6 Weapons That Allow Indian Military To Strike Anywhere In The World

Hello, Warriors, India is one of the most rapidly growing militaries in the world. With the test firing of Agni I ballistic missile and Agni IV ballistic missile, it has expanded its intercontinental strike range. India has evolved from a regional force with tactical capabilities to a growing strategic force with global reach. Though most of the Indian weapons are imported from other countries, it doesn’t give India an upper hand during the conflict with these countries.

Here are the 6 weapons that allow Indian Armed Forces to strike at any corner of the world:

  1. BrahMos Missile: BrahMos is the world’s fastest cruise missile in operation travelling at speeds of Mach 2.8 to 3.0. The land-launched and ship-launched versions are already in service, with the air and submarine-launched versions currently in the testing phase. An air-launched variant of BrahMos is planned which came out in 2012. A hypersonic version of the missile, BrahMos-II, is also presently under development with speed of Mach 7 to boost aerial fast strike capability. It is expected to be ready for testing by 2017. India is now the only nation in the world with this advanced technology.

  1. Prithvi Missiles: Prithvi is a tactical surface-to-surface short-range ballistic missile (SRBM). Prithvi was the first missile to be developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme of the Indian Government. The Prithvi missile project encompassed developing 3 variants for use by the Indian Army (Prithvi I), Indian Air Force (Prithvi II) and Indian Navy (Prithvi III), all of which are currently inducted into the respective forces.

  1. Shaurya Missile: Shaurya is a canister launched hypersonic surface-to-surface tactical missile. They can remain hidden or camouflaged in underground silos from enemy surveillance or satellites till they are fired from the special storage-cum-launch canisters. The first lot of this missile has entered production and these missiles are also inducted in the military.

  1. Agni Missiles: The Agni series of missiles is a family of medium to intercontinental range ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear load. The Agni missile family comprises three deployed variants (Agni I, II, III) while two more variants (Agni IV and Agni V) are under testing. These missiles enable Indian military to strike at intercontinental ranges.

AIR DEFENCE MISSILE SYSTEMS

  1. PAD/AAD Ballistic Missile Defence System: To counter the threats of attacks from Ballistic missiles, Indian Ballistic Missile Defence Programme has been introduced. Prithvi Air Defence (PAD) and Advanced Air Defence (AAD) is an initiative to develop and deploy a multi-layered ballistic missile defence system to protect from ballistic missile attacks.

  1. Barak-8 Missile: The Barak-8 missile, which has recently been test-fired is a surface-to-air missile (SAM), designed to defend against any type of airborne threat including aircraft, helicopters, anti-ship missiles, and UAVs as well as cruise missiles and combat jets out to a maximum range of 70 km. Upgradations are being carried out to increase the range up to 100 km.
