In a shocking incident on Wednesday evening, an Army soldier on leave was injured during a terrorist attack in the Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The soldier, identified as Delhair Mushtaq, was shot at by unidentified assailants while standing outside his home in the Sofigund Aripal area.
According to reports from local sources, the attack took place as the soldier was enjoying his time at home. Delhair Mushtaq sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his leg and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Medical officials have stated that his condition is currently stable, and further updates are expected as he receives treatment.
In response to the attack, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area surrounding the incident in an effort to apprehend the perpetrators. A search operation has been initiated to track down the terrorists responsible for the shooting, heightening security measures in the region.
In a separate incident earlier that day, an Army post situated in the border area of Surankot in Poonch district came under attack from terrorists who hurled grenades at the installation during the early hours. Officials reported that two grenades were thrown at the Army post near the Line of Control (LoC). While one grenade exploded on impact, the other failed to detonate. Bomb disposal experts were subsequently deployed to the scene, where they successfully defused the unexploded device.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this incident, but the attack has prompted security forces to launch extensive search operations to locate the terrorists involved. The situation in both areas reflects the ongoing security challenges faced by military personnel and the increased vigilance needed in areas often targeted by militant activities.
