The Indian Navy is set to conduct the third edition of its Station Commanders’ Workshop in New Delhi from March 18 to 20, 2024. This follows the successful organization of the first two workshops at INS Hamla in Mumbai (Southern Naval Command) and INS Circars (Eastern Naval Command). The event will mark a significant gathering in the capital, with over 100 Station Commanders, Unit Heads, and Commanding Officers from across India, including the strategic island territories of Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The workshop aims to foster a vibrant exchange of ideas and strategies to enhance the administration and operational readiness of naval stations nationwide. Participants are expected to delve into discussions that will lead to actionable insights for the improvement of naval base management and operations.
A key feature of the workshop will be a series of professional presentations by staff from the Naval Headquarters (NHQ), Command Headquarters, and Station Commanders. These sessions are designed to share knowledge, best practices, and innovative approaches to naval administration and welfare.
Notably, the Naval Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA) will play an active role in the workshop, highlighting the importance of personnel welfare in the navy’s operational effectiveness. A special session is scheduled to discuss the Early Intervention Centres (EICs) initiative by NWWA. These centres focus on the early detection and intervention for developmental delays in children aged 0-6 years, aiming to integrate them into mainstream education through timely professional support. EICs are operational across all three command regions, Delhi, and Karwar, illustrating the navy’s commitment to the well-being of its personnel’s families.
The workshop will be presided over by Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, the Controller of Personnel Services (CPS), with Admiral Hari Kumar, the Chief of Naval Staff, delivering both the opening and closing addresses. This high-level engagement underscores the importance of the Station Commanders’ Workshop as a platform for leadership to discuss and devise strategies for the navy’s future direction and operational excellence.
