Eye Sight Required For IMA And OTA

The two academies (IMA and OTA) have some physical standards that a candidate must have to get into them. The standards mainly have height, weight according to height, tooth count, fit from disease and eyesight. Due to the hectic schedule of studies and job hours, eyesight problems are increasing. This problem is prevailing as one of the mostly faced problems for SSB aspirants which sometimes becomes the cause of unfitness in medicals. Special focus is given on the eyesight of the candidate appearing for Air Force SSB. Here we are providing some information about the eyesight standards required for IMA and OTA.

For IMA and OTA, the eyesight standards are not too strict as that of Indian air force. Here are standards required for IMA and OTA

  • The minimum acceptable visual acuity is 6/6 in a better case and worse could be 6/18. The eyesight has to be corrected.
  • Myopia should not be more than -3.5D and Hypermetropia should not be above + 3.5D including astigmatism.
  • When it comes to the women, who have the chances of to go through OTA they have some relaxation in myopia with the range of -5.5D including astigmatism. .The eyesight will be examined more to ensure the good binocular vision of the candidate.Eye Sight Required For IMA And OTA

The above standards are for the candidates of Indian Military Academy Dehradun and Officers training academy, Chennai. The candidates of navy and air force are tougher. Fighter pilots in any service are required to have 6/6 eyesight (natural, not corrected) to get into the services.

So here it is to inform all the aspirants who have recently applied for CDS or any other entry need to go through the above information and special attention is required for those who are appearing or planning to appear for Indian air force. Some other medical problems that are generally faced by candidate’s non-coordination of height and weight as per the criteria and some commonly found deformities in bones especially in limbs, sweat palm flat foot etc.

The above information will help you to make yourself aware of your basic medical requirements for the services and to choose which services you should prefer as per your medical standards.
