Agniveers Shine at INS Chilka Passing Out Parade: Embarking on a New Voyage

In a display of impeccable military precision and pride, the third batch of Agniveers (02/2023) celebrated their triumphant Passing Out Parade (POP) at INS Chilka, Odisha, on March 15, 2024.

A total of 2,630 Agniveers, including 396 women, marched with unwavering determination and valor, marking the culmination of 16 weeks of rigorous ab-initio Naval training.

The splendid ceremony, held against the backdrop of a setting sun, was graced by the esteemed presence of Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, who served as the Reviewing Officer.

Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, adorned the role of the conducting officer for the event, adding a touch of grandeur and solemnity to the occasion.

The Passing Out Parade witnessed a confluence of distinguished personalities and luminaries, including Shri Sudarshan Sahoo, the revered master sculptor and recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Vibhusan, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

Notable sports personality and Arjuna awardee, M Suranjay Singh, MCPO I (PT), along with various achiever veterans, added to the aura of the event, inspiring the Agniveers with their presence.

Amidst the resounding cheers of proud family members and spectators, the Agniveers showcased their exemplary drill and military bearing, earning accolades from Admiral R Hari Kumar for their outstanding performance.

The Chief of the Naval Staff commended the trainees for their dedication and emphasized the evolving challenges in the global security landscape, urging them to remain technologically adept and committed to upholding the Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour, and Courage.

Highlighting the importance of parental support in shaping the nation’s defenders, Admiral R Hari Kumar extended his gratitude to the parents of the Agniveers, recognizing their invaluable contribution to the country.

The momentous occasion also saw the Chief Guest awarding medals and trophies to the meritorious Agniveers. Prathamesh Amit Darekar and Sanni Kumar Rajak were honored with the Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Gold Medal for Best Agniveer SSR & MR respectively in the men’s category, while Samruddhi Khandave emerged as the Best Woman Agniveer, receiving the prestigious Gen Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy.

During the valedictory function, the Chief of the Naval Staff presented the overall Championship Trophy to Angad Division and the Runners Up Trophy to Shivaji Division, celebrating their outstanding performance and camaraderie.

  1. “Agniveer”! What a fantastic name for our young brave hearts! And how they look in these photos and the video. I got tears of happiness to watch all these. Great! Probably Agniveer programme is one of the best ideas the GOI got and implemented in spite of dirty opposition, remarks and comments. Jai Ho Agniveer.
