Recommended By 12 SSB Bangalore for SSC Navy Pilots

Let me not waste your time by telling my whole SSB story. But I myself as an aspirant have read many others’ SSB experience in this same wall. So let me share a few important things which I think got me recommended in the very first attempt of mine.

“Freshers” not a privilege!

Get the wrong notion out of your heads, if you do. Assessors look for the same OLQs in everyone. Nevertheless, being a fresher would help a lot during screening, as candidates would be segregated accordingly, as freshers, screened outs, conferenced outs & merit outs. So freshers need not be worried about the experienced ones. But once screening is over freshers are not freshers anymore.
 

Preparation never fails

Learn about the Selection process well in prior and enter the arena with almost the same level of experience like a repeater. A good preparation would give you enough confidence to face all the tests with ease.

You are solely responsible for your life

During PI, incase your IO points out something wrong or ignorant or bad, that you have done in your life, have the courage to take up responsibility for your deeds. Have the conscience to accept your mistakes. Never try throwing the blame on others, which would portray you in a bad manner. Not everyone is perfect & right the very first time. But have a reason for your deed, s that you don’t create an impression of a person who goes with the wind.

Be “honest” and not “frank”

There is a difference in being honest and being frank. Be honest in your answer, but never reveal yourself, anything that would potentially spoil your chance of getting in.

U Fake it , U lose it

Don’t fake unless you think you could outsmart our well- trained and experienced assessors. They look for qualities which are normally found in every one of us. Just that we have them in varying proportions. So do not be worried even if you think you lack some of them. May be you might have failed to notice them in yourself, which our assessors could possibly find out. That’s why unexpected candidates do get recommended in every batch.

Syllabus for SSB interview is all about yourself.

I agree that you know yourself better than anyone else. But do find out about your impression on others. Especially your friends, colleagues and close ones. It would help you figure out new dimensions of yourself.

Connect the dots

The assessors have not seen your past and they don’t care about what you were before SSB. But during your stay at SSB, make sure that whatever you do, doesn’t go out of your grid. The grid here is what you are & How you have portrayed yourself in the tests. Right from your PIQ, your Psych tests, Group tasks and Personal Interview, never contradict yourself with your previous statement/opinion/data.  

Its not over until its really over !

Don’t let your previous guilt spoil your performance in the current ones. Even if you don’t do a test well, come back with full force again in the next one. I know its not easy, but this is something that they look for. Its called perseverance.

And the most important of all..

Don’t be too desperate. Staying calm and enjoying the process can actually make things easier even without you realizing. So enjoy the 5 day process and make good memories out of it.

    first of all congrats…I know it’s a very old post…but i just wanted to try my luck over here…

    I have a few queries about this…please clarify my doubts if you see this post…thanks

    1. I have a very mild wheezing…cause is cold. Is it possible for me to get selected…??

    2. Height and weight standards are too low…i’m 170cm tall and 70kg…at the time of writing the exam i would be 21 years so the standard for 170cm is 57kg…though i’m 70…i’m not fat…i’m fit…so are those height weight standards followed seriously…???

    3.what is PABT…??? is it easy or difficult to clear…???

    4. I’m still not clear about observer status…??? what is it clearly…??? will they be allowed to fly aircraft or will they only be functioning as crewmen…???

    5. After the selection will you be able to select your branch of flying like fixed wing or rotary wing…fighter or transporter and maritime reconnaissance???

    All the above question are for both navy pilot and air force pilot…

    6.also if we happen to fail in pabt in IAF can we apply for pilot post in navy…???

    7. I know one of the dumbest question you might have ever heard…but just wanted to know this…I don’t know hindi…maybe a very little…but not so good at it….what is the life in army or the academy if you don’t know hindi…is it easy or difficult…??? I’ve been to madhya pradesh and it was very difficult as many people didn’t know or didn’t want to speak in english…??? that’s why…i’m not having anything against learning it…but it’s not so easy here…that’s why…
