Meet Lieutenant Shoaib Khan, Faced 10 SSB Interview Attempts To Earn The Uniform

The journey was challenging, with Shoaib attempting the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination six times and the Air Force Common Admission Test four times.

In an inspiring display of perseverance and dedication, Lieutenant Shoaib Khan from Kota has recently been commissioned as a lieutenant in the Indian Army, marking the culmination of a journey filled with unwavering determination. His commissioning, a proud moment for both his family and the community, took place in a ceremony at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai on March 9, attended by notable military officers including Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhary.

Lieutenant Shoaib Khan

Shoaib’s path to the Indian Army was anything but straightforward. After completing his Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from a private university in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi, he set his sights on serving the nation as an army officer. This aspiration led him to face the rigorous selection process of the Services Selection Board (SSB) not once, but ten times.

The journey was challenging, with Shoaib attempting the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination six times and the Air Force Common Admission Test four times. Despite these efforts, success seemed elusive until his 11th attempt, when he was selected for the SSC (Short Service Commission) Technical Course 117. His selection was based on an impressive cut-off of 79 percent in his B.Tech, which led directly to an interview where he secured the 11th rank in the All India Merit list. This remarkable achievement was a testament to Shoaib’s resilience and his refusal to give up on his dreams.

The commissioning ceremony was not just a personal achievement for Shoaib but also a moment of collective pride for the legal community in Kota. His father, Shakir Husain Khan, an advocate, and notable figures from the Kota Bar Association, including Deepak Mittal, the former president, celebrated this significant milestone. The legal community’s joy was palpable, highlighting the impact of Shoaib’s achievement on a broader scale.
