India Increasing Presence on Borders

The Indian army has always stood ahead in all the activities and tasks that happens in the nation. Keeping an eye on border problems, high rate of intrusions and causalities on border, India is focusing on increasing its presence near the border along with high tech machines to save lives and increase accuracy.

As reported recently, the Indian army will deploy remote controlled machine guns on the Indo Pakistan border by the end of this year. The deployment will be done in the south of Pir-Panjal range that are dividing point of Jammu and Kashmir valley. The current status states that the trails of these guns is undergoing in Akhnoor sector. As per the expectations, Sten submachine has come up with the satisfactory results.

The gun has indigenous technology with some automated features that have made it elite one.

The gun is featured with infrared devices releasing a bunch of beams that can detect movements in around 80 meters ahead of the border premises. These sensors are connected to the guns mounted over the rotors for easy lowering, raising and rotating up to 150 degrees of angle and night vision cameras are installed to give live images of the border to the station. In case, the grid is breached, the sensors will turn the guns to the site as instructed. An alarm mechanism is installed, which will be raised in the bunkers of operators when someone try to enter the grid and the decision of shooting is to be taken by the commanders at the bunkers.India-Increasing-Presence-on-Borders

These high tech machines will surely reduce the casualties on the border. While some old machines are on the way of up gradations and are expected to return in bold form.

In the same way, Indian made Dhanush, popularly known as “Desi Bofors” are expected to enter into the service soon. Developed by an ordinance factory board, Kolkata, it is a 155mm gun with 45 caliber holding some features that make it a bit special. It has a range of 38 kms, 11kms more than imported guns (27km). The guns have its history started from the first phase of transfer of technology of Bofors in late 80s and now is almost ready to be included into Indian army.

In another phase of research and development, DRDO has inaugurated the extreme altitude research Centre at Chang La in J&K. The Centre is established at a height of 17,600 ft above the sea level, making it world’s highest R&D Centre in the world which will face -40 degree temperature in extreme cold weather. The center is framed for working in the field of bio-medics, agriculture and other related sector for well being of soldiers deployed in front. The Lab will help in researches in various aspects and activities that takes place at high altitude areas.

These guns will help the Indian army to make the targets more precisely and saving soldier’s life. These guns are the signaling to the next generation war where technology and metal will replace humans. India’s successive moves in the direction of making armed forces more advance and lethal are going in the right direction.
