elevating the strategic importance of Baaz, Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan also launched the Modern Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) project, a cutting-edge initiative designed to enhance the airfield’s operational capabilities.
This project introduces state-of-the-art navigational aids and enables night landing facilities, a move that significantly boosts the airfield’s efficiency and readiness. The inauguration of the MAFI project is particularly noteworthy as it represents a leap forward in the region’s military aviation capabilities, allowing for increased flexibility and responsiveness in operations, especially under the cover of darkness.
The establishment of the new Administrative Block alongside the launch of the MAFI project at Baaz underscores the Indian military’s commitment to strengthening its infrastructure and operational prowess in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
These developments are poised to enhance the strategic depth and operational readiness of India’s military forces in the region, providing a robust platform for administrative and operational requirements.
