I am Nikhil Srivastava a 10+2 pass out in 2015 and a die-hard Army fan & I am sharing my NDA SSB experience. My reporting was on 20 Feb, 2016 for NDA 136 along with one of my schoolmate and my best friend Amit Adhikari(chest no 2+ , I am chest no 8+),it was the third attempt for both of us . Both of us were thinking about how exciting it would be when our names would be called while travelling to Allahabad.
Our reporting was at 1 PM , so we reached Allahabad without any problem.
Luckily we got 19 SSB, the same board from which both of us were conference out in TES 34. Certain thoughts were coming in my mind that it might be some lucky charm or somewhat getting 19 SSB again but I knew I had to make it large this time.
The routine was as usual , we got our chest numbers got our rooms and stuff.
We practiced for group discussion that day and had a good night’s sleep before proceeding for the Day 1 Tests.
Out of 53 candidates who reported that day 35 were taken for the further testing.
Luckily I was chest no 27 , the same chest no I got in TES 34 last time.
We all know the procedure so I will cut it short

Aspirants, the secret here is practise and practise , practise helps you increase your speed , a factor which is decisive in psychological tests,Rest be truthful in whatever you write , Just don’t conceal anything or else most of us know the result.
Next comes the GTO tests
Our group had 10 members , a group of repeaters , but it only helped us we all knew that the key to success here is coordination and taking these tests as games rather than tests which we followed throughout the GTO tests o(r games, I should say.
The result was also good we did the progressive group task in about 32 minutes in which everybody was able to give his ideas, my lecturette was also good, the topic being “Social Networking” ,Group Discussion was also very smooth, we reached to a common solution in GPE quickly( Though I was not able to complete my GPE in time) , I completed my command task efficiently & well within time & did 9 Individual Obstacles.
My interview was on GTO Day 2 & I was interviewed by the president of the board,
The interview was focused mostly on my PIQ , a little GK was also there but being an ardent newspaper and CSR reader helped me a lot in overcoming the GK section . My interview was a little different from others as none of my fellas at SSB were interviewed by two officers except me.
The questions were all same, the rapid fire , the cross questions to confirm and the again cross questions to reconfirm.

My interview lasted for 50 minutes which according to me was good.
That day was Monday so we planned a trip to Anand Bhawan, the home of our first PM, Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru and while returning one of my friend organised a mini party at KFC .
The day of conference arrived, I knew I had done my best and there were no regrets. I was asked to rate my performance & I said 7/10 as I had left my GPE uncompleted and was not able to complete 60 SRTs well within time.
Here I finally found the second person in my interview, he was actually one of the phycologists.
The result was announced at around 1:30 PM and here it was chest no 27 , at first it was like I am currently dreaming but suddenly I realized that it is the truth , I am recommended.
Finally I would be able to give a salute to my father, my mother & my sisters , one of them being in the Air Force at the rank of a Squadron Leader , my pillars of strength.
