President Droupadi Murmu visited Pokhran on Saturday and interacted with troops from the Desert Corps in the Jaisalmer Sector of Rajasthan. She was welcomed by Lieutenant General AK Singh, the General Officer Commanding in Chief of Southern Command.
Kalraj Mishra, the Governor of Rajasthan, along with other civil and military dignitaries, also attended the event.
During her visit, President Murmu witnessed a Firepower Exercise showcasing various weapon platforms, including new-generation weapon systems.
She also experienced the capabilities of the Arjun tank, a prominent Indian battle tank, by riding in it across the desert terrain.
The President took the opportunity to interact with Indian Army personnel, acknowledging their bravery, sacrifices, and valuable service to the nation.
She expressed her appreciation for their contributions and commended all ranks of the Indian Army for their unwavering commitment and maintaining the highest standards of readiness, as stated in a Defence Public Relations Officer’s statement.
