A total 283 cadets graduated from the National Defence Academy (NDA) as they passed through the portals of the prestigious Khetrapal Parade Ground. It included 179 cadets from the Army, 35 cadets from the Navy and 56 cadets from the Air Force.
Dr Subhash Bhamre, Minister of State for Defence, reviewed the passing out parade (PoP) of 131st course of NDA on Tuesday.
There were 13 foreign cadets from friendly countries who also passed out from the academy. These cadets are from Bhutan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan.
The Reviewing Officer was received by Air Marshal Jasjit Singh Kler, VM, Commandant, National Defence Academy at the parade gound.
Bhamre addressed the Passing-out-Course cadets wherein he complemented the cadets for their good turnout and exceptional drill movements.
He congratulated the cadets and parents of the Passing-out-Course and specially, the award winners. He thanked the parents for sending their children to the academy and said that the entire nation is proud of them.
He also appreciated the efforts put in by the commandant and the entire training staff at NDA for having trained such fine cadets and honed their skills.
Academy Cadet Captain Chandrakant Acharya won the President’s gold medal for standing first in the overall order of merit.
Academy Cadet Adjutant Hemant Poonia won the silver medal for standing second in the overall order of merit and Squadron
Cadet Captain AS Dhatt won the bronze medal for standing third in the overall order of merit.
The ‘November’ Squadron bagged the prestigious ‘Chief of Staff Banner’ and this was ceremonially presented during the parade.
