Lt Gen KS Brar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Dakshin Bharat Area, embarked on a visit to the prestigious Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) in Trivandrum.
His visit aimed at fostering knowledge exchange, exploring collaborative opportunities, and highlighting the significance of joint efforts in harnessing emerging technologies for the Indian Army’s requirements.
During his visit, Lt Gen KS Brar engaged in discussions with top officials and scientists at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, a leading space research organization under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
He emphasized the importance of leveraging space technology and expertise to address the evolving needs and challenges faced by the Indian Army.
The GOC of Dakshin Bharat Area underscored the value of collaboration between the defence sector and space research institutions in developing cutting-edge projects and solutions that can enhance the capabilities of the Indian Army. Lt Gen KS Brar’s visit also included interactions with faculty members and researchers at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), an esteemed institution dedicated to space science education and research.
He explored avenues for joint research initiatives and academic collaborations that could benefit both the space science community and the defence establishment.
The discussions during the visit focused on identifying areas of common interest where the expertise of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and IIST could complement the requirements of the Indian Army. Topics such as satellite communication, remote sensing, geospatial intelligence, and satellite-based navigation systems were among the key areas of interest discussed during the meetings.
