Subedar Neeraj Chopra secures 2nd position in the men’s Javelin finals

Subedar Neeraj Chopra has once again made the Indian Army and the Nation proud.

With his throw of 88.13m on his fourth attempt in the men’s javelin throw final in Oregon, Neeraj Chopra ensured himself a historic silver medal. This is India’s only second medal at the World Championships after long-jumper Anju Bobby George’s bronze in 2003.

While conditions were not good & the wind speed was too high, I was confident I would perform well. I am satisfied with the result, I am happy I was able to win a medal for my country: Neeraj Chopra‘s after winning a silver medal in World Athletics Championships

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra scripted yet another history as he became only the second Indian and first male track and field athlete to win a medal in the World Championships by clinching silver in the javelin throw final.

Chopra, who had come into the showpiece as a hot medal favourite, produced a best throw of 88.13m to finish second. The legendary long jumper Anju Booby George was the first Indian to win a medal — bronze — in the World Championships in the 2003 edition in Paris.
