9 Frequently Asked Questions In Personal Interview

Observation is best analyzed by asking candidates about their state or hometown or city of their residence.

Personal Interview in SSB takes time from half an hour to 2 hours (sometimes) has a wide range of questions, rapid-fire, probing questions etc. Some questions are generally asked of most of the candidates. Some of them are mentioned below.

  1. Your contribution at homeThis is a most common and diverse question that has a lot and is genuine to speak. What actually do and contribute to in-home activities. Don’t feel shy here. You can say about helping mother in washing clothes, dusting, paying bills, etc., but stay ready for further cross-questions.
  2. Fluctuation is marks – 90% of the candidates are prone to this question. The ups and downs in marks obtained in 10th, 12th, and graduation or any other course is generally asked in personal interviews. A specific reason is always there behind fall or hike in marks. Mention it and honestly.
  3. Your friends and family – To review and decide your company, candidates are mostly asked about their friends. The basic questions are; tell me something about your friends, who is your best friend and whom you don’t like, the qualities of your friends etc… Similarly, if IO asks specific questions about your family then just answer to these questions and if asked about family then reply to what is mentioned in the PIQ form. To avoid contradiction or counterfeit replies, give genuine answers and stay on your ground.
  4. Why do you want to join The Armed Forces? – This question is asked when a candidate seems to be in a conflicting mood toward his career. Your family background, relations with armed force personnel, adventure interest, facilities, and job security can be a part of your reply.
  5. Management of salary or pocket money – When it comes to money matters, a person is always accessed deeply. This question is asked to check management and correct use of money at the correct place. NDA and TES candidates are rarely asked about this question, but CDS, SSC, and AFCAT candidates are asked about their money management.
  6. Most interesting test in SSB – To access your observation and performance in psychology and GTO tests. Your observation, keenness, and your reasoning ability are checked through this question. So make sure that your reply will be as per your performance or just specify your average performance in every test to mold the question.
  7. Your activities at SSB – Your friend circle, what you do during off tests timings and your testing schedule are included in this question. Your liveliness, cooperation, punctuality and time management.
  8. Way of introspection and preparation for SSB – Repeaters are more prone to these questions. Your introspection and the way you overcame them show your self-dependent and self-reliant behavior. This question can be asked in another way as; why did you get conference-out or screen-out last time. Freshers are asked about their way of preparation and their resources of preparation
  9. Something about your hometown – Observation is best analyzed by asking candidates about their state or hometown or city of their residence. This question needs to be answered frequently, i.e. history or significance in history, economy, famous personalities, tourist sites, educational facilities, etc. Your reply must be compact and comprehensive as this question has lots more to say, but replying to the point is the best way to reply.
