Top Ten Warfare Ships Of The World

  1. IZUMU CLASS (JAPAN)
    Though the Japanese constitution prevents the setting up of offensive weaponry, this one is an Top Ten Warfare Ships Of The Worldiconic helicopter carrier. It is primarily responsible for hunting down enemy submarines .With a length of 813 ft, displacement of 2700 tons and max speed of 30 knots it is one of the most feted ships of Japanese navy. It is speculated that these ships were designed to have a check over China’s growing adventurism in the disputed waters.
  2. WASP CLASS AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT SHIP (USA)
    How can a ship from the USA not be in this list? Ships of Wasp Class were primarily designed to move its personnel from one territory to the other. It can carry about 1900 people, dozens of helicopters, tanks, and aircrafts along with anti warfare equipments. It has two folding aircraft elevators that move between the hanger and the flight deck to enable it to pass through the Panama Canal. It has a length of 831 ft., displacement of 40,500 tons and max speed of 22knots.
  3. AMERICA CLASS (USA)
    Like the Wasp class these are also amphibious assault ships. These ships are more advanced, larger and costlier than its preceding class (Wasp Class). Each is reported to be as costly as $ 3.4 billion with a length of 844 ft. It can carry modern aircrafts such as F-35 and can also match the speed of smaller fighting vessels. It can carry around 1750 marines, tanks, artillery and other destructive equipments. On the whole it is a sheer winner for the USA.
  4. KIROV CLASS (RUSSIA)
    They are a fully fledged war fighting ship of the Russian Navy. These nuclear powered battle cruisers of 827 ft. length are reportedly as costly as $ 2 billion each. They can carry supersonic anti ship missiles with a range of 500 km. They can shoot hundreds of surface to air missiles to shoot down the enemy. They can also counter enemy’s anti submarine weaponry. On the whole these ships are like a shining star in the Russian Navy.
  5. CHARLES De GAULLE CLASS (FRANCE)
    When are talking about the best fighting ships of the world, how can the French stay behind? This is reported to be the largest warship in the whole Western Europe. It is also the first nuclear powered surface ship built by the French. It can operate over 40 aircrafts and can sail for 20 years without refueling. It has a length of 858 ft, displacement of 42,000 ton with max speed of 32 knots.
  6. MODIFIED CLEMENCEAU CLASS (BRAZIL)
    Originally the Clemenceau class ships were operated by the French but when they wanted to get modernized they sold one of these ships to Brazil for around $ 12 million. After the acquisition this ship has undergone several up gradations to improve its offensive capabilities. It has a length of 869 ft and can carry 39 aircrafts.
  7. INS VIKRAMADITYA (INDIA)
    Here comes the star of the list, our very own INS VIKRAMADITYA. It was bought by the Indian Navy from the Russians at a cost of $ 1.5 billion. It was proving to be too expensive for the Russians and hence they sold it to India. It has a length of 930 ft, displacement of 45,400 tons with a max speed of 32 knots. It can carry 16 aircrafts and 10 helicopters along with a crew of 1400 personnel. It has fetched India a place in the coveted list of countries to have such modernized aircraft carriers.
  8. LIAONING AIRCRAFT CARRIER (CHINA)
    And you were wondering where is China. This was the first aircraft carrier of China. It was bought by the People’s Republic of China at an auction from the Russians at a cost of $ 25 million. It is fitted with defenses against missiles, aircrafts and submarines. It can also operate around 30 aircrafts and 24 helicopters with many missiles and rockets. It is primarily used to train Chinese pilots for aircraft carrier service. It has a length of 999 ft, displacement of 66,000 tons and a max speed of 32 knots.
  9. ADMIRAL KUZNETSOV AIRCRAFT CARRIER (RUSSIA)
    Another one goes to Russia. This aircraft is a perfect mélange of defensive and offensive capabilities. It has heavy long range missiles, good amount of Surface to Air Missiles and a plenty of anti submarine equipments. It has a length of 1001 ft, displacement of 55,000 tons and a max speed of 29 knots. In addition to this it can carry 2356 personnel and 52 aircrafts.
  10. NIMITZ CLASS (USA)
    When it comes to the best, it is always the USA. It is currently the largest warfare ship in the world with a length of 1092 ft. It is a nuclear powered aircraft carrier which can run for 20 years without a refuel. Its life is reportedly around 50 years and is said to be of $ 4.5 billion in value. It has a displacement of 100,000 tons, max speed of 30 knots and can carry a crew of 5000 individuals. It can cater 80-90 bomber aircrafts and is accoutered with missile defense systems.

Apart from the list it is also worth noting that our very own country has started building indigenous warfare ships. The first in the list will be INS Vikrant which is to be commissioned in the next 5-7 years. It will be followed by INS Vishal. This has been a major step to ensure defense related self reliance in a country which is the largest arms and defense related equipment exporter of the world.
