In a major operation conducted at sea, the Indian Navy, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), intercepted a suspicious vessel carrying a massive consignment of contraband.
The apprehended vessel was found to be transporting approximately 3300 kilograms of illegal substances, including 3089 kilograms of Charas, 158 kilograms of Methamphetamine, and 25 kilograms of Morphine.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence gathered by the Indian Navy’s maritime surveillance aircraft, which was further corroborated by inputs from the NCB.
In response, an Indian Navy warship was swiftly deployed to intercept the suspicious dhow as it made its way into Indian waters. Utilizing advanced tracking capabilities, the Indian Navy successfully located, tracked, and intercepted the vessel at sea.
Following the interception, boarding operations were conducted on the dhow, leading to the largest seizure of narcotics in recent times.
Subsequently, the vessel was towed by the Indian Navy warship to the nearest Indian port, where both the crew and the seized contraband were handed over to the appropriate Law Enforcement Agencies for further investigation and legal proceedings.
This operation holds significant importance not only due to the sheer quantity and value of the confiscated narcotics but also due to the collaborative efforts demonstrated by the Indian Navy and the NCB.
It underscores their joint commitment to disrupting illegal narcotics smuggling routes, particularly those originating from the Makran coast and extending towards various countries in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
The successful execution of this coordinated mission reaffirms the Indian Navy’s steadfast determination to prevent the illicit use of the seas for criminal activities, particularly within India’s maritime domain. It serves as a testament to the Indian Navy’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding maritime security and upholding the rule of law in the region.
