9 Tips To Prepare For The Upcoming AFCAT Exam

The entrance exam for entry into the Indian Air Force, AFCAT is just a month away. And you need to get back to cramming and learning everything to crack the exam. Unfortunately, that’s how it works and fortunately, the key to this is being consistent and regular even for any given schedule.

Here are the 9 tips to manage your time accordingly and to prepare for the upcoming AFCAT exam:

  1. Start your day with exercise as it increases blood flow to the body and brain. Combine this with a nutritious meal at the start of your day, and your mind is prepped for success.
  2. Give 10 minutes of your day to plan your day, every day. This can be done early in the morning or a night before.
  3. On average, a human can fully concentrate for 15-25 minutes. Take advantage of this and your need to get your blood flowing & body moving, by doing some form of movement/exercise every 25 minutes. Get up between breaks, walk around, grab a glass of water, do anything but studying while on break.
  4. Designate a specific place for studying. This will train your brain to kick into study-mode. If you go to the same library or computer lab when you need to be productive, your mind will eventually get the idea and adjust every time you visit those places.
  5. Stay hydrated, eat well, exercise and practice meditation. These are all activities which will improve neuroplasticity in your brain.
  6. HAVE NAPS! Naps are not only the most enjoyable thing to do at 3 in the afternoon, but they help you consolidate short-term memories into long-term memories. A short 20-minute nap has huge benefits!
  7. Revise every 1 hour, before you have a break. If you don’t remember much, that means your brain is fried and needs a break.
  8. Listen to soft/instrumental music which DOES NOT have lyrics. Listening to lyrical music is distracting, whether or not you’re aware of it.
  9. Follow the Pomodoro Technique:

The Pomodoro technique is a time management/productivity life hack. It helps you to get more things done in less time. Here’s how it works:

Basically, you have to work for 25 minutes straight and then take a 5-minute break. When you are done with four Pomodoro, take a 15-20 minute break. Follow this:

  • Make a ‘to do list’ (priority wise)
  • Now see whether the task you want to do can be done in 25 minutes or will it require more time.
  • If it will take you more than 25minutes to accomplish your task, break it into small achievable targets of 25 minutes.
  • Now set aside all the distractions. Logout of twitter, fb, etc. Put your phone on flight mode.
  • Start the timer. Start with a task. Now you are on a Pomodoro. You can only focus on the task at hand. Don’t cheat, you’ll get a break time in 25 minutes.
  • After 25 minutes, mark an ‘X’ on your journal or any paper for recording the Pomodoros.
  • Take a 5 minute break. You cannot do ANYTHING related to your task in your break time. Even you were in the middle of something, you HAVE TO take a break.
  • Your break should last only and only for 5 minutes. Get back to work after 5 minutes. Set the timer again for your next pomodoro.
  • After 4 Pomodoros, you can take a longer break. The long break should between 15-30 minutes.

And you are all set for studying 12-14 hours daily. If you have any queries or questions, feel free to ask us at out Facebook Group, SSBCrack Support.
