Indian Army: Serve With Honour and Pride

Indian Army: Serve With Honour and Pride

The Indian army won’t stop, the soldiers wont tire, till the last citizen is rescued “. The distinguished history of Indian army is many thousand years back. The structure, pattern of this elite force is taken from our Vedas of Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Several conquests were there on the Indian soil that led to the formation of separate army that will fight till their last breath to protect the citizens. Indian army is mandated to safeguard national interest from external aggression and internal subversion. Apart from various task that are under the force, the force looks for the help in various disaster issues, calamities etc.

They perform the following:

  • War fighting to meet external repulsion
  • Force projection
  • Internal security management which includes internal threats
  • Peace keeping operations
  • Military assistance to friendly countries
  • Disaster relief
There had been many chances when the situation could not be controlled by the civil authorities and the help of Army was taken. This is not because the civil authorities are not competent enough but the training imparted to our Army members is just edge above where they are forced to face every vital situation and face it with success. There are many parts in the Indian army where an individual as per his/her interest can serve:
  • Infantry
  • Gunners
  • Aviation
  • Air defence
  • Signals
    Indian Army Weapons
  • Technical engineers
  • Medical corps
  • Ordinance
  • Army dental
  • Rashtriya rifles
  • Territorial army
The training of the Indian army officer is meant to subsume his persona under a very demanding but explicit code. The code reads as follows:
“THE SAFETY, HONOUR AND WELFARE OF
YOUR COUNTRY COME FIRST, ALWAYS AND EVERY TIME.
THE HONOUR, WELFARE AND COMFORT OF
THE MEN YOU COMMAND COME NEXT.
YOUR OWN EASE, COMFORT AND SAFETY COME LAST,
ALWAYS AND EVERY TIME.”

The essence of these lines is so great and that’s why the selection for this eminent force is altogether different. To reach to a rank of officer in this force this inducts for the post of Lieutenant in the beginning and then promotes to senior levels you have to cross an exam called SSB. SSB is a full five day exam where you are called to a centre specially designed for the purpose and assessed for various parameters and the OLQ’s which you must have to serve with such devotion. If you clear through this process you are sent to medicals to check the physical fitness and then awarded with the ranks. SSB is a two step process of selection where only the best ones are chosen. It’s a test specially designed to test the qualities along with psychology of individual. All the aspirants should thoroughly prepare for psychology and take helps of experts who can assess them individually for this purpose.
